Book Thermodynamic Properties of Gaseous Nitrogen

Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Gaseous Nitrogen written by Harold William Woolley and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tables of thermal properties of molecular nitrogen that have been prepared in an NBS-NACA series have been grouped together herein for convenient use. They include the thermodynamic functions for the gas, both real and ideal, the transport properties for a gas, and the vapor pressure of the liquid and the solid. A table of ideal-gas properties is presented, including the specific heat at constant pressure, enthalpy, entropy, and the free-energy function; and a table giving these same properties for atomic nitrogen is also included. The tables of the real-gas thermodynamic properties include density, compressibility factor, entropy, enthalpy, specific heat at constant presssure, ratio of specific heats, and velocity of sound at very low frequency.

Book Real gas Correction Factors for Hypersonic Flow Parameters in Helium

Download or read book Real gas Correction Factors for Hypersonic Flow Parameters in Helium written by Wayne Douglas Erickson and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The real-gas hypersonic flow parameters for helium have been calculated for stagnation temperatures from 0 F to 600 F and stagnation pressures up to 6,000 pounds per square inch absolute. The results of these calculations are presented in the form of simple correction factors which must be applied to the tabulated ideal-gas parameters. It has been shown that the deviations from the ideal-gas law which exist at high pressures may cause a corresponding significant error in the hypersonic flow parameters when calculated as an ideal gas. For example the ratio of the free-stream static to stagnation pressure as calculated from the thermodynamic properties of helium for a stagnation temperature of 80 F and pressure of 4,000 pounds per square inch absolute was found to be approximately 13 percent greater than that determined from the ideal-gas tabulation with a specific heat ratio of 5/3.

Book A TEXTBOOK OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING THERMODYNAMICS

Download or read book A TEXTBOOK OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING THERMODYNAMICS written by K. V. NARAYANAN and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed as an undergraduate-level textbook in Chemical Engineering, this student-friendly, thoroughly class-room tested book, now in its second edition, continues to provide an in-depth analysis of chemical engineering thermodynamics. The book has been so organized that it gives comprehensive coverage of basic concepts and applications of the laws of thermodynamics in the initial chapters, while the later chapters focus at length on important areas of study falling under the realm of chemical thermodynamics. The reader is thus introduced to a thorough analysis of the fundamental laws of thermodynamics as well as their applications to practical situations. This is followed by a detailed discussion on relationships among thermodynamic properties and an exhaustive treatment on the thermodynamic properties of solutions. The role of phase equilibrium thermodynamics in design, analysis, and operation of chemical separation methods is also deftly dealt with. Finally, the chemical reaction equilibria are skillfully explained. Besides numerous illustrations, the book contains over 200 worked examples, over 400 exercise problems (all with answers) and several objective-type questions, which enable students to gain an in-depth understanding of the concepts and theory discussed. The book will also be a useful text for students pursuing courses in chemical engineering-related branches such as polymer engineering, petroleum engineering, and safety and environmental engineering. New to This Edition • More Example Problems and Exercise Questions in each chapter • Updated section on Vapour–Liquid Equilibrium in Chapter 8 to highlight the significance of equations of state approach • GATE Questions up to 2012 with answers
