Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER A Most Anticipated Book of 2022 by Cosmopolitan, Goodreads, PopSugar, and more! From the author of the Goodreads Choice Award winner The Spanish Love Deception, the eagerly anticipated follow-up featuring Rosie Graham and Lucas Martín, who are forced to share a New York apartment. Rosie Graham has a problem. A few, actually. She just quit her well paid job to focus on her secret career as a romance writer. She hasn’t told her family and now has terrible writer’s block. Then, the ceiling of her New York apartment literally crumbles on her. Luckily she has her best friend Lina’s spare key while she’s out of town. But Rosie doesn’t know that Lina has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking—for lack of a better word—on Instagram for the last few months. Lucas seems intent on coming to her rescue like a Spanish knight in shining armor. Only this one strolls around the place in a towel, has a distracting grin, and an irresistible accent. Oh, and he cooks. Lucas offers to let Rosie stay with him, at least until she can find some affordable temporary housing. And then he proposes an outrageous experiment to bring back her literary muse and meet her deadline: He’ll take her on a series of experimental dates meant to jump-start her romantic inspiration. Rosie has nothing to lose. Her silly, online crush is totally under control—but Lucas’s time in New York has an expiration date, and six weeks may not be enough, for either her or her deadline.

Book Travel Writing for Tourism and City Branding

Download or read book Travel Writing for Tourism and City Branding written by Charlie Mansfield and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-30 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Travel Writing for Tourism and City Branding is an insightful, expert-led book which provides tourism students with a practice-based approach to producing researched literary travel writing on an urban destination, using the writing process as a research tool in itself. The book is scientifically supported with full academic references for researchers. On a global basis, city councils and destination managers are seeking new ways to commission and sponsor professional content authors as part of place-branding projects for tourism development. Given the increasing prevalence of such content within the tourism industry, this book provides a cohesive overview of literary travel writing, presenting it as an enquiry process that can be applied by writer-researchers to spaces that have value to them. Travel writing is presented as a methodological practice that researchers can learn and apply to their own projects, both in academic settings and in commercial city branding. Examples of literary travel writing are carefully examined throughout and their affects refracted through further work. Enriched with a wealth of case studies, chapters are presented in such a way that readers can take the work as a model for their own projects. This informative and practical volume will be of great interest to students of tourism marketing, destination marketing, place branding and travel writing, as well as current creators of commercial tourism marketing content.

Book excerpt: SOME DAY The Literature of Waiting A Creative Writing Course With Time on Its Hands Now wait. Now. Wait. You do it all the time. Time and time again. You're doing it right now: waiting on our every word. So here goes: before there was this book SOME DAY on writing creatively about a world of waiting, there was special topics Hunter College English course on "The Literature of Waiting" that featured a selection of novels, plays, and short stories by some rather famous world authors. But wait: even before that time-sensitive college course there were, well, the elevators-particularly the ones in the North Building of Hunter College of the City University of New York. Elevators that you always had to wait distressingly long for when they were apparently working and eternally long for when they were "out of service." There was even that infamous elevator repair sign. Picture it: a photoshopped female student with her right hand flat out in the stop-and-wait position, her compressed lips silently conveying that any wait on your part for an elevator to come would be entirely futile. And did we mention that the repair sign would inevitably remain up even after that elevator had been fixed? Now that made a certain sense since it was only a matter of time before the sign was, like a broken clock, accurate again. Book The Rainy Day Book

Download or read book The Rainy Day Book written by Jane Kolar and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-07-17 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For some few, writing comes easily without practice or training, but for the great majority it develops only with training and much application. The most difficult part seems, for most students, to be the beginning: what to write about and how to get into that first sentence. This book is designed to set a scene, giving the student a beginning, a focus point for them to launch into their own imagination and expand upon that point. It is an invaluable tool for teachers, who have heavy workloads already, to stimulate students' imagination and thus bring them to be more competent writers. Writing well is the key to success in the academic world, for few who cannot put their thoughts on paper in an orderly and logical manner will succeed in higher education. All aspects of writing are important --- sentence structure, spelling, and organization of thoughts are valuable tools --- but the most important tools are a stimulated imagination and having had acknowledgement of the creative effort. The Rainy Day Book began as The Very Boring Day Book, which I created for my own children to work in when they could think of nothing to do. Since it rained often on the Gulf Coast, where we lived at the time, the title evolved into the one you see today. I used a loose-leaf binder filled with notebook paper, each headed with a few sentences, that they could remove, a page at a time, to write the rest of the story. It worked very well: my children, even one who is learning disabled, became quite articulate and able to access their creativity. For those who find difficulty in tying the story up and coming to a logical point of conclusion, there is another book, Finishing What You Begin. The story line in between is dealt with in All About the Middles

It's an instant classic and if I read a better novel this year I will be amazed' Simon Toyne, author of Sunday Times bestseller Solomon Creed 'An electrifying thriller, a shattering family tragedy, and a pitch-black coming of age story, all rolled into one. Don't try to tell me this is a debut novel; I won't hear anything but Jordan Harper's a master' Benjamin Whitmer, author of Cry Father 'Confident, brutal, but always human, it's a violent parable of family and sacrifice. The best debut novel that I've read this year' Johnny Shaw, Anthony Award-winning author of Big Maria 'A dark, original take on the chase novel and a strangely touching portrait of a father-daughter relationship framed in barbed wire' Booklist (starred review) 'Visceral' Publishers Weekly (starred review) 'The characters' loyalty, love, and struggle for redemption grip the reader and don't let go' Kirkus **A LESSON IN VIOLENCE is published in the US as SHE RIDES SHOTGUN**
