Book Proposed Plan for the Collection of the Foreign Debt of the United States Settlement of German Reparations and Establishment of an Internal Gold Currency Classic Reprint

Download or read book Proposed Plan for the Collection of the Foreign Debt of the United States Settlement of German Reparations and Establishment of an Internal Gold Currency Classic Reprint written by Frank D. Pavey and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-17 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Proposed Plan for the Collection of the Foreign Debt of the United States, Settlement of German Reparations, and Establishment of an Internal Gold Currency It is stated in the public press that President Harding has requested the submission of plans for the collection of the foreign debt due the United States. In all discussions of this subject economists and international bankers insist that the collection of the foreign debt due to the United States is inextricably and inevitably interwoven with the settlement of German reparations and the re-adjustment of foreign exchange on a gold basis. It is simpler to accept the inter-relation of these three things and propose a plan to cover them all rather than controvert the arguments in support of their inter-dependence. In this revised form the topics entitled The Position of the United States; Treaty of Versailles and Treaty of Berlin and Cancellation of Allied Debts to the United States have been added and other topics slightly changed. The plan proposed may present difficulties but it is con crete, practical and constructive and the history of the repara tions controversy shows that it will be acceptable to the Allies and to Germany if the various propositions which they have made in regard to the subject from time to time have been made in good faith. If the United States will take the initiative and make the first moves the nations of Europe will necessarily follow the lead. Download or read book The United States in World War I written by James T. Controvich and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2023-05-08 with total page 657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the centennial of the First World War rapidly approaching, historian and bibliographer James T. Controvich offers in The United States in World War I: A Bibliographic Guide the most comprehensive, up-to-date reference bibliography yet published. Organized by subject, this bibliography includes the full range of sources: vintage publications of the time, books, pamphlets, periodical titles, theses, dissertations, and archival sources held by federal and state organizations, as well as those in public and private hands, including historical societies and museums. As Controvich’s bibliographic accounting makes clear, there were many facets of World War I that remain virtually unknown to this day. Throughout, Controvich’s bibliography tracks the primary sources that tell each of these stories—and many others besides—during this tense period in American history. Each entry lists the author, title, place of publication, publisher, date of publication, and page count as well as descriptive information concerning illustrations, plates, ports, maps, diagrams, and plans. The armed forces section carries additional information on rosters, awards, citations, and killed and wounded in action lists. The United States in World War I: A Bibliographic Guide is an ideal research tool for students and scholars of World War I and American history.

Book Economic Crises and Global Politics in the 20th Century

Download or read book Economic Crises and Global Politics in the 20th Century written by Alexander Nützenadel and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-08 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the history of economic crises from the angle of international politics and its transformation throughout the 20th century. While political and economic debates in the wake of the present financial crisis are revolving around the question of how to create effective forms of global governance, historians have discovered a long tradition of international economic regulation that can be traced back to the late 19th century. In the global economy, sovereign defaults, banking crises and currency crashes have been recurrent phenomena. At the same time, alongside the growing globalization of commodity and capital markets, nation-states have introduced new forms of regulation both on the national and international level. The experience of economic crises has been an important driver behind numerous initiatives to foster global politics. The purpose of the book is to reconnect economic history with the perspectives of political economy and the history of international relations. It forms a dialogue between the disciplines that have been increasingly separated throughout the past decades. With first-rate economic historians and political economists writing for a wider audience, it simultaneously makes public debates and methods of recent cutting-edge research in economic history within a wider academic community. This book was originally published as a special issue of the European Review of History.
