Book Development of Interpretation Models for PFN Uranium Log Analysis

Download or read book Development of Interpretation Models for PFN Uranium Log Analysis written by Ralston W. Barnard and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents the models for interpretation of borehole logs for the PFN (Prompt Fission Neutron) uranium logging system. Two models have been developed, the counts-ratio model and the counts/dieaway model. Both are empirically-developed, but can be related to the theoretical bases for PFN analysis. The models try to correct for the effects of external factors (such as probe or formation parameters) in the calculation of uranium grade. The theoretical bases and calculational techniques for estimating uranium concentration from raw PFN data and other parameters are discussed. Examples and discussions of borehole logs are included.

Book excerpt: Applications of Nuclear and Radioisotope Technology: For Peace and Sustainable Development presents the latest technology and research on nuclear energy with a practical focus on a variety of applications. Author Dr. Khalid Al-Nabhani provides a thorough and well-rounded view of the status of nuclear power generation in order to promote its benefits towards a sustainable, clean and secure future. This book offers innovative theoretical, analytical, methodological and technological approaches, encourages a positive societal and political uptake. This book enhances awareness of peaceful nuclear applications across a broad spectrum of industries, including power generation, agriculture, and medicine. It presents successful examples and lessons learned across many countries that are working towards their sustainability goals in cooperation with the IAEA and AAEA, to benefit researchers, professionals and decision-makers implementing and developing their own nuclear strategies for the future. - Presents theoretical and scientific knowledge which is supported with real examples and successful experiences - Provides prevailing perceptions of nuclear safety and security concerns by presenting the most advanced safety and security systems - Applies technologies to a variety of applications to guide the reader to make informed decisions to help meet sustainability goals

Book Nuclear Radioactive Materials in the Oil and Gas Industry

Download or read book Nuclear Radioactive Materials in the Oil and Gas Industry written by Khalid Alnabhani and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2019-08-29 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Radioactive Materials in the Oil and Gas Industry comprehensively discusses the TENORMs generated from various types of oil and gas processes and their associated adverse human health effects, effective TENORM waste management strategies, and the quantitative risk analysis. The book thoroughly investigates current knowledge, addressing the three main gaps identified in available studies: 1) Exposure to radioactivity, 2) High volume waste as a source of radiation exposure, and 3) A lack of uniform, international safety regulations. This book offers researchers, scientists and graduate and undergraduate students a comprehensive and well-researched reference that covers fundamental concepts, problem identification and solutions development. It is an ideal, comprehensive guideline for professionals involved in the oil and gas and nuclear industries who are concerned about radiological issues. - Demystifies NORM and TENORM concepts and redefines TENORM from technical and nuclear scientific perspectives - Addresses statistically representative data of quantitative risk assessment and dynamic accident modeling - Stresses the need for legislation and consistency of safety standards relating to radiological risks posed by TENORM on health and the environment
