Book Don t Call Me Grandma

Download or read book Don t Call Me Grandma written by Ilene Leventhal and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2015-11-12 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To most people, the very word grandma conjures up images of old, blue-haired women in a flower-print apron and wearing sensible shoes in the kitchen, baking cookies. But times have changed. In her book Don't Call Me Grandma! A Guide for the 21st-Century Grandmother, author Ilene Leventhal dispels the stereotype of the so-called typical grandmother. Today's grandmother is so much more. They are socially active and even text and e-mail. They bring a whole new definition of cool, proving once and for all that some things never go out of style. Don't Call Me Grandma! is a handbook for the new generation of grandmothers, as well as mothers and even mothers-in-law. Blue hair has been traded for younger cuts, our baking for trips for fun fast food, and the flower-print aprons for tennis skirts, matching tops, and cute boots. Don't Call Me Grandma! A Guide for the 21st-Century Grandmother shows how to break out of that "old" image, and still bake cookies if you want. You can become someone who knows how to relate to her grandchildren. Your grandchildren will never think of you simply as "grandma" ever again.

Book excerpt: The natural and supernatural worlds are deeply intertwined. And though many of us may have difficulty accessing the spirit world, there are those among us who have the ability to sense and connect with the unseen world of spirit, bridging the gap and linking them together for us. In Lasting Impressions, author and medium Geoffrey Jowett invites us on his remarkable lifelong journey serving the spirit world, where he accepted the honor and reverence of being a mediuma voice for beings who have crossed the bridge into spirit. From his earliest memories of staring with awe and wonder at the luminescent entities that would visit him as a child, to his life of training and cultivating his interest in spirituality and higher consciousness, Geoffrey shares his calling and joy to be communicating messages from the higher vibrational plane of spirit. The main purpose of spirit communication is to support the natural law that life is continuous and eternal! Therefore, consciousness survives the death of the physical body. Beyond that, spirits have many reasons to give messages, such as those of encouragement, direction, appreciation, and wisdom. Hear in Lasting Impressions these compelling messages, and be a part of the link between the natural and the spiritual.

Book Sprout and Horses in Tennis Shoes

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of two related stories: Sprout, and Horses in Tennis Shoes. "Sprout" The author was inspired to write the story of "Sprout" after a perfect spring day of skiing through the woods. With plenty of time to let his imagination wander, he wondered how life would be if you were a spruce tree. With his vivid imagination, the author wrote this story for his grandchildren. However, after a few pages of writing, the story took on a life of its own and turned out to be a story about nature, friendship, and the circle of life. This is a touching and emotional story as seen from the perspective of a spruce tree. It is a story for children of all ages from three to ninety-five. "Horses in Tennis Shoes" In this story the author describes the caring relationship between Grandpa and Grandma, who enjoy a quiet lifestyle where nothing much ever happens. After having restored a couple of neglected plastic toy rocking horses, they discover to their surprise and horror that the horses come alive at night when the moon is full. Grandpa tries to keep it a secret from the neighbors that they have live plastic horses running around at night leaving tiny horse tracks in the snow. The elderly couple makes various kinds of footwear for the horses to disguise their identity, but unfortunately with mixed results. At one point, Grandpa and Grandma make woolen socks for the horses that leaves lynx tracks in the snow, but that does not sit well with the real lynx population. The horses create an uproar when one night they prance around on a popular ski trail wearing dinosaur shoes that Grandpa has made. That little incident gets in the newspaper, and the ski trail is closed. These are just a few of the horses' adventures described in the story that is action-packed and written with plenty of humor. You can read this story to your children, but you can also enjoy the story by yourself and end up feeling good inside and with a big smile on your face.

Book excerpt: After December 25, 2007, the Redenius family would never be the same again. Just days before, DeAnn had proclaimed to her husband the frustration she felt about the true meaning of Christmas, which was the birth of Christ. This message seemed to have diminished in importance everywhere she looked, whether it was in a store, an advertisement, or in the songs played on a radio station, Jesus seemed to be taken out of Christmas. DeAnn reminded herself what Christmas was really aboutwho Jesus really was and why He came to save mankind in the first place. As she made a promise that night to God that she would make sure everyone knew who Jesus was, DeAnn never thought that she would be called out to deliver His message so soon! It was the phone call they received the night of Christmas that would change the lives of the family forever. DeAnn was later instructed to give her testimony of Jesus Christ in a time of tragedy when her family learned what it truly meant to accept Christs unfailing love and salvation with an indescribable heart of what it truly means to forgive and love one another. Jesus called all to have that Heart like a Child. This is where DeAnns story begins and endswith the message of believing even when Gods ways cannot be seen or understood. In the midst their trials and sufferings, DeAnn and her family chose to look to God and take refuge, for there was hope for a new day.
