Book Public Speaking for Success

Download or read book Public Speaking for Success written by Dale Carnegie and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2006-05-04 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dale Carnegie, author of the legendary How to Win Friends and Influence People, began his career as the premier "life coach" of the twentieth century by teaching the art of public speaking. Public speaking, as Carnegie saw it, is a vital skill that can be attained through basic and repeated steps. His classic volume on the subject appeared in 1926 and was revised twice-in shortened versions-in 1956 and 1962. This 2006 revision-edited by a longtime consultant to Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc., and the editor in charge of updating How to Win Friends and Influence People-is the definitive one for our era. While up-to-date in its language and points of reference, Public Speaking for Success preserves the full range of ideas and methods that appeared in the original: including Carnegie's complete speech and diction exercises, which follow each chapter, as the author originally designated them. This edition restores Carnegie's original appendix of the three complete self-help classics: Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, and A Message to Garcia by Elbert Hubbard. Carnegie included these essays in his original edition because, although they do not directly relate to public speaking, he felt they would be of great value to the readers. Here is the definitive update of the best-loved public-speaking book of all time.

Book Success Through Public Speaking

Download or read book Success Through Public Speaking written by Joseph T. Karcher and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2011-03-10 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It took about one year to write this book, about five years to get started on it and over thirty years to accumulate the information and experience which I have endeavored to outline herein. As I look back over 30 years of this diversified experience I sometimes like to pause and attempt to analyze the several turning points in my own life which took me successively through careers in the fields of law, public office, industry and writing. I have no doubt about it, that it was the preparation and training in public speaking which enabled me, when the time was propitious; ripe for action; when the psychological moment had arrived, to stand up, to speak up and to make the most of the opportunity presented. I could recount numerous instances in my own career and in those of my friends and acquaintances where a single talk started a whole chain of events, "like the ripples made by a pebble thrown into a lake, extend even to the farthest shores." It is for this reason that I feel so strongly about the potentialities of the power of speech. If I were asked to list the essential for success in almost any line of human endeavor, the ability to speak would be high on any such list. Of course this ability alone will not bring lasting success. Education, training and experience in your particular field are the only true foundations for lasting success. My point is simply this: that a man may have all these and be exceptionally competent, and yet not be successful in the generally accepted sense of that word. In many such instances you will find that his primary weakness is his lack of ability to express himself clearly, cogently, convincingly. If he achieves this additional capacity and adds it to his basic competence, in my opinion he cannot help but succeed! In other words, assuming always that he knows what he's talking about, all he has to do is stand up, speak up, and succeed!

Book Public Speaking the Freeman Way

This book was released on 2012-01 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I heard that Denzel Washington traveled to Houston, Texas to meet with Dr. Thomas F. Freeman (Doc), the head coach of the Texas Southern University (TSU) Debate Team, I knew the two-time academy award winner searched for and selected the best debate coach in the country. Why did Denzel Washington take time out of his busy schedule to come all the way to Houston, Texas to visit Dr. Freeman in his office on the campus of Texas Southern University? In preparation for the movie The Great Debaters, Denzel Washington and the cast sought the advice and consultation of Dr. Freeman and members of the TSU Debate Team to give them real insight into how ordinary students are transformed into extraordinary communicators. Public Speaking the Freeman Way was conceived out of my desire to honor Dr. Freeman by sharing with the world the Five Universal Laws of public speaking I learned from him as his student. Law I. Master Your Mental Self Principle: Know Thy Powerful Self Law II. Disciplined Preparation Principle: Fail to plan, Plan to fail Law III. Speak Before You Speak Principle: Your Body Carries a "Message of Your Choice" Law IV. Speak When You Speak Principle: Get the Attention of Your Audience and Keep It! Book The Law of Success

Download or read book The Law of Success written by Napoleon Hill and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2008-12-26 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the Holy Grail of success philosophy: Napoleon Hill's complete and original formula to achievement presented in fifteen remarkable principles--now newly designed in a handsome single-volume edition. This is the master volume of the extraordinary work that began the career of Napoleon Hill. Originally produced by Hill in 1928 as an eight-book series, The Law of Success is now available to contemporary readers in a single edition, redesigned and reset for ease of reading. The Law of Success is the golden key to Hill's thought--his complete and unabridged mind-power method for achieving your goals. After interviewing dozens of industrialists, diplomats, thought leaders, and successful people from all walks of life, the young Hill distilled what he learned into these fifteen core lessons, organized with an introductory chapter, 'The Master Mind,' that serves as a primer to Hill's overall philosophy. As Hill saw it, these lessons work as a "mind stimulant" that "will cause the student to organize and direct to a DEFINITE end the forces of his or her mind, thus harnessing the stupendous power which most people waste." While future classics of Napoleon Hill would inspire millions of readers, there is no substitute for The Law of Success for everyone who wants to grasp the full range of Hill's ideas and tap their transformative power.
