Download or read book Pi Electron Magnetism written by D. Arcon and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-08-28 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrating Volume 100: Thirty years ago Springer-Verlag together with a distinguished Board of Editors started the series Structure and Bonding. Initially the series was set up to publish reviews from different fields of modern inorganic chemistry, chemical physics and biochemistry, where the general subject of chemical bonding involves a metal and a small number of associated atoms. Three years ago the aims of the series was refined to span the entire periodic table and address structure and bonding issues wherever they may be relevant. Not only the traditional areas of chemical bonding will be dealt with but also nanostructres, molecular electronics, supramolecular structure, surfaces and clusters. With these aims in mind it is noteworthy that Volume 100 effectively reinforces and illustrates these ideals and is titled Pi-Electron Magnetism from Molecules to Magnetic Materials.

Download or read book Hyper structured Molecules I written by Hiroyuki Sasabe and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hyper-structured molecules are topologically well-defined molecules in two or three dimensions and are expected to show novel quantum effects in the molecules themselves or in molecular sequences. This book, covering the supramolecular chemistry and characterization of hyper-structured molecules, provides an invaluable resource on the design and synthesis of topologically controlled molecules such as dendritic polymers, and on ways to handle them using techniques such as photon scanning tunneling microscopy. The book presents a comprehensive discussion of the real application of hyper-structured molecules to organic quantum devices for molecular electronics, photonics and spinics and should be of interest to all researchers working in supramolecular chemistry or molecular electronics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Quantum Chemical Topology Beyond QTAIM provides a complete overview of the field, starting with traditional methods and then covering key steps to the latest state-of-the-art extensions of QTAIM. The book supports researchers by compiling and reviewing key methods, comparing different algorithms, and providing computational results to show the efficacy of the approaches. Beginning with an introduction to quantum chemistry, QTAIM and key extensions, the book goes on to discuss interacting quantum atoms and related energy properties, explores partitioning methods, and compares algorithms for QTAIM. Partitioning schemes are them compared in more detail before applications are explored and future developments discussed. Drawing together the knowledge of key authorities in the area, this book provides a comprehensive, pedogeological guide to this insightful theory for all those interested in modelling, exploring and understanding molecular properties. - Provides a contemporary review of the extensions and application of QTAIM methods - Compiles all extensions of QTAIM in one place for easy reference - Includes a chapter with an Introduction to Quantum Chemistry - Presents complex information at a level accessible to those engaged in theoretical/computational chemistry

Download or read book Theoretical and Computational Aspects of Magnetic Organic Molecules written by Sambhu N. Datta and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2014 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organic materials with extraordinary magnetic properties promise a wide range of light, flexible, and inexpensive alternatives to familiar metal-based magnets. Individual organic molecules with high magnetic moments will be the foundation for design and fabrication of these materials. This book provides a systematic understanding of the structure and properties of organic magnetic molecules. After a summary of the phenomenon of magnetism at the molecular level, it presents a survey of the challenges to theoretical description and evaluation of the magnetic character of open-shell molecules, and an overview of recently developed methods and their successes and shortfalls. Several fields of application, including very strong organic molecular magnets and photo-magnetic switches, are surveyed. Finally, discussions on metal-based materials and simultaneously semiconducting and ferromagnetic extended systems and solids point the way toward future advances. The reader will find a comprehensive discourse on current understanding of magnetic molecules, a thorough survey of computational methods of characterizing known and imagined molecules, simple rules for design of larger magnetic systems, and a guide to opportunities for progress toward organic magnets.

Download or read book Physical Chemistry written by S. Nagakura and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical Chemistry covers the session lectures presented at the 26th International Congress of Pure and Applied Chemistry, held in Tokyo, Japan on 4-10 September 1977. The book focuses on the processes, reactions, properties, and transformations of molecules, including energy transfer and spectroscopy. The selection first discusses the applications of lasers in chemical spectroscopy and dynamics; microwave spectral studies of interstellar molecules; and molecular reaction dynamics by the crossed molecular beam technique. The text also reviews the chemical applications of ionizing excited atom-molecule collisions, including penning ionization by metastables and non-metastables, ionization in collisions with high-N-Rydberg atoms, and true associative ionization. The manuscript examines the picosecond time-resolved measurements of vibrational energy transfer and relaxation phenomena in large polyatomic molecules and microwave spectroscopy of short-lived molecules. The text also ponders on the electronic structures of aromatic hydrocarbons with high spin multiplicities in the electronic ground state and non-stoichiometry and structural disorder in inorganic compounds. The selection is a dependable reference for chemists and readers interested in pure and applied chemistry.
Download or read book The Quantum Hall Effect written by Richard E. Prange and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a foreword by Klaus von Klitzing, the first chapters of this book discuss the prehistory and the theoretical basis as well as the implications of the discovery of the Quantum Hall effect on superconductivity, superfluidity, and metrology, including experimentation. The second half of this volume is concerned with the theory of and experiments on the many body problem posed by fractional effect. Specific unsolved problems are mentioned throughout the book and a summary is made in the final chapter. The quantum Hall effect was discovered on about the hundredth anniversary of Hall's original work, and the finding was announced in 1980 by von Klitzing, Dorda and Pepper. Klaus von KIitzing was awarded the 1985 Nobel prize in physics for this discovery.
