Book excerpt: SEX. Splashed across magazine covers, billboards, and computer screens--sex is casual, aggressive, and absolutely everywhere. And everybody's doing it, right? In Real Sex, heralded young author Lauren F. Winner speaks candidly to Christians about the difficulty--and the importance--of sexual chastity. With honesty and wit, she talks about her struggle to live a celibate life. Never dodging tough terms like "confession" and "sin," Winner grounds her discussion of chastity first and foremost in Scripture. She confronts cultural lies about sex and challenges how we talk about sex in church. Her biblically grounded observations and suggestions will be especially valuable to unmarried Christians struggling with the sexual mania of today's culture. Real Sex is essential reading for Christians grappling with chastity and a valuable tool for pastors.
Download or read book Real Sex Films written by John Tulloch and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real Sex Films explores one of the most controversial movements in international cinema through an innovative interdisciplinary combination of theories of globalization and embodiment. Risk sociology, feminist film theory, and critical feminist mapping theory are brought together with concepts of production, narrative, genre, authorship, stardom, spectatorship, and social audience as several lenses of understanding and extension in ways of seeing real-sex cinema. Notions of personal subjectivity and critical distance, disciplinary co-operation and critique, and cinematic perceptions of the utopia and dystopia of love within risk modernity are the tensions exposed reflexively and in parallel, as each chapter focuses different lenses communicating intimacy, desire, risk and transgression. This book substantively, methodologically, and theoretically embraces and engages in its consideration of the images, ethics, double standards, and embodiments of brutal cinema. Crossing the boundaries of film studies, media and cultural studies, the ethnographic turn, risk sociology, feminist psychoanalytical, and geopolitical studies, this is a book for students, academics, as well as general and professional audiences.
Download or read book Get Real About Sex written by Pam Alldred and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2007-07-16 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Up-to-date and accessible, this book manages to be both theoretically subtle and attuned to the realities of classroom practice.” Dr Rachel Thomson, The Open University "[This] book is a great success and provides a wealth of insights into the realities of teaching and being taught about sex and relationships." Michael Reiss, Institute of Education What are the different values and perspectives on sex and relationship education within a single secondary school? How do young people think sex education should be taught? What are the challenges facing the provision of good sex and relationship education at the classroom level and at the political level? Young people often receive mixed messages about gender and sexual relationships. When providing sex education lessons, schools should take into account different ideas and values, including the general British embarrassment over intimate matters and differing political and personal views about sex education. This book combines young people’s views of sex education, schooling and parenthood, with those of teachers, school nurses and head-teachers. It brings together these varied perspectives and considers how they reveal different values, aims and agendas. The authors highlight the potential conflict between approaches to education and health, and reveal the complexity of dealing with sexuality and gender in real-life situations. Focusing on young people’s identities in the classroom, contemporary theoretical approaches in the social sciences are employed to explore how gender is enacted and experienced by individuals, and how social pressures and government agendas operate at the level of the individual. This book contains original, first-hand empirical material from a detailed study of all the schools in one English city, and offers a critical analysis of broader political and cultural ideas and values. Get Real About Sex is key reading for students and professionals in education, health and the sociology of gender and sexuality.
Download or read book Real Sex written by Mike Lousada and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2017-05-30 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The more modern culture shines its light on sex, the longer the shadow it casts. This shadow is commercialism, pornography and shame. This approach to sexuality distorts it to create performance pressure, increasing numbers of sexual 'dysfunctions' and a fundamental disconnect from ourselves and others. Yet sexuality is one of the most important paths to happiness, simply because it requires us to engage all the other aspects of ourselves. To have deeply satisfying sex we must engage the mind, the body and our feelings. Real Sex will show you how almost everything that our society has tried to teach you about your sexuality is misleading or simply wrong. Real Sex is a journey into the heart of your sexual self; a way of creating meaningful and fulfilling intimacy. It sets out seven keys that will teach you how to love and accept your mind, body, feelings, desires and sexuality at a deeper level, leaving behind feelings of guilt, insecurity and shame. Real Sex offers a new, integrated idea of sexuality that holds a positive perspective of the sexual beings that we are; longing for intimacy and aliveness that we know deep down makes our lives meaningful.

Download or read book True Sex written by Emily Skidmore and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner, 2018 U.S. History PROSE Award The incredible stories of how trans men assimilated into mainstream communities in the late 1800s In 1883, Frank Dubois gained national attention for his life in Waupun, Wisconsin. There he was known as a hard-working man, married to a young woman named Gertrude Fuller. What drew national attention to his seemingly unremarkable life was that he was revealed to be anatomically female. Dubois fit so well within the small community that the townspeople only discovered his “true sex” when his former husband and their two children arrived in the town searching in desperation for their departed wife and mother. At the turn of the twentieth century, trans men were not necessarily urban rebels seeking to overturn stifling gender roles. In fact, they often sought to pass as conventional men, choosing to live in small towns where they led ordinary lives, aligning themselves with the expectations of their communities. They were, in a word, unexceptional. In True Sex, Emily Skidmore uncovers the stories of eighteen trans men who lived in the United States between 1876 and 1936. Despite their “unexceptional” quality, their lives are surprising and moving, challenging much of what we think we know about queer history. By tracing the narratives surrounding the moments of “discovery” in these communities – from reports in local newspapers to medical journals and beyond – this book challenges the assumption that the full story of modern American sexuality is told by cosmopolitan radicals. Rather, True Sex reveals complex narratives concerning rural geography and community, persecution and tolerance, and how these factors intersect with the history of race, identity and sexuality in America.

Download or read book The Real Orgasm written by Dominic Daniels and published by . This book was released on 2016-12-13 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About 7 years ago, the love of my life dumped me because I "wasn't satisfying her in bed." Naturally, my ego was crushed and I went into a severe depression for a few months. But eventually when I finally got over my depression, I knew that I had to figure this whole "female orgasm" thing out. I didn't want to live the rest of my life not being able to make a woman orgasm. So, I began my search. The books that I found offered the same regurgitated information on where the clitoris is located, and the best positions to stimulate it. And as much as you'd think that information would help, it didn't get me the results I was looking for. I couldn't make my partner - whoever she was - consistently orgasm. To say my "orgasm ratio" was 10% - making her cum 1 out of 10 times - would be generous. So, I did what I thought was the next best thing. I went to my best girlfriend at the time and asked her if she would let me interview her about her orgasmic process. Thankfully, she did. And she liked my questions so much that she referred me to her friends, who referred me to their friends, who referred me to their friends, so on. Within 9 months, I had over 360 interviews... and I had completely changed in the process. I spent the next 6 years practicing the things I had learned from those interviews... and a few more things that I learned along the way. And now..? More than 90% of the time, I can make my lover orgasm. If we're dating, 100% of the time. Here's what I learned: 1) As long as you understand the sexual philosophy of the woman you're about to undress, you'll know how to treat her through the process (Soft, Hard, Combinations) 2) The only way you can truly understand her sexual philosophy is by asking the right questions and mastering the art of sexual communication. 3) Then you must own your role in the sexual process. Especially when playing the role of the leader. If you are to lead her to her orgasm, you must feel confident in not just your sexual abilities, but yourself as a whole. 4) Once you have the above 3 handled, you then use the key positions with the right rhythms to bring her to an intense - whole body - orgasm... whether or not clitoral stimulation is involved. Within the book, "The Real Orgasm" you will see the detailed breakdowns of the sexual philosophies I encountered throughout my interviews and the types of sexual personalities those women had. You will also learn the questions I asked to learn everything that I learned from those women. And in case you're wondering... yes, I did sleep with a few of the women that I interviewed. I'm not saying it to boast... well, maybe a little... but I'm mainly saying it because these questions work. They let her know that you're interested in HER... and if you actually pay attention, you'll learn EVERYTHING you need to know to make her cum like a geyser. You will also learn the best strategies and tactics that thousands of men use - including myself - to build an inner core of confidence, dominance, and seduction. This is not about being an overbearing asshole. It's about owning your place as the leader and feeling comfortable there. And finally... you will learn the key positions that virtually guarantee orgasm, as well as, my secret hacks for developing the best sexual rhythm for repetitive orgasms. This information truly transformed my life... The simple fact that I know all of this gives me the type of confidence that most guys would kill for. Not conceit. Confidence. The kind of stuff that "dime pieces" notice. The kind of stuff that gets their panties wet before any physical contact is made. And when we end up in the bedroom, everything flows so smoothly and most importantly. I'm in control of myself the whole time and therefore, can comfortably control the situation. My partner orgasms over and over and OVER again... and most importantly... ...it's all so very sexy.
