The third season premiered on September 22nd, 2011 but after only ten episodes was put on hiatus to become a midseason replacement show in January, later pushed back until spring. MEET THE AUTHOR Evelyn hails from a very tiny country of Estonia, so it's ironic that she chose to be a writer when English isn't her fist language! After a few years of working for newspapers and local TV news, she chose to forego any idea of a schedule and started a freelance writing and marketing business. Because it isn't the most stable of jobs, Evelyn would often supplement her income with random gigs, including being a singing telegram and an airline interpreter. She has an unnaturally close relationship with food and for a number of years worked as a chef. However, after crying too many times in the kitchen, Evelyn had to give up her professional culinary pursuits. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Though the premise of the show originally introduced Jeff Winger, a lawyer with a shady past, as the lead, after the first few episodes the storylines of other students at Greendale's Community College grew to greater prominence. Community became a mishmash of messy, yet intriguing characters that contribute to the show's originality and plethora of comedic scenarios. The show famously uses other TV shows and films as the basis for individual episodes, and frequently exploits their cliches to present a further comedic twist. Community is both intelligently written and doesn't take itself too seriously. Because it relies heavily on other pop culture trivia, it is occasionally hard to follow if the references are unfamiliar to the viewer. The upside is that through the show, you can discover other shows and films you might have otherwise missed. For the conspiracy theorists, there is a rumor that an intentional 'O.J. Simpson is guilty' reference is made during the show's opening credits. For the Community enthusiast, it is just another example of how the show is layered with innuendos and clever between-the-lines dialogue, only obvious after multiple viewings. Therein lies the brilliance of this show.

He manages to rationalize his intuition and blur his reality and fantasy. He feels that he is in control but Wilson knows that House lives life dangerously. When the bombshell about him and Cuddy drops, House soon realizes that he can only be hurt by those he is attached to emotionally. House is the brainchild of David Shore, whose previous television production experience includes producing two late 90s seasons of Law & Order, and writing for a variety of shows like NYPD Blue, Due South, The Practice, and The Outer Limits. He was asked to come up with a medical procedural show for NBC in 2003. David's idea was to make the medical procedural show emphasize the characters over the medicine since it made for more compelling television. He decided to base the protagonist of his medical show on Sherlock Holmes and became the creator, writer, and producer of House. NBC decided to pass on House and instead chose Medical Investigation as its medical procedural show of choice. Medical Investigation was a medical mystery drama filled with an eclectic staff of medical geniuses that no one really watched and only lasted one season. It has only a few characters, and a simple plot. A determined reader could finish it in a single evening. The essence of the story is that a young Frenchman (“Meursault”) living in Algeria kills a young Arab man, is tried, convicted, and sentenced to death. The homicide occurs near the middle of the book (which is only 123 pages long). Meursault is revealed to be a somewhat dissolute man, not particularly ambitious, not particularly talented or interesting; in fact he is not particularly anything except self-indulgent, callous and aloof. He is intelligent and likable in a superficial way, but his lack of appreciation for other people renders him shallow. All in all the book reads like a well-written pulp fiction novel. One might conclude that for some existentialists (as Camus is often said to be), the world is dreary and dangerous, populated only by the characters from Mad Men, Seinfeld, and a few zombies (i.e., bureaucrats). A fearsome place. But happiness is, after all, a choice. A hard choice sometimes, but a choice. Which is to say a discipline; it is a challenge one must rise to. From that perspective of “happiness,” the book is not so much a study of a person, or humanity, or even “existence,” as it is a study of a pathological condition. Meursault suffers from “alienation” in the most extreme sense. He has no particular connection to anyone or anything. He isn’t merely “detached” or “aloof” or “stoic” or even “centered” -- he is not part of society and he’s just too lazy to care. The book fails as a morality play because it gets us in, but does not provide a way out, except for death. If life is meaningless and absurd, and death is the only way out, why not get out sooner rather than later? That’s not much of a lesson. The moral of The Stranger may very well be to accept life as it is and choose to live it to the fullest, but Camus doesn’t seem to advocate that (at least not directly; if all we had to judge him by is this book, we would have to force ourselves to give him the benefit of the doubt.)
