Book Over 225 Years of Keys Keyes

Download or read book Over 225 Years of Keys Keyes written by Bunyon Keys and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over 225 years of Keys/Keyes in Eastern North Carolina by Bunyon Keys, a native son of Blounts Creek offers the readers an insight of the Keys Families that originated in Blounts Creek, Beaufort County and spread not only to Eastern North Carolina, but throughout many parts of the United States and several other areas of the world. Listed in many documents, I have seen the name spelled as Keys, Kee, Key, Keyes, Kees, Keais, Keen and many other variations. Taken from the Surname Data Base Last Name Origin from the internet; The surname Keys is English and was first recorded as belonging to the family of Roger Keys. The recorded information was dated 1275. For simplicity, I have in most cases used the spelling Keys or Keyes. The Keys (families) were started by Milley Keys, except for one family in this area and that family is listed in Chapter 7 of this document. There are some instances where the two families inter-married. The 2nd family was the decedents of William Keys from Virginia perhaps a cousin of Milley. (Evidence points to Milleys ancestors being from England and dating back to the mid 1650s.)

Book Magyar Stars Stripes

Download or read book Magyar Stars Stripes written by Michael Lipiner and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2005-05-20 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magyar, Stars & Stripes strikingly recounts a Hungarian Jewish family's history of love, affection, persecution, and injustice. It tells about their close kinship and heart-wrenching experiences in labor and concentration camps. The book chronicles Alexander Taub's life-from a playful childhood to a young adulthood shattered within a labor camp in Schachendorf, Austria. Every day is a new battle to survive amid countless bodies. He makes a daring escape and finds compassion in people who offer food and clothing. Rebuilding the ashes of his family, Taub takes us on an extraordinary journey to Manhattan, where he and surviving family members eventually become successful entrepreneurs. He uses street smarts and intuition to make his fortune but still remains an enigmatic figure building a brick wall to contend with the great losses in his life. While giving historical accounts and sufficient background information of these different periods, the author often transcribes verbatim his grandfather's broken English to illustrate the man's unique style and humorous outlook on life. This incredibly witty and courageous story of perseverance will greatly appeal to the reader's emotions.

Book excerpt: 'An uplifting record of progress and strength... You'll lay the book down feeling not only informed, but galvanised to take action yourself.' Independent 'An incredible book . . . with the potential to change women's lives.' Sandi Toksvig Why is it taking so long? Despite huge progress since the suffragette campaigns and wave after wave of feminism, women are still fighting for equality. Why will we have to wait until 2069 for the gender pay gap to disappear in the UK? Why, in 2015, did 11% of women lose their jobs due to pregnancy discrimination? Why has 1 in 3 women in the world experienced physical or sexual violence? 'Engaging...part feminist history, part progress scoresheet and part family memoir.' Daily Telegraph In Deeds Not Words suffragette descendant and activist Helen Pankhurst charts the changes in the lives of women over the last 100 years. She celebrates landmark successes and little-known victories, looking at politics, money, identity, violence, culture and social norms and turning to the voices of both pioneers and ordinary women for their perspective. 'An exciting and engaging account of an essential part of British history.' Mary Evans, Emeritus Leverhulme Professor, London School of Economics Combining historical insight with inspiring argument, Deeds not Words reveals how far women have come, how far we still have to go, and how we might get there. It is essential reading for women - and men - on the most important issue of our time. 'Deeds Not Words is so timely. A valuable guide and reference.' Annie Lennox OBE
