Book Quantum Physics and Linguistics

Download or read book Quantum Physics and Linguistics written by Chris Heunen and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-02-21 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New scientific paradigms typically consist of an expansion of the conceptual language with which we describe the world. Over the past decade, theoretical physics and quantum information theory have turned to category theory to model and reason about quantum protocols. This new use of categorical and algebraic tools allows a more conceptual and insightful expression of elementary events such as measurements, teleportation and entanglement operations, that were obscured in previous formalisms. Recent work in natural language semantics has begun to use these categorical methods to relate grammatical analysis and semantic representations in a unified framework for analysing language meaning, and learning meaning from a corpus. A growing body of literature on the use of categorical methods in quantum information theory and computational linguistics shows both the need and opportunity for new research on the relation between these categorical methods and the abstract notion of information flow. This book supplies an overview of how categorical methods are used to model information flow in both physics and linguistics. It serves as an introduction to this interdisciplinary research, and provides a basis for future research and collaboration between the different communities interested in applying category theoretic methods to their domain's open problems.

Book excerpt: NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming. The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create. Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay affects our body and behavior (programming). NLP is a pragmatic school of thought - an 'epistemology' - that addresses the many levels involved in being human. NLP is a multi-dimensional process that involves the development of behavioral competence and flexibility, but also involves strategic thinking and an understanding of the mental and cognitive processes behind behavior. NLP provides tools and skills for the development of ...

Book Quantum Machine Learning

Download or read book Quantum Machine Learning written by Claudio Conti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2024-01-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a new way of thinking about quantum mechanics and machine learning by merging the two. Quantum mechanics and machine learning may seem theoretically disparate, but their link becomes clear through the density matrix operator which can be readily approximated by neural network models, permitting a formulation of quantum physics in which physical observables can be computed via neural networks. As well as demonstrating the natural affinity of quantum physics and machine learning, this viewpoint opens rich possibilities in terms of computation, efficient hardware, and scalability. One can also obtain trainable models to optimize applications and fine-tune theories, such as approximation of the ground state in many body systems, and boosting quantum circuits’ performance. The book begins with the introduction of programming tools and basic concepts of machine learning, with necessary background material from quantum mechanics and quantum information also provided. This enables the basic building blocks, neural network models for vacuum states, to be introduced. The highlights that follow include: non-classical state representations, with squeezers and beam splitters used to implement the primary layers for quantum computing; boson sampling with neural network models; an overview of available quantum computing platforms, their models, and their programming; and neural network models as a variational ansatz for many-body Hamiltonian ground states with applications to Ising machines and solitons. The book emphasizes coding, with many open source examples in Python and TensorFlow, while MATLAB and Mathematica routines clarify and validate proofs. This book is essential reading for graduate students and researchers who want to develop both the requisite physics and coding knowledge to understand the rich interplay of quantum mechanics and machine learning.

Book Data Centric Artificial Intelligence for Multidisciplinary Applications

Download or read book Data Centric Artificial Intelligence for Multidisciplinary Applications written by Parikshit N Mahalle and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-06-06 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the need for a data‐centric AI approach and its application in the multidisciplinary domain, compared to a model‐centric approach. It examines the methodologies for data‐centric approaches, the use of data‐centric approaches in different domains, the need for edge AI and how it differs from cloud‐based AI. It discusses the new category of AI technology, "data‐centric AI" (DCAI), which focuses on comprehending, utilizing, and reaching conclusions from data. By adding machine learning and big data analytics tools, data‐centric AI modifies this by enabling it to learn from data rather than depending on algorithms. It can therefore make wiser choices and deliver more precise outcomes. Additionally, it has the potential to be significantly more scalable than conventional AI methods. • Includes a collection of case studies with experimentation results to adhere to the practical approaches • Examines challenges in dataset generation, synthetic datasets, analysis, and prediction algorithms in stochastic ways • Discusses methodologies to achieve accurate results by improving the quality of data • Comprises cases in healthcare and agriculture with implementation and impact of quality data in building AI applications
