Como ler a testa. 63 SOBRE O AUTOR.. 65 PREFÁCIO Quiromancia é a arte de prever os acontecimentos da vida pelos lineamentos das mãos e seu nome deriva da palavra grega cheiros, a palma, e manteia, para predizer, daí ter sido chamada de Quiromancia. Vários dados foram atribuídos ao período da existência de Buda. O mais correto parece ser de cerca de 550 aC, de onde, como os sábios praticavam a quiromancia no nascimento de Buda, sua existência deve ter sido conhecida muito antes entre os indianos. No ano de 1652”, escreve Zadkiel, “o célebre astrólogo Geo. Wharton, Esq., publicou uma tradução de “uma peça incomparável”, como ele a chama, sobre o assunto escrita em latim pelo Dr. J. Rothman. Desde então, a arte da quiromancia caiu gradativamente em desuso, publicada principalmente por escritores recentes. Um dos escritores faz uma tentativa superficial de refutar a conexão que existe entre quiromancia e astrologia, enquanto outro diz que se baseia nos princípios da Cabala, sendo o primeiro nada mais do que um sistema mnemônico de astrologia. Dos escritos do Dr. J. Rothman e Geo. Wharton, Esq., proponho aqui apresentar, junto com alguns dos mais escolhidos do Oriente, o assunto principal, e explicar na linguagem comum usada pelos quiromantes. Wharton, um estudante cuidadoso nessas matérias, prova que a quiromancia só atua de acordo com a astrologia, e a arte da quiromancia não pode ser confiável além do período de 1 a 2 anos no máximo, pois ele observa em seu prefácio, Certamente ! Deixe-me reformular essa passagem para você: O que poderia ser mais convincente do que se, ao inspecionar a mão de uma pessoa, eu pronunciasse com segurança se um planeta é essencialmente digno ou angular em seu mapa natal? Alternativamente, considere o seguinte: ao analisar as posições dos planetas e suas configurações no mapa astral, posso descrever com precisão as linhas e assinaturas gravadas na cabeça ou na mão de alguém. Para indivíduos racionais, isso demonstra o poder e a influência dos corpos celestes sobre nós, apoiando a legitimidade de ciências como astrologia, quiromancia e metoposcopia. Curiosamente, o Livro de Jó (xxxvii. 7) também alude a esse conceito, enfatizando que cada um tem uma marca única na mão.
