Book The Relationship Between Organizational Citizenship Behaviors Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction in the Workplace

Download or read book The Relationship Between Organizational Citizenship Behaviors Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction in the Workplace written by Windy Lane Stinson and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research investigated the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviors, emotional intelligence, and job satisfaction. The purpose of the study was to gain a greater understanding of the antecedents of organizational citizenship behavior. Subjects were 71 employees of three golf and country clubs located in the southeastern part of the United States. The participants were given five surveys to complete. Correlation analyses and a multiple regression analysis were conducted on the data. The results indicated that cognitive job satisfaction was significantly correlated with organizational citizenship behaviors and that emotional intelligence was significantly correlated with the altruism dimension of organizational citizenship behaviors. The results also showed that emotional intelligence did not moderate the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. Exploratory analyses revealed that emotional intelligence did add unique variance to organizational citizenship behaviors above and beyond personality traits. Implications of the findings and future research are discussed.

Book Citizenship and Management in Public Administration

Download or read book Citizenship and Management in Public Administration written by Eran Vigoda-Gadot and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Citizenship and Management in Public Administration is an exciting journey into the nexus between two separate but close worlds: citizenship orientations and citizenship behavior as reflected in political science theory on one hand, and organizational sciences, work studies, management, and public administration on the other. The authors have combined theoretical thinking with empirical findings to support their theories, and the data presented has been collected over almost a decade of field studies and surveys of public organizations. Dealing with the nature and meaning of citizenship, this book looks at behavior and involvement in modern public worksites. The interdisciplinary studies are all concerned with achieving better integration of the theories and ideas on citizenship and bureaucracies, which are more frequently treated as independent domains in the social sciences. However, the authors suggest that they are closely related and should be analyzed in relation to one another. This unique book will appeal to academics of management and organizational behavior, public administration and those involved in researching the not-for-profit, or third, sector.

Book Non Standard Employment and Quality of Work

Download or read book Non Standard Employment and Quality of Work written by Tindara Addabbo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-12 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The international literature on non-standard employment has mostly focussed on its impact on employment, and more recently on working and living conditions. This volume explores these issues with special reference to Italy. Italy is characterized by very low participation rates (particularly women’s), a high degree of fragmentation of labour contracts and a very intense non-standard work diffusion that make this context a particularly interesting case for analysis. New elements of discussion are provided with reference to the interaction of non-standard work, employment probability and living conditions. Interesting insights on the impact of non-standard work on the transition to stable employment and workers’ careers emerge, suggesting a possible failure of companies’ internal systems of work evaluation. The effects on labour productivity and on companies’ performance are analysed. Within this framework, a new perspective on quality of work is suggested.

Download or read book Job Satisfaction as a Predictor of Organizational Citizenship Behavior written by Samanvitha Swaminathan and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Job Satisfaction at work has an influence on the level of Organizational Citizenship Behavior and in turn on work performance. The aim of this study is to determine and establish a relationship between Job Satisfaction (JS) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among faculty in higher education institutions. In this study we have employed the Wong's Job Satisfaction and Organ's Organizational Citizenship Behavior inventories to quantify the JS and OCB levels respectively. Samples from 252 faculty members in Tamil Nadu, India were used to obtain the empirical base for the study. Correlation and multiple regression analyses were used to interpret the data. Our results demonstrate that there is a positive relationship between JS and factors that constitute the OCB.

Book An Empirical Analysis of the Effect of Work related Values and Value Congruence on Job Satisfaction Organizational Commitment Task Performance and Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Download or read book An Empirical Analysis of the Effect of Work related Values and Value Congruence on Job Satisfaction Organizational Commitment Task Performance and Organizational Citizenship Behavior written by Wanda V. Chaves and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examined the relationship between individual values and value congruence and job satisfaction, organizational commitment, task performance, and organizational citizenship behavior. The present study was conducted with 192 sales personnel in a sales organization with offices along the eastern seaboard of the United States. The values systems this study examined included Hofstede's Work-Related Values System (1994) and O'Reilley, Chatman, and Caldwell's (1989) Person-Organization Profile Values System. A questionnaire was developed to measure Hofstede's Social, Power, Uncertainty, and Goal orientations. The relationship between the values within O'Reilley, Chatman, and Caldwell's Organizational Culture-Profile was also examined via a factor and item analyses. The analyses yielded three value dimensions: Interpersonal, Ambiguity, and Achievement. It was hypothesized that individual level values on Hofstede's Social, Power, and Goal Orientation would predict job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and organization citizenship behavior. It was also expected that individual level values on Hofstede's Goal Orientation would predict task performance. In terms of the fit between the individual and organizational values, it was hypothesized that fit on Hofstede's four dimensions and O'Reilley, Chatman, and Caldwell's three dimensions would predict job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and organization citizenship behavior. Also, it was expected that fit in terms of Hofstede's Goal Orientation and O'Reilley, Chatman, and Caldwell's Achievement Dimension would predict task performance. Results for the relationship between individual values, value congruence, and job outcomes provided partial support for the hypotheses. Hofstede's Uncertainty Orientation significantly predicted job satisfaction (r = -.20). Specifically, individuals who espoused more uncertainty avoiding values exhibited higher levels of satisfaction. Hofstede's Social Orientation (r = -.19) and Goal Orientation (r = -.25) were also found to significantly predict organizational commitment. Individuals who espoused more collectivist and aggressive goal behavior values exhibited greater levels of organizational commitment. Results for fit indicated that person-organization fit on Hofstede's Power Orientation significantly predicted job satisfaction (r = .17) and organizational commitment (r = .24). Fit on O'Reilley et al.'s Achievement Dimension was also found to be significantly related to task performance (r = .22). The impact of values and fit on job outcomes may have large implications for the financial success of some companies as well as the satisfaction and commitment of employees. Future research should explore other value systems and explore other operationalizations of fit.

This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global competition and advancements in Information Technology have stimulated implementation of innovative HR practices, often termed as High Performance Work Practices (HPWP) to improve the performance of the employees. HPWP may be regarded as a combination of innovative HR practices which tend to maximize employee knowledge, skills and performance of the employees which in turn leads to persistent performance improvements resulting in employee satisfaction and a sense of personal achievement. The present study seeks to analyze the relationship of implementing High Performance Work Practices on the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of the employees. OCB includes such individual behaviors that are beneficial to the organization but not directly recognized by the formal reward system and can contribute to performance and competitive advantage. Positive Psychological Capital is defined as the positive and developmental state of an individual. In the present study, the role of Positive Psychological Behavior (Psycap) on the HPWP and OCB relationship is being analyzed.

Book How Do Satisfied Workers Behave Relationship Between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Citizenship Behavior Against Career Plateau

Download or read book How Do Satisfied Workers Behave Relationship Between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Citizenship Behavior Against Career Plateau written by Kyuyun Park and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper aims to compare the characteristics of satisfied and unsatisfied workers in a career plateau context. It takes into account quantitative analyses provided by other researchers to invert the causal relationship of factors that lead to job satisfaction to rather identify the traits of satisfied workers. Those characteristics are defined as organizational citizenship behavior that is presumed to avert the effects of career plateau upon institutionalization. This research methodology is taken after understanding that perceived job satisfaction is subjective and beyond scope of conventional empirical research. The researcher further aims to provide insight on organization leaders and managers.

Book Dealing with Diversity

Download or read book Dealing with Diversity written by George B. Graen and published by IAP. This book was released on 2003-11-01 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diversity in the workplace has made significant progress in United States companies. Unfortunately, much of the apparent progress has been at the surface level of diversity (Hiller & Day, 2004), where readily visible characteristics identify people of varying genders, ages, ethnicity, and religions. What are needed are prescriptions, based on solid theory and research, that will allow the deep-level diversity to transform well intentioned affirmative action programs from their old reliance on surface-level diversity to a new reliance on deep-level diversity. It is our hope that this volume will stimulate the scholarly activity needed to make progress toward the above stated goal of making deep-level diversity the benchmark of human progress in the workplace.

Book Does Job Satisfaction Influence Organizational Citizenship Behavior An Empirical Study in Selected 4 Star Hotels in Jakarta Indonesia

Download or read book Does Job Satisfaction Influence Organizational Citizenship Behavior An Empirical Study in Selected 4 Star Hotels in Jakarta Indonesia written by Arif Budiman and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasing organizational survivability has no longer become an option, but a must. This may well be due to the impact of globalization, which has not only opened up international trade, but also increasing international competition (Evans, Pucik, & Bjorkman, 2011; Hubbard, Rice, & Beamish, 2008; Thompson, Gamble, & Strickland III, 2004). In the rush of international trade and competition in much of borderless nations these days, Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), as a passive construct, has been proven to be beneficial for both employees and employers alike (Bergeron, Shipp, Rosen, & Furst, 2011; Mohanty & Rath, 2012; Nielsen, Bachrach, Sundstrom, & Halfhill, 2012; Noor, 2009; Yaghoubi, Mashinchi, & Hadi, 2010; Özturk, 2010). This study seeks to analyze OCB in trying to determine its most influential factor. By far, previous researches have indicated that factors of job satisfaction have the most influence towards OCB (Intaraprasong, Dityen, Krugkrunjit, & Subhadrabandhu, 2012; Mohammad, Habib, & Alias, 2011; Swaminathan & Jawahar, 2013). The main purpose of this research is to single out the most influential element of job satisfaction towards OCB that can be managed or controlled in some way by organizations. Data gathering is performed by means of questionnaire distributions in 4-star hotels in Jakarta. Data analysis and testing are computed in statistical software to note the level of correlations and influences of elements of job satisfaction towards OCB. However, strength of influence barely hits minimum, providing a base for future research on other factors that may be more influential towards OCB.

Book Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Download or read book Organizational Citizenship Behavior written by Dennis W. Organ and published by SAGE Publications. This book was released on 2005-06-15 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Its Nature, Antecedents, and Consequences examines the vast amount of work that has been done on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in recent years as it has increasingly evoked interest among researchers in organizational psychology. No doubt some of this interest can be attributed to the long-held intuitive sense that job satisfaction matters. Authors Dennis W. Organ, Philip M. Podsakoff, and Scott B. MacKenzie offer conceptual insight as they build upon the various works that have been done on the subject and seek to update the record about OCB. Key Features: Explores how OCB translates into objective measures of efficiency, profitability, customer satisfaction, and other criteria of organizational functioning Examines how important OCB is in other societal cultures and correlates findings from North American studies Addresses the relative importance of individual personality as a factor in determining OCB OCB has become a foundation for concepts in Organizational Studies. This book provides an all-encompassing resource for students, scholars, and practitioners looking for a comprehensive understanding on this key topic. It is an excellent textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students studying organizational behavior or organizational psychology in courses such as Strategic Human Resource Management, Measurement of Work Performance; Behavioral Organization Theory; and Social Psychology of Organizations.
