Book Radiative Transitions in Heavy Mesons in a Relativistic Quark Model

Download or read book Radiative Transitions in Heavy Mesons in a Relativistic Quark Model written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The radiative decays of D*, B*, and other excited heavy mesons are analyzed in a relativistic quark model for the light degrees of freedom and in the limit of heavy quark spin-flavor symmetry. The analysis of strong decays carried out in the corresponding chiral quark model is used to calculate the strong decays and determine the branching ratios of the radiative D* decays. Consistency with the observed branching ratios requires the inclusion of the heavy quark component of the electromagnetic current and the introduction of an anomalous magnetic moment for the light quark. It is observed that not only D, but also B meson transitions within a heavy quark spin multiplet are affected by the presence of the heavy quark current.

Book Meson Spectroscopy in the Framework of Constituent Quark Models

Download or read book Meson Spectroscopy in the Framework of Constituent Quark Models written by Antony Prakash Monteiro and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complexity of quantum chromodynamics in the non-perturbative domain forces physicist to resort to models in order to describe the phenomena of intermediate energy physics and hence this book develops three different quark models to study light and some heavy mesons: a non relativistic quark model with one-gluon-exchange potential(OGEP) and Instanton-Induced Interaction (III); a semi-relativistic quark model with OGEP and III where the confinement of the quark is modeled with the relativistic harmonic model; a relativistic model where the features of the two previous models are supplemented with the introduction of gluon confinement and thus confined one-gluon-exchange potential (COGEP). Both tensor and spin-orbit parts of the interactions are taken into account in all the three models. It begins with an introduction to the quark model of hadrons covering the SU(3) symmetry in chapter 1 and it discusses in detail the constituent quark models in chapter 2. The three models and a description on decays are developed in chapters 3 and 4. The results and conclusions are presented in chapters 5 and 6. This book predicts mass spectra and certain decays of light and some heavy mesons.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the discovery of the heavy mesons spectra comes the role of the theorists to model the spectra in order to endorse it. This work is involved computational modeling and simulations of quark-antiquark interactions. Specifically, studying the so-called Spectra of the Quarkonium, which discusses the heavy mesons properties. I utilize the framework of the non-relativistic quark model in proposing two potential models of heavy mesons. In addition to that, investigating some popular numerical techniques, which are frequently used in the literature. My conclusions have far reaching consequences for both particle physics and computational physics.

Book excerpt: We consider the non-relativistic limit of the QCD Hamiltonian in the Coulomb gauge, to describe radiative transitions between conventional charmonium states and from the lowest multiplet of cc ̄ hybrids to charmonium mesons. The results are compared to potential quark models and lattices calculations.

Book Extended Objects And Bound Systems From Relativistic Description To Phenomenological Application Proceedings Of The International Symposium

Download or read book Extended Objects And Bound Systems From Relativistic Description To Phenomenological Application Proceedings Of The International Symposium written by S Naka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1993-02-08 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Counterfeiting, which has emerged as a recent global phenomenon, has arisen due to economic liberalisation, the changing nature of society and new competitive structures. Branding has become an increasingly important area of research in marketing as well as a crucial decision-making area in strategic marketing management. Counterfeit-related activities challenge the existing theoretical and methodological framework in many ways, particularly consumer behavior and branding. This book brings together the three areas — counterfeiting, branding and consumer behaviour — within a very robust methodological and statistical modelling framework.

Book Mesons And Baryons Systematization And Methods Of Analysis

Download or read book Mesons And Baryons Systematization And Methods Of Analysis written by A V Anisovich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008-09-04 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the investigation of the strongly interacting hadrons — to a quark model operating with effective color particles, constituent quarks, massive effective gluons and diquarks. The study of strong interactions based on effective constituent particles requires a solid ground of experimental data, which we now have at our disposal with the serious progress made in the investigation of hadrons, especially meson states. The present understanding of QCD applied to strong interactions can be distorted by prejudices. Therefore, the way followed by the quark model is to rely on the experiment and to restore the effective Hamiltonian on the basis of QCD on the one hand, and, on the other, of the spectral integral method.Baryon-baryon and antibaryon-baryon interactions are studied with the purpose of unambiguous applications of the written formulae to the interpretation of experimental data — to the observation of new meson and baryon resonances. The technique used is the spin-orbital momentum expansion of the amplitude. This method is our basic approach to the proper treatment of experimental data. The photon-induced reactions are also considered and the problem of form factors is discussed.

Book Nstar 2001 Proceedings Of The Workshop On The Physics Of Excited Nucleons

Download or read book Nstar 2001 Proceedings Of The Workshop On The Physics Of Excited Nucleons written by Dieter Drechsel and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001-08-28 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of N∗s can provide us with critical insights into the nature of QCD in the confinement domain. The keys to progress in this domain are the identification of its important degrees of freedom and the effective forces between them. The nucleon is the simplest system in which the nonabelian character of QCD is manifest. There are Nc quarks in a baryon because there are Nc colors, and as a consequence Gell-Mann and Zweig were forced to introduce the quarks in order to describe the octet and decuplet baryons. This volume gives a status report on the recent experimental and theoretical results in the field of nucleon resonance physics. A wealth of new high precision data was presented from facilities around the world, such as BES, BNL, ELSA, GRAAL, JLab, MAMI, MIT/Bates, SPring8, and Yerevan. Particular emphasis was laid on polarization degrees of freedom and large acceptance detectors as precision tools for studying small but important transition amplitudes, and the helicity (spin) structure of the nucleon. There were new results describing the nucleon resonance structure on the basis of quantum chromodynamics, either directly in terms of quarks and gluons by means of lattice gauge theory, or in terms of hadrons in the framework of chiral field theories. A status report on duality showed the surprising connections between the physics of the low energy nucleon resonance region and the realm of quark structure functions in deep inelastic scattering. Finally, this volume contains a summary report of the BRAG workshop, devoted to the analysis of baryon resonances.
