This book was released on 2016-09-21 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a comprehensive state of the art overview of a series of advanced trends and concepts that have recently been proposed in the area of green information technologies engineering as well as of design and development methodologies for models and complex systems architectures and their intelligent components. The contributions included in the volume have their roots in the authors’ presentations, and vivid discussions that have followed the presentations, at a series of workshop and seminars held within the international TEMPUS-project GreenCo project in United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Sweden and the Ukraine, during 2013-2015 and at the 1st - 5th Workshops on Green and Safe Computing (GreenSCom) held in Russia, Slovakia and the Ukraine. The book presents a systematic exposition of research on principles, models, components and complex systems and a description of industry- and society-oriented aspects of the green IT engineering. A chapter-oriented structure has been adopted for this book following a “vertical view” of the green IT, from hardware (CPU and FPGA) and software components to complex industrial systems. The 15 chapters of the book are grouped into five sections: (1) Methodology and Principles of Green IT Engineering for Complex Systems, (2) Green Components and Programmable Systems, (3) Green Internet Computing, Cloud and Communication Systems, (4) Modeling and Assessment of Green Computer Systems and Infrastructures, and (5) Green PLC-Based Systems for Industry Applications. The chapters provide an easy to follow, comprehensive introduction to the topics that are addressed, including the most relevant references, so that anyone interested in them can start the study by being able to easily find an introduction to the topic through these references. At the same time, all of them correspond to different aspects of the work in progress being carried out by various research groups throughout the world and, therefore, provide information on the state of the art of some of these topics, challenges and perspectives.

Download or read book Intelligent Information Processing V written by Zhongzhi Shi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-10-05 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises the 6th IFIP International Conference on Intelligent Infor- tion Processing. As the world proceeds quickly into the Information Age, it encounters both successes and challenges, and it is well recognized nowadays that intelligent information processing provides the key to the Information Age and to mastering many of these challenges. Intelligent information processing supports the most - vanced productive tools that are said to be able to change human life and the world itself. However, the path is never a straight one and every new technology brings with it a spate of new research problems to be tackled by researchers; as a result we are not running out of topics; rather the demand is ever increasing. This conference provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia and industry to present their latest research findings in all aspects of intelligent information processing. This is the 6th IFIP International Conference on Intelligent Information Processing. We received more than 50 papers, of which 35 papers are included in this program as regular papers and 4 as short papers. We are grateful for the dedicated work of both the authors and the referees, and we hope these proceedings will continue to bear fruit over the years to come. All papers submitted were reviewed by two referees. A conference such as this cannot succeed without help from many individuals who contributed their valuable time and expertise.
Download or read book Algorithms for Memory Hierarchies written by Ulrich Meyer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-04-07 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Algorithms that have to process large data sets have to take into account that the cost of memory access depends on where the data is stored. Traditional algorithm design is based on the von Neumann model where accesses to memory have uniform cost. Actual machines increasingly deviate from this model: while waiting for memory access, nowadays, microprocessors can in principle execute 1000 additions of registers; for hard disk access this factor can reach six orders of magnitude. The 16 coherent chapters in this monograph-like tutorial book introduce and survey algorithmic techniques used to achieve high performance on memory hierarchies; emphasis is placed on methods interesting from a theoretical as well as important from a practical point of view.

Download or read book Dynamic and Robust Streaming in and between Connected Consumer Electronic Devices written by Peter van der Stok and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamic and Robust Streaming in and between Connected Consumer-Electronic Devices addresses a subject that is becoming more important over the years. On the one hand the arrival of home networks is imminent, and on the other hand we notice that chips integrate more and more functionality. The home network interconnects the Consumer Electronic (CE) devices in the home, and the individual CE-devices incorporate the chips to realize a ubiquitous streaming of video streams over this network. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges that face us. The book shows that there are many similarities between traditional networking and networks in the chip. However, there are some different operational conditions that lead to original solutions. Dynamic and Robust Streaming in and between Connected Consumer-Electronic Devices focuses on the robustness aspects of the chosen technologies in the area of video streaming. Management of resources such as memory, bandwidth, CPU cycles, bus–cycles is an aspect that is prominent in many of the sections.
