Book Functional Equations Results and Advances

Download or read book Functional Equations Results and Advances written by Zoltan Daroczy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of functional equations has been developed in a rapid and productive way in the second half of the Twentieth Century. First of all, this is due to the fact that the mathematical applications raised the investigations of newer and newer types of functional equations. At the same time, the self development of this theory was also very fruitful. This can be followed in many monographs that treat and discuss the various methods and approaches. These developments were also essentially influenced by a number jour nals, for instance, by the Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen (founded in 1953) and by the Aequationes Mathematicae (founded in 1968), be cause these journals published papers from the field of functional equa tions readily and frequently. The latter journal also publishes the yearly report of the International Symposia on Functional Equations and a comprehensive bibliography of the most recent papers. At the same time, there are periodically and traditionally organized conferences in Poland and in Hungary devoted to functional equations and inequali ties. In 2000, the 38th International Symposium on Functional Equations was organized by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Debrecen in Noszvaj, Hungary. The report about this meeting can be found in Aequationes Math. 61 (2001), 281-320.

Book Recent Progress in Inequalities

Download or read book Recent Progress in Inequalities written by G.V. Milovanovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is dedicated to the late Professor Dragoslav S. Mitrinovic(1908-1995), one of the most accomplished masters in the domain of inequalities. Inequalities are to be found everywhere and play an important and significant role in almost all subjects of mathematics as well as in other areas of sciences. Professor Mitrinovic used to say: `There are no equalities, even in human life inequalities are always encountered.' This volume provides an extensive survey of the most current topics in almost all subjects in the field of inequalities, written by 85 outstanding scientists from twenty countries. Some of the papers were presented at the International Memorial Conference dedicated to Professor D.S. Mitrinovic, which was held at the University of Nis, June 20-22, 1996. Audience: This book will be of great interest to researchers in real, complex and functional analysis, special functions, approximation theory, numerical analysis and computation, and other fields, as well as to graduate students requiring the most up-to-date results.

Book Iterative Functional Equations

Download or read book Iterative Functional Equations written by Marek Kuczma and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1990-07-27 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A cohesive and comprehensive account of the modern theory of iterative functional equations. Many of the results included have appeared before only in research literature, making this an essential volume for all those working in functional equations and in such areas as dynamical systems and chaos, to which the theory is closely related. The authors introduce the reader to the theory and then explore the most recent developments and general results. Fundamental notions such as the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the equations are stressed throughout, as are applications of the theory to such areas as branching processes, differential equations, ergodic theory, functional analysis and geometry. Other topics covered include systems of linear and nonlinear equations of finite and infinite ORD various function classes, conjugate and commutable functions, linearization, iterative roots of functions, and special functional equations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How did Pierre Fatou and Gaston Julia create what we now call Complex Dynamics, in the context of the early twentieth century and especially of the First World War? The book is based partly on new, unpublished sources. Who were Pierre Fatou, Gaston Julia, Paul Montel? New biographical information is given on the little known mathematician that was Pierre Fatou. How did the WW1 injury of Julia influence mathematical life in France? From the reviews of the French version: "Audin’s book is ... filled with marvelous biographical information and analysis, dealing not just with the men mentioned in the book’s title but a large number of other players, too ... [It] addresses itself to scholars for whom the history of mathematics has a particular resonance and especially to mathematicians active, or even with merely an interest, in complex dynamics. ... presents it all to the reader in a very appealing form." (Michael Berg, The Mathematical Association of America, October 2009)

Book Early Days in Complex Dynamics

Download or read book Early Days in Complex Dynamics written by Daniel S. Alexander and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of complex dynamics, whose roots lie in 19th-century studies of the iteration of complex function conducted by Koenigs, Schoder, and others, flourished remarkably during the first half of the 20th century, when many of the central ideas and techniques of the subject developed. This book paints a robust picture of the field of complex dynamics between 1906 and 1942 through detailed discussions of the work of Fatou, Julia, Siegel, and several others.

Book Analytic Endomorphisms of the Riemann Sphere

Download or read book Analytic Endomorphisms of the Riemann Sphere written by Mariusz Urbański and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-09-05 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex dynamics is one of the most fascinating subjects of study and research in mathematics. This third volume in the series entitled Non-Invertible Dynamical Systems not only examines topological and analytical properties of the iteration of rational functions on the Riemann sphere (in particular, the Fatou and Julia sets) but also focuses on thermodynamic, ergodic and fractal properties of these functions (notably, equilibrium states, Bowen's formula and Sullivan’s conformal measures). This volume builds on the first two volumes in the series while simultaneously developing some methods and techniques specific to rational functions.

Maple scripts are provided to allow readers to work directly with the code from which the graphics in the book were taken.

Book A History of Complex Dynamics

Download or read book A History of Complex Dynamics written by Daniel S. Alexander and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contemporary study of complex dynamics, which has flourished so much in recent years, is based largely upon work by G. Julia (1918) and P. Fatou (1919/20). The goal of this book is to analyze this work from an historical perspective and show in detail, how it grew out of a corpus regarding the iteration of complex analytic functions. This began with investigations by E. Schröder (1870/71) which he made, when he studied Newton's method. In the 1880's, Gabriel Koenigs fashioned this study into a rigorous body of work and, thereby, influenced a lot the subsequent development. But only, when Fatou and Julia applied set theory as well as Paul Montel's theory of normal families, it was possible to develop a global approach to the iteration of rational maps. This book shows, how this intriguing piece of modern mathematics became reality.
