Book MOBILITY MINING IN MOVING OBJECT TRAJECTORIES

Download or read book MOBILITY MINING IN MOVING OBJECT TRAJECTORIES written by Dr. Sajimon Abraham, Dr. P Sojan Lal and Dr. Dais George and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-06-09 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spatial and temporal properties are key aspects of many data analysis problems in business, government, and science. GPS technology is quickly enabling a number of new applications, including tracking fleets of vehicles, navigating boats and ships, pedestrian's tracking and tracking of wildlife. Another popular application of this technology is in cellular phones with embedded GPS sensors for vehicle and pedestrian's tracking. Through the availability of cheap sensor devices, we have witnessed an exponential growth of geo-tagged data in the last few years resulting in the availability of fine-grained spatial data at small temporal sampling intervals. Therefore, the actual challenge in spatio-temporal analysis is moving from acquiring the right data towards large-scale analysis of the available data. As this multidimensional data add more complexities in storing, indexing and querying, efficient methodologies have to be derived to manage these data using existing data base technology.

Book More for Less

Download or read book More for Less written by The Bellwether Group and published by FT Press. This book was released on 2011-07-27 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the eBook version of the printed book. Today, businesses can monitor security and operations at all facilities within an integrated infrastructure of Global Security Operations Centers (GSOCs)—thereby responding more quickly, effectively, and cost-efficiently to any actual or potential breach or disruptive event. Now, The Bellwether Group fills the gap on public literature on this subject, showing business and IT decision-makers how to use new GSOC techniques and technologies to increase operational resiliency in the face of security, safety, and other disruptive events, while at the same time reducing staffing and system-wide costs. Bellwether’s expert consultants explain how to implement a small number of physical GSOCs in different time zones to create a truly global infrastructure capable of supporting each other in emergencies. They demonstrate how to build efficient “virtual” GSOC infrastructures based on common, web-enabled platforms; accommodate activity peaks and long-term growth; centrally collect incident and event information for real-time analysis; and drive even more value by extending GSOCs into facilities management and supply chain security. GSOCs are becoming an increasingly widespread “best practice” among investment banks, asset management firms, manufacturers, retailers, and in other industries. This document draws on the experiences of these leading-edge implementers to offer insights of significant value to every large and mid-sized company.

Book Pervasive Social Computing

Download or read book Pervasive Social Computing written by Muhammad Ashad Kabir and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-11 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a review of traditional context-aware computing research, identifies its limitations in developing social context-aware pervasive systems, and introduces a new technology framework to address these limitations. Thus, this book provides a good reference for developments in context-aware computing and pervasive social computing. It examines the emerging area of pervasive social computing, which is a novel collective paradigm derived from pervasive computing, social media, social networking, social signal processing and multimodal human-computer interaction. This book offers a novel approach to model, represent, reason about and manage different types of social context. It shows how users’ social context information can be acquired from different online social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google Calendar. It further presents the use of social context information in developing innovative smart mobile applications to assist users in their daily life. The mix of both theoretical and applied research results makes this book attractive to a variety of readers from both academia and industry. This book provides a new platform for implementing different types of socially-aware mobile applications. The platform hides the complexity of managing social context, and thus provides essential support to application developers for the development of socially-aware applications. The book contains detailed descriptions of how the underlying platform has been implemented using available technologies such as ontology and rule engines, and how this platform can be used to develop socially-aware mobile applications using two exemplar applications. The book also presents evaluations of the proposed platform and applications using real-world data from Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Therefore, this book is a syndication of scientific research with practical industrial applications, making it useful to researchers as well as to software engineers.

Book No Fault Approaches in the NHS

Download or read book No Fault Approaches in the NHS written by Sonia Macleod and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-12 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how concerns can be raised about the NHS, why raising concerns hasn't always improved standards, and how a no-fault open culture approach could drive improvements. The book describes a wide range of mechanisms for raising concerns about the NHS, including complaints, the ombudsman, litigation, HSIB, and the major inquiries since 2000, across the various UK jurisdictions. The NHS approach is contextualised within the broader societal developments in dispute resolution, accountability, and regulation. The authors take a holistic view, and outline practical solutions for reforming how the NHS responds to problems. These should improve the situation for those raising concerns and for those working within the NHS, as well as providing cost savings. The no-fault approaches proposed in the book provide long-term sustainable solutions to systemic problems, which are particularly timely given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the NHS. The book will be of interest to academics, researchers, ADR practitioners, practising lawyers, and policy makers.

Book Handbook Of Climate Change And Agroecosystems The Agricultural Model Intercomparison And Improvement Project Agmip Integrated Crop And Economic Assessments Joint Publication With Asa Cssa And Sssa In 2 Parts

Download or read book Handbook Of Climate Change And Agroecosystems The Agricultural Model Intercomparison And Improvement Project Agmip Integrated Crop And Economic Assessments Joint Publication With Asa Cssa And Sssa In 2 Parts written by Daniel Hillel and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2015-02-13 with total page 1159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Top agricultural scientists from around the world have taken up the challenge of sustainable agriculture, with the specific focus on integrating agronomic, climatological, biophysical and socio-economic perspectives and processes. Every chapter (of the Handbook) contributes to addressing the growing food-security challenges facing the world.”Foreword by Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia UniversityClimate effects on agriculture are of increasing concern in both the scientific and policy communities because of the growing population and the greater uncertainty in the weather during growing seasons. Changes in production are directly linked to variations in temperature and precipitation during the growing season and often to the offseason changes in weather because of soil water storage to replenish the soil profile. This is not an isolated problem but one of worldwide interest because each country has concerns about their food security. The Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP) was developed to evaluate agricultural models and intercompare their ability to predict climate impacts. In sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, South America and East Asia, AgMIP regional research teams (RRTs) are conducting integrated assessments to improve understanding of agricultural impacts of climate change (including biophysical and economic impacts) at national and regional scales. Other AgMIP initiatives include global gridded modeling, data and information technology (IT) tool development, simulation of crop pests and diseases, site-based crop-climate sensitivity studies, and aggregation and scaling.
