Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book This is the second book for author Susanne Ross. Self-described as “writing like a 9-year-old,” Ross sees poetry in EVERYTHING. Inspiration comes to her in the mundane, everyday things: people; places; events; observations; musings; nature; the weather; feelings and experiences (particularly from her dysfunctional childhood). She has a strong enthusiasm and passion for life. Within her books, she attempts to paint a vivid picture with words, as she writes spontaneously, thoughtfully, from the heart, with feeling. About the Author Susanne Ross grew up in a Navy family and has lived all over the United States, and overseas as well. Her own childhood was very rocky in that her parents divorced, remarried, and then divorced once again. She grew up in a very chaotic home, to say the least. Susanne had a long and successful work history, and now she is happily retired. She lives with her long-time fiancé, along with a special cat, in San Diego, California, her hometown. She has two adult children as well, ages 27 and 38. She is a retired civil servant, having worked for cities, counties, state, and federal governments, as well as for an elementary- and middle-school district, a community college district, in addition to having worked for a private practice (retired) dentist as one of his chairside assistants—as an RDA. Being now retired, Susanne has plenty of time to write, which she finds thoroughly enjoyable.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Random Ramblings By: Susanne Ross These Random Ramblings are just things that needed to be placed onto paper. Author Susanne Ross attempts to provide some lessons about life as well, or to put a POSITIVE SPIN, or a helpful ending, as she was raised in a very chaotic, dysfunctional home, fraught with two divorces of her parents, and she had very little guidance while growing up. Therefore, she ATTEMPTS, in a roundabout way, to draw a roadmap for life, in some of her poems—a roadmap SHE NEVER HAD, in other words.... We should remember we all are not alone in our humanity in how we view, and experience, this life upon planet Earth.

Download or read book God Greed and the Prosperity Gospel written by Costi W. Hinn and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A captivating first-person look at one of the world's most powerful prosperity dynasties that offers a unique perspective on greed, the Church, and the journey toward Truth. Millions desperate for hope and solutions are enticed by the promise of the prosperity gospel--that God will do whatever they need with just a little faith and a financial gift. All the while, prosperity preachers exploit the poor and needy to stockpile their riches. What can followers of the true gospel do to combat the deception? Through a remarkable and fascinating journey, Costi Hinn went from a next-generation prosperity preacher to the first to abandon the family faith and share the true gospel. Nephew of the world-famous televangelist, Benny Hinn, Costi had a front-row seat to the inner workings and theology of the prosperity gospel. But as Costi's faith deepened, so did his questions about prosperity teaching. As the deceptions in his past were exposed, Costi came face to face with the hypocrisy and devastation caused by his belief system, and the overwhelming truth about the real Jesus Christ. This captivating look into the daily lives of one of the world's leading prosperity dynasties offers a thoughtful perspective on the perils of greed, the power of the true gospel, and hope for the future of the global church. Through real-life stories, Costi challenges and equips readers to be living lights pointing the way to the true gospel and the saving grace of Christ. God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel will bolster your faith and encourage your own journey toward the Truth. Spanish edition also available.

Book By What Standard

Book excerpt: "Diversity, tolerance, inclusivity, and social justice are the chief values of postmodernity and political correctness. In a culture where these are deemed some of the last remaining virtues and biblical principles are routinely scorned, what should the church's posture be? Should Christians adjust the gospel, remodel our message, and bring our statements of faith more in line with the world's thinking? To ask that question is to answer it. But in case the answer isn't clear, these superbly-written essays spell it out in brilliant detail. I'm grateful for the courage of these men and the clarity of their voices. This is a vitally important volume, sounding all the right notes of passion, warning, instruction, and hope."--Phil Johnson, Executive Director of Grace To You

Book The Laughing Librarian

Download or read book The Laughing Librarian written by Jeanette C. Smith and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the stodgy stereotypes, libraries and librarians themselves can be quite funny. The spectrum of library humor from sources inside and outside the profession ranges from the subtle wit of the New Yorker to the satire of Mad. This examination of American library humor over the past 200 years covers a wide range of topics and spans the continuum between light and dark, from parodies to portrayals of libraries and their staffs as objects of fear. It illuminates different types of librarians--the collector, the organization person, the keeper, the change agent--and explores stereotypes like the shushing little old lady with a bun, the male scholar-librarian, the library superhero, and the anti-stereotype of the sexy librarian. Profiles of the most prominent library humorists round out this lively study.
