Book Guidelines For Raising Children

Book excerpt: Islam places great emphasis on the child, right from infancy to the age of puberty. The reason for this is to prepare him to become a good member of the community. Children learn more by example than by words. Telling our children what to do and not showing them by a good example is a hypocritical act and drives children to confusion and away from us. It is for this reason we are presenting this booklet as a guideline for those parents who are concerned about their present and future offspring

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I believe that parenting is a serious job which must be undertaken consciously; clearly understanding what it entails. Children have a right to have good parents who can be role models for them and who can not only teach them the tools to succeed in this life, but also to take from the treasures of Allah and succeed in the life to come. Whether you like it or not, you are your child's role model. Your choice is to decide what kind of role model you want to be - one that they can look up to or one that they have to look down on. Children listen with their eyes. They don't care what you say until they see what you do. Today, young Muslim parents are anxious to ensure that their children are brought up as practicing Muslims and are a credit to themselves and their parents. This little book is a consolidation of all the things that I have said to people in answer to their questions.

Book Raising Children in Islam

Download or read book Raising Children in Islam written by Suhaib Hasan and published by . This book was released on 2020-03-21 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based not only on years of specialised study in this field but also reflects my own personal experiences in a family filled with children over 30 years of married life. I was brought up in a conservative and deeply religious family in the Indian subcontinent. I had my own turbulent experiences of helping my wife raise our own six children, initially in a simple Asian/African community in Kenya, and later in the complex multicultural environment of Britain.Through the progress of my progeny from school to university, I learned of the British educational system, from the egalitarian approach of modern comprehensive schools, an idealistic concept often defeated by lack of funding, to the elitist and successful private sector which insists on rigorous discipline, tradition and high academic achievement.Life in Britain opens the door to a myriad of contrasts in value systems, customs, races and beliefs. The Muslim discovers that his Islamic values and faith are not only alien to the dominant western culture throughout the society, but that the two insist on locking horns in battle. This struggle of two opposing yet equally dogmatic belief systems engulfs and threatens to drown the Muslims. Some fortunate ones swim through the ocean of parenthood with smiling faces, having successfully negotiated the obstacles thrown their way. They smile because not only have they survived the test with their own faith and values intact, but have also succeeded in transmitting their beliefs and norms to their children. Imagine the content and sense of achievement parents must feel when observing their adult children who too share the same love and devotion to the Mosque, the Quran and the many Islamic precepts. In a world obsessed with materialism and denial of God, this is truly a great achievement.Unhappily there are many more parents who flounder and sink, who do not share this sense of achievement and jubilation, and who weep with sorrow and failure when observing their own offspring: aged parents confronted with the dreadful spectacle of their indecently dressed daughter going to the pub with her arms around her current boyfriend, or their beloved son who buys the attentions of street women and even fathers illegitimate children. These parents feel as if the earth is dropping from under their feet and they are being swallowed by quicksand, powerless and helpless. They wish they could have a second chance at raising their children but there is never a second chance. This small booklet is presented to those young men and women beginning the long journey of parenthood, in the hope that they may never shed the tears of the defeated.

Download or read book Raising Children in Islam written by Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq Bin Abdul Al Badr and published by . This book was released on 2015-09-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Allāh (Glorified be He) says: "Your wealth and your children are only a trial." [Sūrah at-Taghābun 64:15]Allāh honored you and bestowed upon you sons and daughters as a trial for you-a test, a tribulation-so that it can be observed whether or not you will take care of them, discipline them, teach them and straighten their behavior; or, will you neglect this trust or put this obligation to waste. Surely, from the attributes of the believers whose faith and salvation has been confirmed is their keeping of the Amānah (what they have been entrusted with) as Allāh (The Blessed and Sublime) has said at the beginning of Sūrah al-Mu'minūn while mentioning the attributes of those whose faith has materialized: "Successful indeed are the believers." [Sūrah al-Mu'minūn 23:1]Then He mentioned their attributes, from which are: "Those who are faithfully true to their Amānāt (plural of Amānah: all the duties which Allāh has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts) and to their covenants; (8) and those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawāt (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours). (9) These are indeed the inheritors. (10) Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever." [Sūrah al-Mu'minūn 23:8-11]Being faithfully true to the Amānah: "O you who believe! Betray not Allāh and His Messenger, nor betray knowingly your Amānāt (things entrusted to you, and all the duties which Allāh has ordained for you." [Sūrah al-Anfāl 8:27]So neglecting the Amānah is a seriously dangerous matter, and keeping the Amānah is an attribute of the wholesome believers whose faith has been actualized along with their happiness in the life of this world and the Hereafter.

Download or read book Counseling Muslims written by Sameera Ahmed and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A young female client presents with anorexia nervosa and believes that her problem has its roots in magic; parents are helpless in the face of their son's substance abuse issues; an interracial couple cannot agree on how to discipline their children. How would you effectively help these clients while balancing appropriate interventions that are sensitive to religious, cultural, social, and gender differences? This handbook answers these difficult questions and helps behavioral health practitioners provide religio-culturally-competent care to Muslim clients living in territories such as North America, Australia, and Europe. The issues and interventions discussed in this book, by authoritative contributors, are diverse and multifaceted. Topics that have been ignored in previous literature are introduced, such as sex therapy, substance abuse counseling, university counseling, and community-based prevention. Chapters integrate tables, lists, and suggested phrasing for practitioners, along with case studies that are used by the authors to help illustrate concepts and potential interventions. Counseling Muslims is also unique in its broad scope, which reflects interventions ranging from the individual to community levels, and includes chapters that discuss persons born in the West, converts to Islam, and those from smaller ethnic minorities. It is the only guide practitioners need for information on effective service delivery for Muslims, who already bypass significant cultural stigma and shame to access mental health services.
