Download or read book Reaching People Under 40 while Keeping People over 60 written by Edward H Hammett and published by Chalice Press. This book was released on 2007-02-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many established churches are facing a number of challenges in today's increasingly secular culture. Such a shift in many communities creates a challenge of church growth and church health when it seems that satisfying the needs of one group creates barriers to reaching another group. So many are asking, "How do you keep people over sixty years of age, who often hold church culture values-while at the same time reach people under forty, who often hold postmodern values?" If a church is interested in growing, this situation becomes a major challenge. Reaching People under 40 while Keeping People over 60 looks at the church as it seeks to function in a new world. It looks at the differences in the generations and at postmodernism - not just a generational difference but a global change. Most importantly, Reaching People under 40 while Keeping People over 60 looks at what a church can do in this new age to help the church survive - and thrive! Foreword by Bill Easum. A TCP Leadership Series title.

Book Peer Support Services Reaching People with Schizophrenia

Download or read book Peer Support Services Reaching People with Schizophrenia written by Megan Evans and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-04-11 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many mental health providers are seeking guidance in designing and improving peer support programs for people with mental illnesses. However, the evidence base in this area is limited by lack of consensus on the core components of peer support. This research provides a comprehensive, nuanced view of peer support reaching people with schizophrenia. Results of a realist review of 355 sources and interviews with experts in the field are presented. Realist review is an approach to evidence synthesis that asks, ‘What works, for whom, and in what circumstances?’ Results include a typology of key functions of peer support (e.g., being there, linkage to clinical care and community resources, systems advocacy, ongoing support), documented benefits (e.g., decreased acute care utilization, increased recovery), and implementation recommendations (e.g., critical mass of peer workers, supportive infrastructure, an organizational recovery orientation). The book is intended for program planners, managers, and researchers.

Book A Strategy For Reaching Secular People

Download or read book A Strategy For Reaching Secular People written by Ernan A. Norman, D. Min. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-05-11 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Ernan A. Norman, D.Min. has identified strategies to implement John 13:35 “All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other.” An excellent source for the essential principles of discipleship in a postmodern world. This book is written in nontechnical language based on the experiences as a student, pastor, and professor. I believe that the concepts presented are fundamental and are in harmony with the model demonstrated by Jesus during His ministry on earth. Meeting people at their level, putting their needs ahead of His own, treating people with respect, befriending the nonreligious and inviting them into a relationship with Himself are some of the concepts that are identified and supported as strategies for reaching secular people. This book is an outstanding and important piece of work, and easily readable. I would urge A Strategy for Reaching Secular People on members and leaders in every church – if they are willing to challenge basic assumptions and embrace change relative to reaching lost people. Strategies that remove the barriers that keep people from hearing about God’s love, and to create a warm, friendly, uncritical, and non-judgmental attitude of acceptance are clearly presented. Full of practical how-to’s and watch-out’s this book by Ernan Norman is for individuals serious about sharing the love of God. As we interact with and minister to secular people, matters such as marriage and family, academics, employment, addictions, and human rights must be addressed. Norman clearly gives strategies for intentional efforts to reach secular-postmodern men and women in our day. The central concept is the example of Jesus that we should follow. A must read! Weymouth Spence, Ed.D. President of Washington Adventist University

Book How to Lead a Church to Reach People and Grow

Download or read book How to Lead a Church to Reach People and Grow written by Robert A. Young and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-05 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a unique approach to church growth. It is written mainly to help churches that are declining, but will help all churches. The underlying premise is that churches do not grow and reach new people because they do not know how, or because they are so poorly structured and organized that they spend most of their time and efforts in conflict. This disrupts the fellowship and leaves very little time and energy for reaching new people. The subtitle could be, "Fifteen Essential Steps To Growth"- Basic growth and administrative principles. The combining of these areas makes this a unique book. Young has brought together these basic elements, from over 40 years of experience. . The book is a practical guide for a local church to follow to function efficiently and effectively, and reach people for Christ. When the steps are followed, and in the proper order, the church can pretty well be assured of growth and effective ministry. Dr. Robert A. Young is currently President of Samuelite Corp., Church Outreach and Consulting. He served as Associate Pastor/Administration of Walnut Street Baptist Church, Louisville, KY, and Park Cities Baptist Church, Dallas, TX, and President of the National Association of Church Business Administration. He has conducted "Total Church Consultations" and Capital Fund Campaigns for churches of all sizes and denominations. He is now available to serve churches as a consultant in these areas. He is also the author of "The Development of A Church Manual of Administrative Policies".

Book See Know Serve the People Within Your Reach

Download or read book See Know Serve the People Within Your Reach written by Thomas G. Bandy and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2013-08-20 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In See, Know & Serve, Tom Bandy shows how the transition between Christendom and Post-Christendom is unfolding at different speeds and with different twists in diverse regions and places, and that this development makes standardizing ministry practices, or using collections of "best practices," unsuccessful in growing God's mission. Bandy presents startlingly new ways to view congregations and communities, enabling leaders to understand the people within their reach on a granular level. The author demonstrates with real-world examples how organizations can translate this information into practical strategies and tactics. The book includes helpful charts and diagrams, making the material surprisingly easy to digest and share. This important, groundbreaking and convicting book lays out with depth and clarity a pioneering new way forward for every church and every mission-focused organization. Bandy shows how we can see the people in our communities with unparalleled clarity, so that we can serve them—fulfilling our mission—effectively.

This book goes in detail discussing five disciplines Christians should develop in order to effectively reach the nations and more specifically diaspora people near their locale. Testimonials ... "Bryan Galloway is deeply practical, and wonderfully brilliant. He understands the basics of cultural interaction like few do. At the same time, he cares deeply for the least reached peoples of the world, and carries that compassion to the significant diaspora population of North America who need to experience God's love." --- Linda Bergquist, Church Planting Catalyst, North American Mission Board "Here is an excellent, yet brief, book to assist in reaching the peoples among us. Galloway has done a wonderful job helping us understand the movement of the nations from God's perspective and our necessary response. This highly practical guide sets forth disciplines that are easily applied in our contexts." --- JD Payne, pastor, missiologist, author Strangers Next Door: Immigration, Migration, and Mission "Bryan and I have rubbed shoulders numerous times over the last several years. I can attest from personal observation: he practices in everyday life what he teaches in this helpful book! You have to admire the simplicity and usefulness of the 5-W's and 5-F's. While helpful for the solo reader, this book would be even more valuable for small groups to study, ponder, and put into practice." --- Larry Stuckey, Coordinator of Diaspora Initiatives, WorldVenture "Reaching The Nations is a Biblically-based missional handbook that begins with the heart of Jesus as recorded in Scripture and results in concrete steps for reaching the diaspora living among us. The reader will find this book inspiring, challenging, practical and timely. Bryan Galloway brings together the disciplines of missiology and cultural anthropology along with decades of personal experience. Bryan has lived the lifestyle that he advocates in his book. Get ready to embark on a journey to change the world from your own neighborhood while answering life's greatest calling - to make disciples of all peoples!" --- Mark Weible, Director of Church Planting, Greater Orlando Baptist Association "Wow! This book is so practical. Bryan Galloway's expertise, experience and heart for introducing Jesus to all resident people groups in North America is evident throughout the presentation. It is worthy of a second read in order to select suggestions relative to the reader's sphere of influence. The material is biblically based and highly motivational. Download or read book Context and Contextuality written by Vyacheslav Tsvirinko and published by Langham Publishing. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1988, hundreds of thousands of evangelical Christians have migrated to the United States of America from former Soviet Union countries, establishing many Russian-speaking immigrant congregations across the country. This study analyzes how these immigrant churches function in their new cultural, social, and religious context. Dr Vyacheslav Tsvirinko, a Russian who lived in the USA for over twenty-five years, examines the holism, authenticity and contextuality of the mission work done by churches in the Pacific Coast Slavic Baptist Association (PCSBA) in America. He defines authentic mission in light of three major Christian groups – the World Council of Churches, the Lausanne Movement, and Anabaptists – and uncovers startling insights on how PCSBA churches engage in mission, both back in their homeland and in the USA. The findings and conclusions of this work are invaluable to diasporic Christian communities who wish to address their authenticity in the way they do mission, both internationally and in their local context, creating a path to more fruitful gospel and kingdom work.
