Book The Cambridge Companion to Piaget

Download or read book The Cambridge Companion to Piaget written by Ulrich Müller and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-08-24 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jean Piaget (1896–1980) was listed among the 100 most important persons in the twentieth century by Time magazine, and his work - with its distinctive account of human development - has had a tremendous influence on a range of disciplines from philosophy to education, and notably in developmental psychology. The Cambridge Companion to Piaget provides a comprehensive introduction to different aspects of Piaget's work in a manner that does not eschew engagement with the complexities of subjects or debates yet is accessible to upper-level undergraduate students. Each chapter is a specially commissioned essay written by an expert on the subject matter. Thus, the book will also be of interest to academic psychologists, educational psychologists, and philosophers.

This book was released on 2002 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: * When and under what influences did scientific psychology originate in different parts of the world? * What are the intra- and international/regional sources of influence that have affected its development into the present form? These questions were applied to three regions and three countries, which were as follows (the names of the authors in charge are in parentheses): Latin American countries (Juan Jose Sanchez-Soza, Mexico), Scandinavian countries (Ingvar Lundberg, Sweden), German-speaking countries (Lothar Sprung, Germany), Spain (Helio Carpintero, Spain), China (Qicheng Jing and Fu Xiaolan, China), and Japan (Tadasu Oyama, Japan). Visual presentations, including maps of these regions/countries, tables showing the pedigrees of scientific psychology, and chronological tables with names of psychologists and affiliations, illustrate the stream of influences both temporally and spatially. These figures and tables are also used to look forward to the psychology of the 21st century. Download or read book Fiabilit technique et humaine written by LYONNET Patrick and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-10-22 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Interdisciplinary Works in Logic Epistemology Psychology and Linguistics

Download or read book Interdisciplinary Works in Logic Epistemology Psychology and Linguistics written by Manuel Rebuschi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-06-30 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents comparisons of recent accounts in the formalization of natural language (dynamic logics and formal semantics) with informal conceptions of interaction (dialogue, natural logic and attribution of rationality) that have been developed in both psychology and epistemology. There are four parts which explore: historical and systematic studies; the formalization of context in epistemology; the formalization of reasoning in interactive contexts in psychology; the formalization of pathological conversations. Part one discusses the Erlangen School, which proposed a logical analysis of science as well as an operational reconstruction of psychological concepts. These first chapters provide epistemological and psychological insights into a conceptual reassessment of rational reconstruction from a pragmatic point of view. The second focus is on formal epistemology, where there has recently been a vigorous contribution from experts in epistemic and doxatic logics and an attempt to account for a more realistic, cognitively plausible conception of knowledge. The third part of this book examines the meeting point between logic and the human and social sciences and the fourth part focuses on research at the intersection between linguistics and psychology. Internationally renowned scholars have contributed to this volume, building on the findings and themes relevant to an interdisciplinary scientific project called DiaRaFor (“Dialogue, Rationality, Formalisms”) which was hosted by the MSH Lorraine (Lorraine Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities) from 2007 to 2011.

Book Cooperation and Helping Behavior

Download or read book Cooperation and Helping Behavior written by Valerian J. Derlega and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-09-25 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cooperation and Helping Behavior: Theories and Research deals with theory and research with respect to positive forms of social behavior, with emphasis on cooperation and helping behavior. Topics covered include social values and rules of fairness; cognitive processes underlying cooperation; the effects of intergroup competition and cooperation on intragroup and intergroup relationships; and altruism and the problem of collective action. Comprised of 18 chapters, this book begins with an overview of theories and research on cooperation and helping behavior, followed by a discussion on the problem of interdependence within the context of interpersonal relations. Subsequent chapters deal with cognitive processes affecting cooperation; motivational and cognitive antecedents of cooperation; the effects of intergroup competition and cooperation on intragroup and intergroup relationships; and opportunities for gaining satisfactory solutions to conflict through negotiation. Social trap analogs of social dilemmas such as the energy crisis and overpopulation are also examined, together with altruism and the problem of collective action; justice-motive theory; arousal and cost-reward theory of bystander intervention; and the psychological aspects of receiving help. The final chapter considers types of psychological mechanisms underlying prosocial behavior and its development. This monograph will be of value to students and researchers in the field of psychology.
