Book Quantum Field Theory Quantum Physics and Micro Macro Duality

Download or read book Quantum Field Theory Quantum Physics and Micro Macro Duality written by Izumi Ojima and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2020-11-30 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the fundamental concept 'adjunctions' in category theory, the Micro and Macro in nature can be connected in a coherent way, which constitutes quite an effective theoretical and mathematical machinery that has not been commonly recognized. On the basis of this concept, many important problems in physics and mathematics can be viewed from quite different and fresh angles, which facilitate deep understanding and the satisfactory solution of those problems.

  • Author : Thanu Padmanabhan
  • Publisher : World Scientific
  • Release : 2009
  • ISBN : 9812835474
  • Pages : 238 pages

Download or read book Quantum Themes written by Thanu Padmanabhan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum theory is one of the more abstract branches of theoretical physics, yet it makes clear and concrete predictions which are repeatedly verified experimentally. More recently, there has been some confluence between the concepts of microphysics and those of macrophysics. Currently fashionable ideas in cosmology are also deeply linked to concepts from quantum theory, thus piquing greater interest in this subject. This timely book takes stock of what quantum theory has achieved and where it is leading to at present, in a manner understandable to an educated layman. The book describes concepts in a strictly scientific manner without trying to make them sound overly philosophical or OC hypingOCO them up. At the same time, careful explanation of the concepts and details (including the technical terminology) are given in a nonmathematical language for the general reader. In particular, emphasis is given to the specific aspects of quantum theory that interface with gravity and cosmology, so as to keep the book reasonably up to date and focused on a key underlying theme.

Book From Micro to Macro Quantum Systems

Download or read book From Micro to Macro Quantum Systems written by K. Kong Wan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional quantum theory has a very rigid structure, making it difficult to accommodate new properties emerging from novel systems. This book presents a flexible and unified theory for physical systems, from micro and macro quantum to classical. This is achieved by incorporating superselection rules and maximal symmetric operators into the theory. The resulting theory is applicable to classical, microscopic quantum and non-orthodox mixed quantum systems of which macroscopic quantum systems are examples. A unified formalism also greatly facilitates the discussion of interactions between these systems. A scheme of quantization by parts is introduced, based on the mathematics of selfadjoint and maximal symmetric extensions of symmetric operators, to describe point interactions. The results are applied to treat superconducting quantum circuits in various configurations. This book also discusses various topics of interest such as the asymptotic treatment of quantum state preparation and quantum measurement, local observables and local values, Schr”dinger's cat states in superconducting systems, and a path space formulation of quantum mechanics. This self-contained book is complete with a review of relevant geometric and operator theories, for example, vector fields and operators, symmetric operators and their maximal symmetric extensions, direct integrals of Hilbert spaces and operators.

  • Author : Lowell S. Brown
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 1992
  • ISBN : 9780521469463
  • Pages : 564 pages

Download or read book Quantum Field Theory written by Lowell S. Brown and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops quantum field theory starting from its foundation in quantum mechanics. Quantum field theory is the basic theory of elementary particle physics. In recent years, many techniques have been developed which extend and clarify this theory. This book incorporates these modern methods, giving a thoroughly modern pedagogic account which starts from first principles. The path integral formulation is introduced right at the beginning. The method of dimensional continuation is employed to regulate and renormalize the theory. This facilitates the introduction of the concepts of the renormalization group at an early stage. The notion of spontaneous symmetry breakdown is also introduced early on by the example of superfluid helium. Topics in quantum electrodynamics are described which have an analog in quantum chromodynamics. Some novel techniques are employed, such as the use of dimensional continuation to compute the Lamb shift. Many problems are included.
