Book Radiologic Atlas of Bone Tumors

Download or read book Radiologic Atlas of Bone Tumors written by Jacob Dennis Mulder and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardbound. Unlike most of the recent publications on bone tumors, this book has been written by radiologists, and hence with the emphasis on the radiologic approach to the diagnosis of bone tumors. The authors provide clear and comprehensive descriptions of clinical and radiologic data of bone tumors and tumor-like lesions, and how this information can best be used to arrive at a reliable diagnosis; this data is also presented in the form of easy-to-consult tables. The book gives a clear overview of the diversity in the radiographic image of all malignant and benign bone tumors, and of many tumor-like bone lesions, by displaying more than 1500 illustrations (chosen from more than 8000 fully documented files from the Netherlands Committee on Bone Tumors) which stress the typical and atypical features that would fit a diagnosis. As well as the conventional radiograph, all of the modern imaging techniques (CT, MRI, isotope scintigraphy, etc.) are fully dis

Book Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors and Their Mimics

Download or read book Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors and Their Mimics written by A.M.A. de Schepper and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic resonance imaging has already become a most valuable imaging modality in the diagnostic work-up of musculoskeletal neoplasms. While high accuracy of MRI for staging purposes has been proven, we will focus in this monograph on the characterization of primary bone and soft tissue tumors by MRI. The major purpose of this monograph is to provide an atlas of magnetic resonance features of primary bone and soft tissue tumors for radiologists, orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapists. The results presented are based on investigations of 94 primary bone and soft tissue tumors and mimicking conditions by magnetic resonance imaging. Although the scale of the material allows for statistical handling, the number of patients per subgroup is too small to come to definite conclusions. We will therefore limit ourselves to the description of and comments on a great number of cases to illustrate the diagnostic potential of this new imaging modality. We would like to thank the anonymous cooperators: referring clinicians, pathologists, nurses, technicians and secretaries whose help enabled us to present this monograph. We would also like to express our gratitude to the firms Siemens AG and Schering AG for technical support.

Book Atlas of Musculoskeletal Tumors and Tumorlike Lesions

Download or read book Atlas of Musculoskeletal Tumors and Tumorlike Lesions written by Piero Picci and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-18 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reflects the experience of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute during more than 100 years of treatment of musculoskeletal tumor and tumorlike lesions. It presents a wide range of lesions from a multidisciplinary perspective, highlighting pertinent clinical, radiological, and histological correlations. Treatment is briefly reported for each entity. In addition, the more recent biomolecular findings of use for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are carefully analyzed. The Rizzoli case archive spans more than a century, the first treated case dating back to 28 September 1900, and contains the original material – clinical charts, imaging, paraffin blocks, and histological slides – of more than 40,000 cases, including about 29,000 bone lesions and 11,000 soft tissue lesions. This book reports the most relevant entities and reflects the improvements in knowledge of musculoskeletal tumors as presented during the yearly international course held at the Rizzoli Institute.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bone Tumors: A Practical Guide to Imaging is a concise guide to common tumors encountered by physicians in daily practice. The authors make use of high-yield facts, differential diagnoses, and extensive radiological images to introduce a wide range of bone tumors, focusing on their classic appearance and location in order to provide readers with a solid foundation of knowledge for tumor recognition and evaluation. The book includes explanations of methods for properly evaluating bone lesions, common imaging modalities used for diagnosis, and individual chapters covering different classes of benign and malignant tumors, including cartilage, osseous, fibrous, miscellaneous, and bone metastases. The book concludes with a comprehensive selection of 75 unknown cases, including brief clinical history, description of imaging findings, best differential diagnoses, and short discussion revealing the most likely diagnosis. Bone Tumors is an ideal resource for practicing physicians and residents in radiology, orthopedic surgery, pathology, and primary care. About the Authors Jim S. Wu, MD, is Assistant Professor of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. Mary G. Hochman, MD, is Chief of the Section of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.

Book Oncologic Imaging Bone Tumors

Download or read book Oncologic Imaging Bone Tumors written by Heung Sik Kang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to provide readers with a sound understanding of the spectrum of radiologic appearances of bone tumors, which reflect histopathology, and the pattern analysis of imaging findings. The first part of the book explains basic concepts and diagnostic parameters, including demographics, lesion location, biological activity, matrix mineralization, and endosteal and periosteal reactions. In the second part, typical and atypical radiologic features of bone tumors are reviewed in detail, with emphasis on the characteristic radiographic and MR imaging findings and reference to schematic drawings and pathologic or operative images when appropriate. The third part focuses on problem solving in cases encountered in real radiology practice and identifies categorical patterns on the basis of radiographic and MR variables and lesion location. Informative cases are illustrated and compared to enhance understanding of differential diagnosis using pattern analysis. The final part of the book helps readers to consolidate what they have learned and to hone their diagnostic reasoning skills by presenting about 30 typical bone tumor cases with questions, answers, and commentary.
