Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiation and Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves serves as a text in electrical engineering or electrophysics. The book discusses the electromagnetic theory; plane electromagnetic waves in homogenous isotropic and anisotropic media; and plane electromagnetic waves in inhomogenous stratified media. The text also describes the spectral representation of elementary electromagnetic sources; the field of a dipole in a stratified medium; and radiation in anisotropic plasma. The properties and the procedures of Green's function method of solution, axial currents, as well as cylindrical boundaries are also considered. The book further tackles diffraction by cylindrical structures and apertures on cylindrical structures. Students taking electrical engineering or electrophysics will find the book useful.

Book Radio Frequency Propagation Through an Inhomogeneous Magnetoactive Nonlinear Plasma Medium

Download or read book Radio Frequency Propagation Through an Inhomogeneous Magnetoactive Nonlinear Plasma Medium written by R. J. Papa and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boltzmann equation corresponding to an electromagnetic wave propagating in a magnetoactive plasma is solved by making a spherical harmonic expansion of the electron distribution function. The problem of a plane, monochromatic wave normally incident upon a nonlinear, anisotropic, inhomogeneous plasma slab is also considered.

Book Nonlinear Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Plasmas

Download or read book Nonlinear Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Plasmas written by Robert J. Papa and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review is presented of the current literature pertaining to high power rf field-plasma interactions. In the survey, the class of nonlinear interactions is restricted to the case where the effective dielectric constant of the plasma is a function of the local electric field intensity. Since the propagation characteristics of an em wave depend upon the effective dielectric constant, the presence of an intense rf field can modify the propagation characteristics of an em wave. The assumptions and basic theoretical approach of each author are discussed and the most significant results are summarized. The approaches used by different authors are compared. A critique is made of the various appraches and their advantages and limitations are pointed out. (Author).

Book Electromagnetic Waves in Stratified Media

Download or read book Electromagnetic Waves in Stratified Media written by James R. Wait and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs in Electromagnetic Waves, Volume 3: Electromagnetic Waves in Stratified Media provides information pertinent to the electromagnetic waves in media whose properties differ in one particular direction. This book discusses the important feature of the waves that enables communications at global distances. Organized into 13 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the general analysis for the electromagnetic response of a plane stratified medium comprising of any number of parallel homogeneous layers. This text then explains the reflection of electromagnetic waves from planar stratified media. Other chapters consider the oblique reflection of plane electromagnetic waves from a continuously stratified medium. This book discusses as well the fundamental theory of wave propagation around a sphere. The final chapter deals with the theory of propagation in a spherically stratified medium. This book is a valuable resource for electrical engineers, scientists, and research workers.

Book Electromagnetic Wave Theory

Download or read book Electromagnetic Wave Theory written by J. C. Brown and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetic Wave Theory, Part 2 contains the proceedings of a Symposium on Electromagnetic Wave Theory held at Delft, The Netherlands in September 1965. The symposium provided a forum for discussing electromagnetic wave theory and tackled a wide range of topics, from propagation in nonlinear media to electromagnetic wave propagation and amplification in solid-state plasmas. Electromagnetic waves in nonlinear transmission lines with active parameters are also considered, along with the phase dependence of maser active material Q-factor on pump intensity and frequency. Comprised of four sections, this volume begins with an analysis of two modes of propagation that are coupled through parametric modulation in nonlinear media. The discussion then turns to symmetry restrictions in nonlinear, non-absorbing, non-dispersive media; nonlinear interaction between two beams of plane electromagnetic waves in an anisotropic medium; radiation in periodically non-stationary media; and electromagnetic wave propagation in time-varying media. Subsequent chapters explore the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by plasma structures; resonant electromagnetic scattering from gyrotropic plasmas; scattering and transmission of electromagnetic waves at a statistically rough boundary between two dielectric media; and developments in wavefront reconstruction. This book will be useful for students, practitioners, and researchers in physics.

Book The Propagation of Radio Waves

Download or read book The Propagation of Radio Waves written by K. G. Budden and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1988-08-04 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the ionosphere and the magnetosphere, and the theory of their effect on radio waves. It includes accounts of some mathematical topics now widely used in this study, particularly W. K. B. approximations, Airy integral functions and integration by steepest descents. The subject is divided into ray theory and full wave theory. Ray theory is useful for high frequencies when the ionosphere is treated as a horizonally stratified medium. The discussion of the magnetosphere, whose structure is more complicated, includes an account of whistlers and ion cyclotron whistlers. The book has been planned both for final year undergraduates and as a reference book for research. It is suitable as a course book on radio propagation for students of physics or electrical engineering or mathematics. Some of the topics are presented from an elementary viewpoint so as to help undergraduates new to the subject. The later parts are more advanced. Because the subject is so large and has seen many important recent advances, some topics have had to be treated briefly, but there is a full bibliography with about 600 references.
