Book Personal Protective Equipment for Chemical Biological and Radiological Hazards

Download or read book Personal Protective Equipment for Chemical Biological and Radiological Hazards written by Eva F. Gudgin Dickson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-09-25 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is critical for those dealing with toxic, infectious, and radioactive materials. An easily accessible guide for professionals and researchers in all PPE fields, this book takes a fresh look at how PPE is designed, selected, and used in today's emergency response environment where users may need to be protected against deliberately used chemical, biological, or radiological agents in terrorism or warfare scenarios as well as more traditional hazards. Covering the physics, chemistry, and physiology of these hazards, the book explains how PPE protects from various forms of hazards as well as how to use this information to select PPE against these highly hazardous substances for first responder or military users. The design of PPE and components plus relevant performance and evaluation standards are also discussed.

Book New Comprehensive Performance Standards for Chemical Protective Gloves Boots and Other Types of Protective Clothing

Download or read book New Comprehensive Performance Standards for Chemical Protective Gloves Boots and Other Types of Protective Clothing written by JO. Stull and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is developing new standards on several types of protective clothing. Among these are comprehensive standards for hazardous chemical protective suits, and protective clothing used in emergency medical operations. These standards complement the existing standards published by the NFPA for chemical protective suits. Entailed in the development of each standard is the choice of requirements, methods for measuring material or clothing item performance, and how specific performance levels are established. Each standard, therefore, includes a list of requirements that address the overall performance of the clothing item, material barrier properties to either chemicals or biological agents, material physical properties, and functional or design aspects important to type of clothing being specified. The final selection of these requirements has been based on verification testing on representative products to ensure that the respective requirement simulates the hazard condition and to determine if chosen test methods can accommodate the range of materials products to be tested. Data generated from verification testing is then used to select minimum performance levels when compared to field experience in the use of tested products.

Book Design of Clothing Manufacturing Processes

Download or read book Design of Clothing Manufacturing Processes written by Jelka Geršak and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Design of Clothing Manufacturing Processes comprehensively addresses the design and planning of clothing manufacturing processes, beginning with the classification of clothing and discussion of its market, clothing sizing systems, and the key issues involved in developing a fashion collection. Special emphasis is placed on production planning and control, with detailed coverage of the processes of design, pattern making and cutting, joining techniques, work analysis, clothing manufacturing planning, and the behaviour, performance, and quality of materials critical to the development, planning, and control of manufacturing processes and the sale of garments. With its descriptions of the rapid, integrated, and flexible manufacturing systems of today, driven by demand information, this book explains how new supply chain models and manufacturing processes can lead to a much quicker route from design to distribution. This new edition is updated with important new research and topics, including digital fashion incorporating scientific aspects of fabric modelling, simulation and digital fitting, and the performance of seams as an important criterion for the quality and appearance of clothing. - Considers in detail the design of clothing classification and sizing systems - Comprehensively presents the requirements of digital fashion, the terminology used for virtual garment, fabric modelling for virtual clothing simulation, and digital fitting - Covers the production planning in all aspects of clothing production from design and pattern making to manufacture - Provides a thorough review and description of quality requirements for clothing materials - Looks in detail at the performance of stitched seams, from the theoretical basis for determining seam strength and the parameters that affect seam strength, to the phenomenon of seam pucker
