Book Radical Healership

Download or read book Radical Healership written by Laura Mae Northrup and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2022-02-22 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The countercultural healer’s guide for building a sustainable and values-driven practice: work toward your purpose, grow your client base, and thrive with integrity in an unjust capitalist system. The time for healing—and the time to be a healer—is now. Therapist Laura Mae Northrup navigates the complexities of being a healer today—and shows how you can stay true to your calling in a world built from systems that were designed to extract, oppress, and exploit. Addressing fundamental tensions that arise for practicing healers working in a late-stage capitalist culture, Northrup shares how to: • Maintain your ethical framework even while prioritizing financial stability • Market and brand your practice authentically, without resorting to fear-based tactics • Recognize the unconscious biases and unexamined motivations you unintentionally bring to work • Honor your limits within a culture that valorizes overwork and perpetuates burnout • Prioritize your emotional needs and spiritual goals—and honor their place in your healing practice Structured in accessible, to-the-point chapters with practical writing and reflection prompts, Northrup offers an authentic, spiritually grounded approach to healership, going much deeper than the promise of a million-dollar practice or a minimum-effort game plan. Written for healers of all modalities—including radical therapists, functional practitioners, reiki workers, bodyworkers, and healers who have been sidelined, underfunded, underresearched, or delegitimized within a Western capitalist framework—this book offers a nuanced, political, and social-justice informed guide to building the practice you want—and thriving as the healer you were born to be.

Book The Power of Awareness

Download or read book The Power of Awareness written by Neville and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2012-12-27 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A beautiful edition of one of the twentieth century’s most powerful and intriguing works on how to use the manifesting powers of your mind. Features the bonus book, Awakened Imagination. Here is a signature volume of one of the most quietly impactful and radical works ever written on the creative potentialities of human thought, The Power of Awareness. In this book, author Neville presents a concise, unforgettable statement of his core philosophy: that the world around you is a picture in your mind’s eye, created by your thinking, and susceptible to change by altering your thoughts and feelings. Originally published in 1952, The Power of Awareness not only prefigured the revolution in mind-power metaphysics, but surpassed it. Before the public had heard about quantum physics experiments (popularized in our own time through movies such as The Secret and What the Bleep Do We Know!?), Neville was conveying the unheard-of message that reality is directly impacted by the perspective and consciousness of the observer himself. Moreover, he wrote, each of us is ultimately responsible for, and capable of reshaping, the outer circumstances we perceive. Neville’s authorial genius is his ability to deliver these ideas in an immensely readable and enjoyable way. Like few other metaphysical figures of his era, Neville captured complexities in simple stories, memorable examples, and practical advice. His books are unfailingly brief and easy to read, because his command of his material is so masterly and complete. The Power of Awareness also includes a special bonus work, Awakened Imagination, originally published in 1954. This two-in-one volume forms a brilliant introduction and user’s guide to the practical philosophy of a great spiritual thinker.

Book The Beauty of Discomfort

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do some people drive change while others are blindsided by it? Why are some people able to adapt and thrive? How can we make change easier? Truly successful people don’t merely tolerate discomfort—they embrace it and seek it out again and again. Business founders and university students, top athletes and couch potatoes, meditation gurus and military leaders all have very different ways of coping with discomfort, but the most successful among them believe that withstanding discomfort is a skill that has helped them in hugely positive ways. Some were forced into discomfort through no choice of their own—a life-altering illness, a business fiasco—while others signed up for it because they had goals they were determined to achieve. Some degree of discomfort is inherently good for you. It can spur you on, pushing you to test your own limits. Learning to tolerate, and then embrace, discomfort is the foundation for change, for individuals and businesses alike. Becoming comfortable with discomfort won’t just make us more resilient and more successful, however we define success. It will also make us happier.

Book An Analysis and History of Inflation

Download or read book An Analysis and History of Inflation written by Don Paarlberg and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1993 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This history and analysis examines fifteen great inflations--from Ancient Rome to the French Revolution to post-World War I Germany to modern-day Brazil--to provide an understanding of the causes of inflation. A unique feature of the book is the evidence presented that a moderate degree of inflation is usually accompanied by increased economic activity. Contrary to the views of many, moderate inflation appears to be welcomed by most people and assists in returning incumbent political leaders to power. In addition, the money illusion, the belief that money has constant value over time, is shown by the author to be grievously in error. Presenting views which are at odds with much of mainstream economics, Paarlberg concludes that inflation is caused by an excess of money, and since the creation of money is a government monopoly, governments are responsible for inflation. Additionally, various macroeconomic theories are unable to account for gyrations of production and prices. The best explanation for these matters, therefore, is to be found in institutional economics, which takes into regard whatever forces exist rather than focusing on a select few while purporting to hold others constant. This thoughtful work will be of interest to scholars, students, and laypersons in economics and economic history.
