Book Australian Blattidae of the Subfamilies Chorisoneurinae and Ectobiinae Orthoptera

Download or read book Australian Blattidae of the Subfamilies Chorisoneurinae and Ectobiinae Orthoptera written by Morgan Hebard and published by Academy of Natural Sciences. This book was released on 2007-12 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in Asiatic Blattidae coupled with gradual acquisition of considerable Malayan material led to author Hebard¿s first large contribution toward a better knowledge of the subfamilies, genera, & species to be found there. Early in his Malayan studies (in the 1920s) he found it advisable to make comparisons, particularly with possibly closely related Australian species of the Blattidae. Having a very small representation of Australian Blattidae in the Phila. collections, Hebard undertook considerable exchanges with Australian Museums. Therefore, the present study was almost completed by 1929. It covers only the first two, but much the least well understood, subfamilies & is based on 551 specimens from the collections listed in the study. 14 plates.

Book Directory of Australian Birds Passerines

Download or read book Directory of Australian Birds Passerines written by R Schodde and published by CSIRO PUBLISHING. This book was released on 1999-10-01 with total page 887 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent classifications of Australian birds have been limited to lists of "species" which are inadequate as biodiversity indicators. The Directory of Australian Birds: Passerines fills a huge gap in ornithological knowledge by separating out and listing not only 340 species of song-birds but also the 720 distinct regional forms. Covering about half the national bird fauna, the Directory provides science and the community with baseline information about what bird it is and where it lives in an Australia-wide context. Identity is taken down to the level of distinct regional population. No other compendium on Australian birds does this.

Book Climate Change Impacts on Fisheries and Aquaculture 2 Volumes

Download or read book Climate Change Impacts on Fisheries and Aquaculture 2 Volumes written by Bruce F. Phillips and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 1075 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first comprehensive review of the current and future effects of climate change on the world’s fisheries and aquaculture operations The first book of its kind, Climate Change Impacts on Fisheries and Aquaculture explores the impacts of climate change on global fisheries resources and on marine aquaculture. It also offers expert suggestions on possible adaptations to reduce those impacts. The world's climate is changing more rapidly than scientists had envisioned just a few years ago, and the potential impact of climate change on world food production is quite alarming. Nowhere is the sense of alarm more keenly felt than among those who study the warming of the world's oceans. Evidence of the dire effects of climate change on fisheries and fish farming has now mounted to such an extent that the need for a book such as this has become urgent. A landmark publication devoted exclusively to how climate change is affecting and is likely to affect commercially vital fisheries and aquaculture operations globally, Climate Change Impacts on Fisheries and Aquaculture provides scientists and fishery managers with a summary of and reference point for information on the subject which has been gathered thus far. Covers an array of critical topics and assesses reviews of climate change impacts on fisheries and aquaculture from many countries, including Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Chile, US, UK, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, India and others Features chapters on the effects of climate change on pelagic species, cod, lobsters, plankton, macroalgae, seagrasses and coral reefs Reviews the spread of diseases, economic and social impacts, marine aquaculture and adaptation in aquaculture under climate change Includes special reports on the Antarctic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, the Arctic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea Extensive references throughout the book make this volume both a comprehensive text for general study and a reference/guide to further research for fisheries scientists, fisheries managers, aquaculture personnel, climate change specialists, aquatic invertebrate and vertebrate biologists, physiologists, marine biologists, economists, environmentalist biologists and planners.

Book Cruising the Queensland Coast

Download or read book Cruising the Queensland Coast written by Greg Luck and published by Luck Consulting Pty Ltd. This book was released on 2022-01-22 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been replaced by Cruising the Queensland Coast, Second Edition. Cruising the Queensland Coast is a cruising guide for yachts cruising the Queensland coast. Each of the 13 coasts, from the Gold Coast to the Cooktown Coast, is covered in detail, including marinas, anchorages, passages, wind and wave averages, public pontoons and quick reference information and links for vital weather, search and rescue, notices to mariners and other vital information. It features hundreds of chartlets and high-resolution aerial photos of anchorages to take the guesswork out of anchoring. Each anchorage has information on depth, bottom, mobile reception, marine park zone and recommended wind directions and strengths. The book is also integrated with Navionics and C-Map. Anchorages and passages can be imported into Navionics and C-Map simply by clicking on the Navionics link ⎈ and GPX link ⎈ icons throughout the book. The book also provides an extensive reference of useful information for the Queensland Coast such as skills and experience, recommended apps, charts and books, equipping the yacht for cruising, cruising logistics, climate and weather systems, marine hazards and the three major marine parks and their rules. This book will help get the first-time cruiser of the Queensland coast started. For those familiar with the coast, the wealth of information, data and links all pulled together into one place and organised in a systematic way will prove invaluable. For both, the more than one thousand external reference links make it easier to cruise the coast safely and simplify many of the everyday tasks of living on a cruising yacht such as finding and entering a marina and restocking once there.
