The arrival of Prince Arthur Golding, born a mutant, fulfills the Evil Rain’s prophecy. The realm wants the prince dead because they believe him cursed, so the Queen fakes her son’s death and sends him to grow up with another family in secret. The king’s betrayal leads to his exile and civil war with several unscrupulous leaders seeking Kalina’s throne. Now fully grown, Prince Arthur joins the fight. When the transfiguration takes place, he brings about twelve plagues, monsters, and dragons. He even battles Vikings and divine Nephilim in his conquest for power. A final battle ensues in a place called Nowhere City, where the prince and his allies defend the Twelve Kingdoms from supernatural creatures known as the Dispatched Angels and the four Apocalyptic Horsemen. Prince Arthur was born different and with a specific purpose. He now seeks to prove himself and rewrite his own destiny.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of human evil is never far beneath the surface of mystery fiction. This was particularly true in the wake of the horrific events of World War II. One figure who set out to investigate this crisis was Ellery Queen. This book provides a much-needed intervention in the study of detective fiction by giving sustained attention to Ellery Queen as well as suggesting possible directions for broader discussions of the genre. After the war, Queen mounted an inquiry into the state of masculinity and of the world in the wake of unimaginable horrors represented by the death camps and the atomic bomb. During his investigation, Ellery rummaged through the ruins of culture, invoking and evoking figures such as Walt Whitman, Henry David Thoreau, and (naturally) Edgar Allan Poe. Ultimately, this quest brought him up against an unexpected foe: God himself. This book examines the ways Queen pushes against the boundaries of what was (and, in some circles, still is) considered possible or desirable in the genre.
Download or read book The European Other in Medieval Arabic Literature and Culture written by N. Hermes and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-04-09 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contrary to the monolithic impression left by postcolonial theories of Orientalism, the book makes the case that Orientals did not exist solely to be gazed at. Hermes shows that there was no shortage of medieval Muslims who cast curious eyes towards the European Other and that more than a handful of them were interested in Europe.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dark sapphic standalone romance, set in the shared world of the Peculiar Tastes series. Janneth Carter has given up on magic these days. She’s done being curious, insatiable, dreamy; she just wants to finish her graduate degree and spend the rest of her life as a sensible archeologist. So the last thing she expects when she goes to her dig site on Halloween night is three mysterious strangers standing outside an ancient Scottish grave. Okay, well the actual last thing she expects is for those strangers to kidnap her and drag her into fairyland. Once in the vivid, carnal world of Faerie, Janneth is at the mercy of the coldly lovely and incredibly cruel Stag Queen. Desperate to get home to her own world, she offers the Queen a bargain: she’ll be a willing captive, the queen’s pet, so long as the Queen promises to keep her safe until Janneth leaves Faerie. But fae promises are complicated things, and nothing in Faerie, even pleasure—even love—comes without a price...
