Book Real time Simulation of Dynamic Systems Using Network based Distributed Processing

Download or read book Real time Simulation of Dynamic Systems Using Network based Distributed Processing written by Hadi Afif Shaar and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The adoption of a parallel architecture provides a net throughput improvement over the use of uniprocessor computer systems. An alternative to the acquisition of expensive parallel operation hardware is to start from uncostly common personal uniprocessor SISD computers. One way of obtaining SIMP operation starting from simple SISD personal computers (PCs) is through interlinking the latter systems and providing the appropriate control software and user interface. This thesis relates to the implementation of such a setup for a specific computational purpose, namely the solving of state variable differential equations. A parallel operation network is obtained by interconnecting PCs with a physical link, a local area network (LAN), and organizing them into a simple hierarchy. Appropriate device drivers and system software constitute the network's Transport and Session layers, in an equivalent OS I model networking system, while higher OSI layers are handeled by Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS). Artificial intelligence techniques are integrated into a menu-driven user friendly package that allows equations and data entry. These techniques distribute the main task among the available computing units to minimize the time cost function, while a communication protocol provides data distribution and exchange among those units, and a parser verifies the syntax of the entered data. The whole setup is constantly backed-up by a help utility supporting an error-log routine.

Book Parallel and Distributed Simulation Systems

Download or read book Parallel and Distributed Simulation Systems written by Richard M. Fujimoto and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 2000-01-03 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A state-of-the-art guide for the implementation of distributed simulation technology. The rapid expansion of the Internet and commodity parallel computers has made parallel and distributed simulation (PADS) a hot technology indeed. Applications abound not only in the analysis of complex systems such as transportation or the next-generation Internet, but also in computer-generated virtual worlds for military and professional training, interactive computer games, and the entertainment industry. In this book, PADS expert Richard M. Fujimoto provides software developers with cutting-edge techniques for speeding up the execution of simulations across multiple processors and dealing with data distribution over wide area networks ,including the Internet. With an emphasis on parallel and distributed discrete event simulation technologies, Dr. Fujimoto compiles and consolidates research results in the field spanning the last twenty years, discussing the use of parallel and distributed computers in both the modeling and analysis of system behavior and the creation of distributed virtual environments. While other books on PADS concentrate on applications, Parallel and Distributed Simulation Systems clearly shows how to implement the technology. It explains in detail the synchronization algorithms needed to properly realize the simulations, including an in-depth discussion of time warp and advanced optimistic techniques. Finally, the book is richly supplemented with references, tables and illustrations, and examples of contemporary systems such as the Department of Defense's High Level Architecture (HLA), which has become the standard architecture for defense programs in the United States.

Book Parallel Processing Techniques for Simulation

Download or read book Parallel Processing Techniques for Simulation written by Madan Singh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides the proceedings of the First European Workshop on Parallel Processing Techniques for Simulation which was held at the end of October 1985. The Workshop was organized within the framework of a joint project sponsored by the Commission of the European Communities under the research part of the multiannua1 programme in the field of Data Processing aming at promoting collaborative research work in the Community. The project involved collaborative work between the Complex Systems Group of the Control Systems Centre at UMIST, the Systems Reliability Service of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and the University of Bergamo, Italy. The aim of this project was to develop decomposition coordination techniques which would be of help in the simulation of complex dynamical systems on parallel processing facilities. One of the major aims of the Workshop was to report on the results produced within the project and to try to relate these to the leading work going on in this field in other centres of excellence. With this in mind, the Proceedings Volume is split up into a number of parts corresponding to the main sessions within the Workshop programme.

Book Real Time Microcomputer Control of Industrial Processes

Download or read book Real Time Microcomputer Control of Industrial Processes written by S.G. Tzafestas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The introduction of the microprocessor in computer and system engineering has motivated the development of many new concepts and has simplified the design of many modern industrial systems. During the first decade of their life. microprocessors have shown a tremendous evolution in all possible directions (technology. power. functionality. I/O handling. etc). Of course putting the microprocessors and their environmental devices into properly operating systems is a complex and difficult task requiring high skills for melding and integrating hardware. and systemic components. software This book was motivated by the editors' feeling that a cohesive reference is needed providing a good coverage of modern industrial applications of microprocessor-based real time control, together with latest advanced methodological issues. Unavoidably a single volume cannot be exhaustive. but the present book contains a sufficient number of important real-time applications. The book is divided in two sections. Section I deals with general hardware. software and systemic topics. and involves six chapters. Chapter 1. by Gupta and Toong. presents an overview of the development of microprocessors during their first twelve years of existence. Chapter 2. by Dasgupta. deals with a number of system software concepts for real time microprocessor-based systems (task scheduling. memory management. input-output aspects. programming language reqUirements.
