Book General and Synthetic Methods

Download or read book General and Synthetic Methods written by G Pattenden and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Book The Barbier Reaction and Related One step Processes

Download or read book The Barbier Reaction and Related One step Processes written by Cornelis Blomberg and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The significant increase in applications of Barbier and Barbier-type reactions in (in-) organic synthesis over the past twenty-five years, combined with repeated stimulation on the part of Springer-Verlag (Dr. R. Stumpe) were strong in centives for me to write this book. My earliest activities in this field include a modest and first-ever review article (in cooperation with Dr. F. A. Hartog who at that time (1977) did his doctoral research on the Barbier reaction). References to this review article, as mentioned in the Science Citation Index till recently are a good indication for a continued interest in this simple synthetic procedure. The subtitle of this monograph, Related One-Step Processes, may require the following clarification. A synthesis with the aid of an organometallic compound is usually carried out in two steps: 1) the organometallic reagent is prepared from an organo halide and a metal in a solvent, 2) a chosen substrate is added to this reagent. In a Barbier reaction these two steps are combined: a mixture of the organo halide and the substrate is added to a suspension of the metal-in an appropriate solvent.

Book Introductory Organic Reaction Mechanisms A color coded approach to arrow pushing

Download or read book Introductory Organic Reaction Mechanisms A color coded approach to arrow pushing written by Michael Leonard and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-10-06 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To master Organic Chemistry, it is essential to master mechanism. This book uses a novel approach to help you better understand the mechanisms of 80 common organic reactions. Each one is color coded so that you can clearly see the changes that take place during the reaction. The electrons involved in the mechanism are color coded, as are the arrows originating from those electrons and the bonds or lone pairs formed by them in the intermediates and product. As a result, you can trace specific pairs of electrons through an entire transformation. The description of what each mechanistic arrow means is color coded correspondingly so that it is easy to match up the text with the relevant portion of a reaction diagram.

Book Organic Syntheses Based on Name Reactions and Unnamed Reactions

Download or read book Organic Syntheses Based on Name Reactions and Unnamed Reactions written by Alfred Hassner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Synthetically useful organic reactions or reagents are often referred to by the name of the discoverer(s) or developer(s). Older name reactions are described in text books, but more recently developed synthetically useful reactions that may have been associated occasionally with a name are not always well known. For neither of the above are experimental procedures or references easy to find. In this monograph approximately 500 name reactions are included, of which over 200 represent newer name reactions and modern reagents. Each of these reactions are extremely useful for the contemporary organic chemistry researcher in industry or academic institutions. This book provides the information in an easily accessible form. In addition to seminal references and reviews, one or more examples for each name reaction are provided and a complete typical experimental procedure is included, to enable the student or researcher to immediately evaluate reaction conditions. Besides an alphabetical listing of reactions and reagents, cross references permit the organic practitioner to find those name reactions or reagents that enable specific transformations, such as, conversion of amines to nitriles, stereoselective reduction, fluoroalkylation, phenol alkynylation, asymmetric syntheses, allylic alkylation, nucleoside synthesis, cyclopentanation, hydrozirconation, to name a few. Emphasis has been placed on stereoselective and regioselective transformations as well as on enantioselective processes. The listing of reactions and reagents is supported by four indexes.
