Book Radiation Scattering and Guidance of Electromagnetic Fields by Arbitrarily Shaped Structures Embedded in Layered Dielectric Media

Download or read book Radiation Scattering and Guidance of Electromagnetic Fields by Arbitrarily Shaped Structures Embedded in Layered Dielectric Media written by K. A. Michalski and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study has been completed for an aperture-coupled microstrip patch antennas with uniaxial substrates. In particular, by a rigorous spectral domain approach-a circular microstrip antenna excited by a fundamental microstrip line mode is analyzed through a rectangular aperture in a ground plane. A more efficient, but approximate, reciprocity theorem based method, has also been implemented. Finally, a mixed, spectral and space domain approach has been developed to analyze an arbitrarily shaped microstrip patch antenna coupled to a microstrip transmission line through an arbitrarily shaped aperture. The space domain method is used to model the arbitrarily shaped patch and aperture, and the semiinfinite transmission line is modeled in spectral domain. To corroborate the validity of the analysis, we have built a circular patch test antenna coupled to the transmission line through a rectangular aperture and measured its input impedance over a broad frequency range.

This book was released on 1993 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An integral equation approach based on the mixed-potential formulation is developed for the analysis of radiation, scattering and guidance of electromagnetic waves by arbitrarily shaped conducting objects in layered uniaxial media. This method is successfully applied to rigorously analyze coax- and waveguide-fed microstrip patch antennas of various shapes, as well as multiconductor transmission lines with conductors of various cross-section profiles, embedded in multilayered media. With the approach developed here, microstrip structures of various, possibly irregular shapes, embedded in multilayered isotropic or uniaxial substrates, may be investigated within one theoretical framework and using the same computer program.

Book Electromagnetic Scattering Analysis of Arbitrarily Shaped Material Cylinder by FEM BEM Method

Download or read book Electromagnetic Scattering Analysis of Arbitrarily Shaped Material Cylinder by FEM BEM Method written by M. D. Deshpande and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A hybrid method that combines the finite element method (FEM) and the boundary element method (BEM) is developed to analyze electromagnetic scattering from arbitrarily shaped material cylinders. By this method, the material cylinder is first enclosed by a fictitious boundary. Maxwell's equations are then solved by FEM inside and by BEM outside the boundary. Electromagnetic scattering from several arbitrarily shaped material cylinders is computed and compared with results obtained by other numerical techniques.

Book Efficient Integral Equation Solution of Electromagnetic Scattering by Arbitrarily Shaped Objects in Planar Multilayered Media

Download or read book Efficient Integral Equation Solution of Electromagnetic Scattering by Arbitrarily Shaped Objects in Planar Multilayered Media written by David Bedford Webb and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The solution of electromagnetic scattering by objects located in planar, multilayered media has long been the subject of active research. For layered-media integral equation solutions via the Method of Moments (MoM), the O($Nsp2$) matrix fill is often prohibitively expensive, even for problems of moderate size. For spatial-domain formulations, this is due to the presence of the Sommerfeld integrals required for obtaining the Green's functions in spatial form. These integrals are completely avoided through use of the complex-image method, which represents the spatial-domain Green's functions in closed form. However, this method is not without limitations, most notably a finite region of validity and an undesirable sensitivity to the choice of requisite parameters. This thesis focuses on methods for overcoming these limitations, to allow robust implementation of the method within the framework of an automated, general-purpose analysis program, applicable to the solution of scattering from arbitrarily shaped objects residing in any number of dielectric layers. Evaluations of several possible improvements to the original complex-image method are presented. A new approach is also presented for representing the angular-dependent Green's function terms that are required when both horizontal and vertical electric currents are present. The complex-image method is applied in this work to the MoM solution of the mixed-potential form of the electric field integral equation (MPIE). Several numerical results are presented for planar and nonplanar objects, including a microstrip patch antenna, wire dipole antennas penetrating dielectric half-spaces, and a microstrip air bridge. These results are compared with measurements or the results from other programs whenever possible. A brief discussion of scattering parameter extraction is also covered, with a comparison of the Prony and Generalized Pencil-of-Functions (GPOF) methods.

Book Electromagnetic Scattering by Surface of Arbitrary Shape

Download or read book Electromagnetic Scattering by Surface of Arbitrary Shape written by Donald R. Wilton and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The electric field integral equation (EFIE) is used with the moment to develop a simple and efficient numerical procedure for treating problems of scattering by arbitrarily-shaped objects. The objects are modeled for numerical purposes by planar triangular surface patch models. Because the EFIE formulation is used, the procedure is applicable to both open and closed bodies. Crucial to the formulation is development of a set of special subdomain basis functions defined on pairs of adjacent triangular patches. The basis functions yield a current representation which is free of line or point charges at subdomain boundaries. A second approach using the magnetic field integral equation (MFIE) and employing the same basis functions is also developed. Although the MFIE applies only to closed bodies, the moment matrix of the MFIE is also needed in dielectric scattering problems and in the so-called combined field integral equation used to eliminate difficulties with internal resonances present in the MFIE and EFIE formulations. The EFIE approach is applied to the scattering problems of plane wave illumination of a flat square plate, a bent square plate, a circular disk, and a sphere. Comparisons of surface current densities are made with previous computations or exact formulations and good agreement is obtained in each case. The MFIE approach is also applied to the sphere and reasonable agreement with exact calculations is obtained.
