Nous avons comparé la morphologie digestive et la digestibilité du brout ligneux des cerfs de Virginie introduits à l'île d'Anticosti avec celle des cerfs de la population continentale source. Plusieurs traits de la morphologie digestive se sont avérés être plus grands chez le cerf à l'île d'Anticosti que chez le cerf continental. Toutefois, peu de différences ont été détectées au niveau de la digestibilité entre les deux populations. La plasticité digestive, particulièrement au niveau du rumen-réticulum, semble impliquée dans la réponse digestive du cerf face aux conditions alimentaires sous-optimales de l'île d'Anticosti et contribue probablement à améliorer son efficacité digestive.
