El carácter conflictivo, polémico de la educación y del currículum se evidencian, particularmente, en sociedades democráticas plurales que afrontan un futuro lleno de incertidumbres. Esta obra recoge una selección de textos sobre el currículum que abordan temas como: La inseguridad y el conflicto en la educación. La complejidad de la educación obligatoria, que debe afrontar la enorme diversidad social, cultural e individual de las personas en una escolaridad que sea igualadora. Cómo debería ser el currículum de los niveles obligatorios del sistema educativo, en una sociedad en la que la información y el conocimiento se han diversificado muchísimo y crecen exponencialmente. Los ámbitos donde tiene lugar la planificación de la acción educativa, en particular el político, el del centro educativo y el del aula. Los materiales donde se concreta el desarrollo del currículum de forma masiva: los libros de texto, con sus peculiaridades y posibilidades. Se trata de un texto muy útil para quienes se acercan por primera veza este ámbito de estudio con el fin de estudiar el currículum, su significado, diseño y desarrollo, y también para los profesionales de la educaciónen el ejercicio de su profesión, implicados en la educación y conocedores de la complejidad de su oficio.

Esperando generar y comprender los distintos componentes del cual está formado e identificar las posibles relaciones de un modelo curricular que busque la formación y construcción de un sujeto en esta sociedad. Todo esto, a través de algunos elementos de un modelo teórico que lo representen. Este trabajo se presentará a través de una metodología de línea cualitativa e interpretativa que busca lograr comprender y representar teóricamente los hallazgos, desarrollándose a través de la técnica de la teoría fundamentada desde lo planteado por los investigadores Strauss y Corbin. Desde este aspecto, se generan dos elementos bastante interesantes en este estudio. Uno es la metodología utilizada, siendo posible establecerse como un pequeño aporte a la investigación educativa, ya que desde la revisión realizada no existen muchos antecedentes del uso de esta metodología, por lo menos revisados desde el ámbito del curriculum y de la sociedad del conocimiento. Y el segundo elemento, es establecer la posibilidad de discutir elementos de la sociedad del conocimiento desde la perspectiva del curriculum, ya que se ponen en juego y se discuten elementos teóricos que sustentan el estudio de esta disciplina, en un contexto del sumamente actual. Logrando, desde la perspectiva del investigador, dilucidar elementos que son fundamentales en los constituyentes curriculares, cuando se piensa y se construye un modelo curricular en y para la sociedad del conocimiento.
