Though sexual trauma may stem from diverse experiences it produces similar repercussions, impacting the whole person--from inter- and intrapersonal experiences to physiology. Therefore, psychologists must pursue treatments that have the capacity to address this wide breadth of sequelae while protecting against retraumatization. Recent literature reflects that group therapies appear to provide fairly robust means for the treatment of sexual trauma, addressing interpersonal disconnect, stigmatization, risk of revictimization, deficits in emotion regulation, self-concept, and PTSD symptoms. Psychodrama, a unique form of group therapy, appears to provide tools for an even more holistic approach. Though various aspects of psychodrama have been metabolized into other modalities, its use in its more classical form appears to remain a vital tool, a "major surgery" approach toward aiding survivors of sexual trauma in pursuing successful recovery and reintegration (Blatner, 1998, p. 165).
