Book Prophetically Poetically Speaking

Download or read book Prophetically Poetically Speaking written by Kimeka Langley and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-06-16 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book of poems is a reflection of God's heart. During quiet times and just being still I allowed God to stretch my mind. At one point in time I could never really figure out why I had all these messages on the inside of me. There was a burning desire on the inside of me to share my poems with the world. We all have a story to tell and poetry is the way that I express my innermost thoughts. I hope this book helps anyone to realize that we'd be amazed at the ability our minds can be stretched, if we would only be still and listen for that still small voice. Even though we all may go through many things in life, everything we go through is never wasted because God will use what the devil meant for bad and turn it around for our good. So, now all the things that we've been through can be used as a healing balm to the world. To give others hope because there is a purpose for your pain. God has now used my pain and my struggles as a stepping-stone for me to reach the place of my purpose. God has a lot to say to the world, so never be afraid to go above and beyond your comfort zone. Stretching is the ability to be pushed and pulled, but yet still bouncing back stronger than ever. After reading this book I hope it gives you inspiration so that no matter what we may think is wasted, God can use it to bring healing to someone else. That gifts and anointings are not only to be used behind the pulpit. God wants us to reach out further and let our light shine.

Download or read book Finally Comes the Poet written by Walter Brueggemann and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 1989-01-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Christian gospel, says Brueggemann, is too easily preached and heard. Too often technical reason and excessive religious certitude reduce the gospel to coercive, debilitating pietisms that mask the text's meaning and freeze the hearers heart. With skill and imagination, Brueggemann demonstrates how the preacher can engage in daring speech?differently voiced and therefore differently heard. This speech, as suggested by the Bible itself, is "poetic" speech, enabling the preacher to forge communion in the midst of alienation, bring healing out of guilt, and empower the hearer for "missional imagination." As an alternative to theological/homiletical discourse that is moralistic, pietistic or scholastic, Brueggemann proposes preaching that is artistic, poetic, and dramatic. The basis for the 1989 Lyman Beecher Lectures at Yale Divinity School, Finally Comes the Poet is a unique and transforming guide for powerful preaching.

Book An Introduction to the Old Testament Poetic Books

Download or read book An Introduction to the Old Testament Poetic Books written by C. Hassell Bullock and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2007-09-01 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poetic books of the Old Testament--Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon--are often called humankind's reach toward God. The other books of the Old Testament picture God's reach toward man through the redemptive story. Yet these five books reveal the very hear of men and women struggling with monumental issues such as suffering, sin, forgiveness, joy, worship, and the passionate love between a man and woman. C. Hassell Bullock, a noted Old Testament scholar, delves deep into the hearts of the five poetic books, offering readers helpful details such as harmeneutical considerations for each book, theological content and themes, detailed analysis of each book, and cultural perspectives. Hebrew is a language of "intrinsic musical quality that naturally supports poetic expression," says Bullock in his introduction. That poetic expression comes from the heart of the Old Testament writers and reaches all of us exactly where we are in our own struggles and joys.

Download or read book Prophetic Love Revelations written by Jocelyn Willis and published by Tate Publishing & Enterprises. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prophetic Love Revelations, Poetic Delicacies for the Optimist is a book written from a place of avoidance. Ive had a passion for writing for some time. There was one thing I refrained from about writing and that was love. I found myself running from the tugging in my spirit. I had good reason too! During my premature journey as a believer I experienced a broken engagement. My heart was shattered and I needed time to heal. I had shoved the very idea of love to the back burner. Believing in love again was at a demise to me. Well at least I thought. The desire that I was running from was pursuing me. It was different this time, it was the Holy Spirit. God was preparing an awakening from the depths of my soul. He was bringing love to the surface, he was bringing love to life. Prophetic Love Revelations, is a book of poetry and short stories. I chose to write my book with declarations from the heart. Readers are given reminders of fruits of the spirit. I share godly characteristics at the beginning of each chapter. Throughout PROPHETIC LOVE REVELATIONS, there are detailed writings about longing. I noticed the quantity of unmarried ladies and men in the body of Christ. I was propelled to share my heart in a way that single Christians could relate. The stories and poetry were written to empower and ease the sting of loneliness. Each chapter starts with a biblical scripture to replenish readers with the word of GOD. Love is patient, love is kind. 1 Corinthians 13:4 KJV. My desire was to shed light concerning singleness in the body of Christ. Each stanza gives you not only hope but fuel to step out and believe beyond the fear of your past. Prophetic Love Revelations, Poetic Delicacies for the Optimist is a book that will inspire you to trust again. The desire has always been there, God will allow an awakening to take place. While tearfully writing this book, I was reminded that love still resides in my heart. Throughout the chapters youll read about prophetic revelations spoken by Christ. On a few occasions while writing, my ears heard an encouraging voice. God reveals through the pages of what will come. Through the extremity of my faith, I have hopes that with the turn of every page love will arise. The pathway through, PROPHETIC LOVE REVELATIONS is laced with intensity of my belief in Christ that love will be found by all.

Book Speaking of Speaking

    Book Details:
  • Author : Samuel Meier
  • Publisher : BRILL
  • Release : 2014-09-03
  • ISBN : 9004275703
  • Pages : 402 pages

Download or read book Speaking of Speaking written by Samuel Meier and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-09-03 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Direct speech appears on nearly every page of the Hebrew Bible, and the large number of publications on direct discourse in the Bible highlights the importance of the subject for biblical studies. However, thus far only isolated aspects of the various problems that direct discourse presents have received attention. Studies of individual verbs introducing direct discourse, such as "answer", "speak", "say", and others are necessarily atomistic, even though appropriate in their own right. Other markers of direct discourse, such as "Thus said Yahweh", or "oracle of Yahweh", tend to be treated as theological constructs isolated from the larger issues of direct discourse marking in general. Speaking of Speaking aims to enrich the reading of the biblical text by offering a coordinated analysis of all such markers, not only in order to consolidate a considerable body of work that is often overlooked by scholars, but also to move further toward a synthesis that can permit informed generalizations not possible at the present time. The comprehensive index facilitates the use of this book as a valuable reference tool. The exegetical, literary, and theological findings of this book will be of great significance for all levels of research in biblical studies.

Book Interpreting Ancient Israelite History Prophecy and Law

Download or read book Interpreting Ancient Israelite History Prophecy and Law written by John H Hayes and published by James Clarke & Company. This book was released on 2017-04-27 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than five decades, John Hayes's scholarship has had a decisive influence on scholars and students in the field of Hebrew Bible study. This collection of ten essays, written between 1968 and 1995, displays his remarkable and thought-provoking elucidation of Israelite history, prophecy, and law. These essays make significant contributions that challenge the mainstream scholarship establishment with their daring interpretations and explanations, along with their bold, innovative theories. The way in which Hayes approaches the study of seminal figures, biblical texts, and historical reconstructions, combined with his analysis of specific methods, will have lasting implications for contemporary scholarship. He argues that biblical texts must be understood as being embedded within the particular historical, social, cultural, and political matrices from which they emerged. Whether exploring the social formation of early Israel, the final years of Samaria, or the social concept ofcovenant, he demonstrates a textually focussed and exegetically based approach. Hayes's essays provide valuable insights that help contextualise developments within mid- to late-twentieth-century interpretation, thereby granting scholars glimpsesof key moments in the evolution of particular methods, trends, and models that have given shape to current research approaches. Familiarity with Hayes's writings thus allows contemporary interpreters to envisage new avenues and perspectives in critical discussion of the Hebrew Bible.
