Book excerpt: Our childhood home is our first school, and our parents are our first love teachers. Our capacity to love grows out of our first interactions with our parents and caregivers. Project Love is a systematic analysis of why most life crises have the issue of love at their core. It is based on a proven psychological concept that our childhood experiences become the blueprint that we use as adults to navigate our love relationships and the world. Our beliefs about love is a family inheritance, which has been passed down through many generations. Making a transformational change involves honest examination of our worldview that is essentially made up of our learned beliefs. This book offers new possibilities for happiness, which is nothing more than removal of what stands in the way of our natural ability to experiencing love.

Book excerpt: Loving your body is hard to do. Project Body Love is the story of my quest to find acceptance, respect, and maybe even love for my body after spending a lifetime counting calories and drops of sweat. What followed was a two-year series of experiments that had me mining the depths of my past, dismantling the effects of Diet Culture on my self-worth, taking up bellydancing, posing for nude photographs, and other daring feats of self-exploration. Far from being a shiny tale of self-actualization, Project Body Love explores the complexity of being a fat person in a thin-obsessed world, and concludes with an entirely new perspective on the elusive body love - one that was surprising, even to me. This is my story, and so much of it is also the story of millions of other women. And so. I wrote this for every woman who has spent too much time trying to make herself small. I wrote it for every woman who wants to love her body, but can't figure out how. I wrote this for a world that needs its women committed to revolution and sovereignty and joy, not eating more salad.

Book Death a Love Project

Download or read book Death a Love Project written by Annie Bolitho and published by . This book was released on 2019-06-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Death, a love project is a guide about life and death for those who already understand the importance of end-of-life arrangements, and those with little experience who might wonder about that time. It engages with the complexity and richness of understandings and feelings that commonly arise, as well as the practical demands around dying and death. It is not unusual to feel nervous about death and see it as an unwelcome time of crisis, but many people experience it as a time of wonder and transformation. Stories of innovation and change around death and end-of-life rituals now appear frequently in the media, highlighting that the more you know, the more options there are for how to 'do death'. This is a great primer on death literacy, highlighting the importance of taking your time, and topics such as personal values and preferences, rituals, creativity, affordability and environmental sustainability. The book is based on Annie's long experience as a facilitator of arrangements and rituals, a celebrant and educator. It aims to help those who are thinking ahead about their own later life, as well as those who are confronted with a death. Death, a love project is a short, readable, and essential reference for people of all ages, including baby boomers who aren't ready to cross the threshold of a funeral company. Ever since the Egyptians put honey into their tombs there have been rituals to help us with the awesome mystery of death. This little book conveys what we can do as families and communities to have good rituals today.Cedar Anderson, CEO Flow HiveDeath: a love project will help Australians looking for unique and empowering ways to celebrate the legacy of life. Annie Bolitho's book takes the reader on an inspiring journey of caring for each other in community ¿ right up to the last breath.Jessie Williams CEO, The Groundswell Project.

Book excerpt: To honor his wife, Catherine Zanga, on the one-year anniversary of her death from ovarian cancer, Hyong and his two young children gave strangers 100 handwritten love notes, notes that chronicled Hyong and Catherine's life together, from their first meeting, to dating, marriage, children, and her death, which came far too soon. Book The Form of Love

Download or read book The Form of Love written by James Kuzner and published by Fordham University Press. This book was released on 2021-08-03 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can poetry articulate something about love that philosophy cannot? The Form of Love argues that it can. In close readings of seven “metaphysical” poems, the book shows how poets of the early modern period and beyond use poetic form to turn philosophy to other ends, in order not to represent the truth about love but to create a virtual experience of love, in all its guises. The Form of Love shows how verse creates love that can’t exist without poetry’s specific affordances, and how poems can, in their impossibility, prompt love’s radical re-imagining. Like the philosophies on which they draw, metaphysical poems imagine love as an intense form of non-sovereignty, of giving up control. They even imagine love as a liberating bondage—to a friend, a beloved, a saint, a God, or a garden. Yet these poems create strange, striking versions of such love, made in, rather than through, the devices, structures, and forces where love appears. Tracing how poems think, Kuzner argues, requires an intimate form of reading: close—even too close—attention to and thinking with the text. Showing how poetry thinks of love otherwise than other fields, the book reveals how poetry and philosophy can nevertheless enter into a relation that is itself like love.
