Download or read book Radiation Heat Transfer Augmented Edition written by E. M. Sparrow and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revised to include more information on analytical models for wavelength independence, Radiation Heat Transfer, Augmented Edition has been rearranged, providing problems within each chapter rather than at the end of the book. Written by Ephraim M. Sparrow, a generalist who works on a very broad range of problems that encompasses almost all mechanical engineering topics, the book presents key ideas without being exhaustive. Sparrow oversees the Laboratory for Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Practice, whose function in to undertake both industrially bases and fundamental problems that fall within the bounds of heat transfer and fluid flow.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The solar radiant energy is in fact the only source of energy for the basic physical processes taking place in the atmosphere and on the earth's surface. When passing through the atmosphere and being reflected by the ground surface, solar radiation undergoes changes and conversions. Some of it is absorbed in the atmosphere and converted into other forms of energy, mainly into heat, and some is scattered by gases, by dust and by water vapour. Because of absorption and scattering in the atmosphere, solar radiation is changed by the time it reaches the earth's surface. That part of it which arrives as a beam of parallel rays is referred to as direct solar radiation, and that which is scattered in the atmosphere and reaches the earth's surface from all directions of the sky is called diffuse solar radiation. Both of them are reflected back into the atmosphere when they reach the earth's surface, and this third type of radiation is defined as reflected radiation. All of these radiations differ from solar radiation arriving at the upper level of the atmosphere in intensity as well as in spectral composition although they all fall within the spectral region of solar radiation. In atmospheric physics these types of radiation are known as short-wave radiation (SWR) as distinguished from long-wave or irifrared radiation (L WR) emitted by the atmosphere and the earth's surface.

Download or read book Engineering Thermodynamics of Thermal Radiation for Solar Power Utilization written by Richard Petela and published by McGraw Hill Professional. This book was released on 2010-01-25 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complete coverage of the thermodynamics of radiation matter for solar energy utilization This comprehensive guide reviews the fundamentals of the thermodynamics of radiation matter--photon gas. The book introduces the exergy of radiation through the most advanced thermodynamic analysis of the solar power processes involving radiation. Engineering Thermodynamics of Thermal Radiation: For Solar Power Utilization provides, for the first time, an exhaustive discussion on energy and exergy analysis of radiation processes. Extensive details on the exergy of radiation are developed for evaluation of the practical uses of radiation. This volume contains quantitative calculation examples for solar heating, a solar chimney power plant, photosynthesis, and photovoltaic technology. Addressed to researchers, designers, and users of different solar installations, the book also has the potential to inspire the development of new applications of radiation exergy. Coverage includes: Definitions and laws of substance and radiation Laws of thermodynamic analysis, including energy and exergy analysis Thermodynamic properties of photon gas Exergy of emission and arbitrary radiation flux Energy, entropy, and exergy radiation spectra of surfaces Thermodynamic analysis of heat from the sun, a solar chimney power plant, photosynthesis, and the photovoltaic
Download or read book Elementary Heat Transfer Analysis written by Stephen Whitaker and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-18 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elementary Heat Transfer Analysis provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of the nature of transient heat conduction. This book presents a thorough understanding of the thermal energy equation and its application to boundary layer flows and confined and unconfined turbulent flows. Organized into nine chapters, this book begins with an overview of the use of heat transfer coefficients in formulating the flux condition at phase interface. This text then explains the specification as well as application of flux boundary conditions. Other chapters consider a derivation of the transient heat conduction equation. This book discusses as well the convective energy transport based on the understanding and application of the thermal energy equation. The final chapter deals with the study of the processes of heat transfer during boiling and condensation. This book is a valuable resource for Junior or Senior engineering students who are in an introductory course in heat transfer.
