Book Pseudofunctors on Modules with Zero Dimensional Support

Download or read book Pseudofunctors on Modules with Zero Dimensional Support written by I-Chiau Huang and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pseudofunctors with values on modules with zero dimensional support are constructed over the formally smooth category and residually finite category. Combining those pseudofunctors, a pseudofunctor over the category whose objects are Noetherian local rings and whose morphisms are local with finitely generated residue field extensions is constructed.

Book Maximality Properties in Numerical Semigroups and Applications to One Dimensional Analytically Irreducible Local Domains

Download or read book Maximality Properties in Numerical Semigroups and Applications to One Dimensional Analytically Irreducible Local Domains written by Valentina Barucci and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1997 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Chapter I, various (numerical) semigroup-theoretic concepts and constructions are introduced and characterized. Applications in Chapter II are made to the study of Noetherian local one-dimensional analytically irreducible integral domains, especially for the Gorenstein, maximal embedding dimension, and Arf cases, as well as to the so-called Kunz case, a pervasive kind of domain of Cohen-Macaulay type 2.

Book Variance and Duality for Cousin Complexes on Formal Schemes

Download or read book Variance and Duality for Cousin Complexes on Formal Schemes written by Joseph Lipman and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2005 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Hartshorne's book, Residues and Duality (1966, Springer-Verlag), introduced the notion of residual complexes and developed a duality theory (Grothendieck duality) on the category of maps of noetherian schemes. The three articles in this volume constitute a reworking of the main parts of the corresponding chapters in Hartshorne's 1966 book in greater generality using a somewhat different approach. In particular, throughout this volume, the authors work with arbitrary (quasi-coherent, torsion) Cousin complexes on formal schemes, not only with residual complexes on ordinary schemes. Additionally, their motivation is to help readers gain a better understanding of the relation between local properties of residues and global properties of the dualizing pseudofunctor. The book is suitable for graduate students and researchers working in algebraic geometry.

Book Analytic Deformations of the Spectrum of a Family of Dirac Operators on an Odd Dimensional Manifold with Boundary

Download or read book Analytic Deformations of the Spectrum of a Family of Dirac Operators on an Odd Dimensional Manifold with Boundary written by Paul Kirk and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analytic perturbation theory for eigenvalues of Dirac operators on odd dimensional manifolds with boundary is described in terms of [italic]extended L2 eigenvectors [end italics] on manifolds with cylindrical ends. These are generalizations of the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer extended [italic capital]L2 kernel of a Dirac operator. We prove that they form a discrete set near zero and deform analytically, in contrast to [italic capital]L2 eigenvectors, which can be absorbed into the continuous spectrum under deformations when the tangential operator is not invertible. We show that the analytic deformation theory for extended [italic capital]L2 eigenvectors and Atiyah-Patodi-Singer eigenvectors coincides.

Book Completely Positive Hypergroup Actions

Download or read book Completely Positive Hypergroup Actions written by Ajit Iqbal Singh and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now well know that the measure algebra [script capital]M([italic capital]G) of a locally compact group can be regarded as a subalgebra of the operator algebra [italic capital]B([italic capital]B([italic capital]L2([italic capital]G))) of the operator algebra [italic capital]B([italic capital]L2([italic capital]G)) of the Hilbert space [italic capital]L2([italic capital]G). We study the situation in hypergroups and find that, in general, the analogous map for them is neither an isometry nor a homomorphism. However, it is completely positive and completely bounded in certain ways. This work presents the related general theory and special examples.

Book Stratifying Endomorphism Algebras

Download or read book Stratifying Endomorphism Algebras written by Edward Cline and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents a systematic study of the relationships between the representation theories of [italic capital]R and [italic capital]A, especially those involving actual or potential quasi-hereditary structures on the latter algebra. Our original motivation comes from the theory of Schur algebras, work of Soergel on the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand category [script capital]O, and resent results of Dlab-Heath-Marko realizing certain endomorphism algebras as quasi-hereditary algebras. We synthesize common features of all these examples, and go beyond them in a number of new directions.

Book Triangular Algebras and Ideals of Nest Algebras

Download or read book Triangular Algebras and Ideals of Nest Algebras written by John Lindsay Orr and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Immersive environments such as virtual reality technology makes possible can respond to their audiences, so that each person's experience of the environment is unique. This volume brings together 11 essays along with artists' projects produced at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada to explore issues raised by the creation of virtual environments. The essays approach the social and cultural implications of cyberspace from the perspective of cultural studies, communications, art history, art criticism, English, and women's studies; while artists who created nine virtual worlds at the Banff Centre discuss what they have tried to accomplish in both theoretical and technical terms. With 64 illustrations, including 18 color plates. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Two Generator Discrete Subgoups of PSL 2 R

Download or read book Two Generator Discrete Subgoups of PSL 2 R written by Jane Gilman and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discreteness problem is the problem of determining whether or not a two-generator subgroup of $PSL(2, R)$ is discrete. Historically, papers on this old and subtle problem have been known for their errors and omissions. This book presents the first complete geometric solution to the discreteness problem by building upon cases previously presented by Gilman and Maskit and by developing a theory of triangle group shinglings/tilings of the hyperbolic plane and a theory explaining why the solution must take the form of an algorithm. This work is a thoroughly readable exposition that captures the beauty of the interplay between the algebra and the geometry of the solution.

Book Degenerate Principal Series for Symplectic and Odd Orthogonal Groups

Download or read book Degenerate Principal Series for Symplectic and Odd Orthogonal Groups written by Chris Jantzen and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This memoir studies reducibility in a certain class of induced representations for and , where is -adic. In particular, it is concerned with representations obtained by inducing a one-dimensional representation from a maximal parabolic subgroup (i.e., degenerate principal series representations). Using the Jacquet module techniques of Tadić, the reducibility points for such representations are determined. When reducible, the composition series is described, giving Langlands data and Jacquet modules for the irreducible composition factors.

Book Compact Connected Lie Transformation Groups on Spheres with Low Cohomogeneity I

Download or read book Compact Connected Lie Transformation Groups on Spheres with Low Cohomogeneity I written by Eldar Straume and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cohomogeneity of a transformation group ([italic capitals]G, X) is, by definition, the dimension of its orbit space, [italic]c = dim [italic capitals]X, G. By enlarging this simple numerical invariant, but suitably restricted, one gradually increases the complexity of orbit structures of transformation groups. This is a natural program for classical space forms, which traditionally constitute the first canonical family of testing spaces, due to their unique combination of topological simplicity and abundance in varieties of compact differentiable transformation groups.

Book Geometry of Loop Spaces and the Cobar Construction

Download or read book Geometry of Loop Spaces and the Cobar Construction written by Hans J. Baues and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1980 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The homology of iterated loop spaces [capital Greek]Omega [superscript]n [italic]X has always been a problem of major interest because it gives some insight into the homotopy of [italic]X, among other things. Therefore, if [italic]X is a CW-complex, one has been interested in small CW models for [capital Greek]Omega [superscript]n [italic]X in order to compute the cellular chain complex. The author proves a very general model theorem from which he can derive models, in addition to very technical proofs of the model theorem for several other models.

Book Lebesgue Theory in the Bidual of C X

Download or read book Lebesgue Theory in the Bidual of C X written by Samuel Kaplan and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present work is based upon our monograph "The Bidual of [italic capital]C([italic capital]X)" ([italic capital]X being compact). We generalize to the bidual the theory of Lebesgue integration, with respect to Radon measures on [italic capital]X, of bounded functions. The bidual of [italic capital]C([italic capital]X) contains this space of bounded functions, but is much more 'spacious', so the body of results can be expected to be richer. Finally, we show that by projection onto the space of bounded functions, the standard theory is obtained.

Book Finite Rational Matrix Groups

Download or read book Finite Rational Matrix Groups written by Gabriele Nebe and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of finite rational matrix groups reduces to the investigation of the maximal finite irreducible matrix groups and their natural lattices, which often turn out to have rather beautiful geometric and arithmetic properties. This book presents a full classification in dimensions up to 23 and with restrictions in dimensions and p +1 and p-1 for all prime numbers p. Nonmaximal finite groups might act on several types of lattices and therefore embed into more than one maximal finite group. This gives rise to a simplicial complex interrelating the maximal finite groups and measuring the complexity of the dimension. Group theory, integral representation theory, arithmetic theory of quadratic forms and algorithmic methods are used.

Book Compact Connected Lie Transformation Groups on Spheres with Low Cohomogeneity II

Download or read book Compact Connected Lie Transformation Groups on Spheres with Low Cohomogeneity II written by Eldar Straume and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1997 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cohomogeneity of a transformation group ([italic capitals]G, X) is, by definition, the dimension of its orbit space, [italic]c = dim [italic capitals]X, G. We are concerned with the classification of differentiable compact connected Lie transformation groups on (homology) spheres, with [italic]c [less than or equal to symbol] 2, and the main results are summarized in five theorems, A, B, C, D, and E in part I. This paper is part II of the project, and addresses theorems D and E. D examines the orthogonal model from theorem A and orbit structures, while theorem E addresses the existence of "exotic" [italic capital]G-spheres.
