Book Radar Cross Section RCS Analysis of Jet Fighter Aircraft

Download or read book Radar Cross Section RCS Analysis of Jet Fighter Aircraft written by R. R. Raschke and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "An F-16A Math Model formulation and computer programs were developed to determine the radar cross-section of "generic jet-fighter aircraft. The analysis made use of about eight discrete scattering sources including prolate spheroids, flat circular and retangular [i.e. rectangular] plates, and cylinder edges. Using the theoretical scattering descriptions for these sources, two different RCS versus aspect angle characteristics were computed. These distinctly different RCS plots were obtained through use of (a) the "relative-phase", and (b) the "random-phase" methods of summing the individual scatterer contributions."--Conclusions.

Book Radar Cross Section RCS for Twenty Jet Fighter Aircraft production Computer Run Plots

Download or read book Radar Cross Section RCS for Twenty Jet Fighter Aircraft production Computer Run Plots written by R. R. Raschke and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The results of the computer computation and plotting of the RCS for twenty different Jet Fighter Aircraft are presented in this report. The computations were made by using the computer programs named, 10-RCSA (azimuth), and 10-RCSE (elevation), which are the "generic" programs developed for the F-16 jet aircraft. These programs were first presented in Report No. 70 and formed the basis for obtaining the results given herein."--Summary.

Book Active Radar Cross Section Reduction

Download or read book Active Radar Cross Section Reduction written by Hema Singh and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-03-02 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the active and passive radar cross section (RCS) estimation and techniques to examine the low observable aerospace platforms. It begins with the fundamentals of RCS, followed by the dielectric, magnetic and metamaterials parameters of the constituent materials and then explains various methods and the emerging trends followed in this area of study. The RCS estimation of phased array including the mutual coupling effect is also presented in detail in the book. The active RCS reduction is carefully touched upon through the performance of phased arrays, sidelobe cancellers and mitigation of multipath effect. Providing information on various adaptive algorithms like least mean square (LMS), recursive least square (RLS) and weighted least square algorithms, the authors also mention the recent developments in the area of embedded antennas, conformal load bearing antenna, metamaterials and frequency selective surface (FSS) based RCS reduction.

Book Radar Cross Section Measurements

Download or read book Radar Cross Section Measurements written by Eugene F. Knott and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The original campus of the University of Michigan was nearly a perfect square about a half-mile along a side. A street-sized walk, appropriately called the Diag, runs diagonally across this square, connecting its southeast and northwest corners. In 1904 a new engineering building was either started or finished (I do not remember which) to house classrooms. When another engineering building was built on the expanded campus across the street from it many years later, the old building came to be known as West Engine, to distinguish it from the new East Engine. Old West Engine is (or maybe by now, was) a four-story, L-shaped structure that stood at the southeast corner of the original campus. It was built with an arch in it to straddle the Diag at the apex of the L. You walked over the Engineering Arch to get from one leg of the L to the other if you were inside the building, and you walked under it when you entered the campus from the southeast corner. Affixed to the masonry wall of the arch was a plaque I often noted in passing. It bore a quote attributed to Horace Greeley (1811-1872), who I did not know at the time was the founder, editor, and publisher of the New York Tribune. It said, simply, Young man, when theory and practice differ, use your horse sense. The suggestion seems worthy of an exclamation point instead of a period, but I do not remember if it had one.

Book Radar Cross Section

Download or read book Radar Cross Section written by Eugene F. Knott and published by SciTech Publishing. This book was released on 2004-06-30 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The leading text and reference on radar cross section (RCS) theory and applications, this work presents a comparison of two radar signal strengths. One is the strength of the radar bean sweeping over a target, the other is the strength of the reflected echo senses by the receiver. This book shows how the RCS "gauge" can be predicted for theoretical objects.

Book Development of Code for a Physical Optics Radar Cross Section Prediction and Analysis Application

Download or read book Development of Code for a Physical Optics Radar Cross Section Prediction and Analysis Application written by Filippos Chatzigeorgiadis and published by . This book was released on 2004-09-01 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The significance of the Radar Cross Section (RCS) in the outcome of military engagements makes its prediction an important problem in modern Electronic Warfare. The POFACETS program, previously developed at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), uses the Physical Optics method to predict the RCS of complex targets, which are modeled with the use of triangular facets. The program has minimum computer resource requirements and provides convenient run- times. This thesis up-graded, enhanced and expanded the functionalities and capabilities of the POFACETS program. The new functionalities were implemented by upgrading the Graphical User Interface and model database, allowing the creation of models with an unlimited number of facets, providing capabilities for the automatic creation of models with standard geometric shapes, allowing the combination of existing target models, providing capabilities for sharing target models with commercial CAD programs, and creating new display formats for RCS results. The new computational capabilities include the development of a user-updateable database of materials and coating that can be applied to models in one or multiple layers, and the computation of their effects on the models' RCS. Also implemented are the computations of the ground's effect on the RCS, and the exploitation of symmetry planes in models, in order to decrease run-time for RCS prediction.

Book The Radar Game

Download or read book The Radar Game written by Rebecca Grant and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Much of [this book] is devoted to a basic discussion of how stealth works and why it is effective in reducing the number of shots taken by defensive systems. Treat this little primer as a stepping off point for discovering more of the complexities of low observability. ... [This book] should also shed light on why complex technologies like stealth cost money to field. The quest for stealth is ongoing... In fact, stealth aircraft will have to work harder than ever. The major difference from 1998 to 2010 is that defense plans no longer envision an all-stealth fleet. ... The radar game of 2020 and 2030 will feature a lot of assists and the tactics that go along with that."--P. 7.

Book Radar Cross Section RCS Analysis of Missile Configurations

Download or read book Radar Cross Section RCS Analysis of Missile Configurations written by R. R. Raschke and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report presents the results of a study of the many features of generic missile configurations which control their radar backscattering cross-section. First, the radar cross-section as a function of aspect angle is determined for a simple right circular cylinder in a plane which contains the cylinder axis. This result obtained by the "relative-phase" method (see Report No. 70), is compared with measured data obtained at 9.8 GHz which was reported in the literature. Excellent agreement was obtained between the theoretical calculations and the available experimental data."--Introd.
