Book Progress of MICE RFCC Module

Download or read book Progress of MICE RFCC Module written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent progress on the design and fabrication of the RFCC (RF and superconducting Coupling Coil) module for the international MICE (Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment) are reported. The MICE ionization cooling channel has two RFCC modules, each having four 201- MHz normal conducting RF cavities surrounded by one superconducting coupling coil (solenoid) magnet. The magnet is designed to be cooled by three cryocoolers. Fabrication of the RF cavities is complete; preparation for the cavity electro-polishing, low power RF measurements, and tuning are in progress at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Fabrication of the cold mass of the first coupling coil magnet has been completed in China and the cold mass arrived at LBNL in late 2011. Preparations for testing the cold mass are currently under way at Fermilab. Plans for the RFCC module assembly and integration are being developed and are described.

Book Progress on the RF Coupling Coil Module Design for the MICEChannel

Download or read book Progress on the RF Coupling Coil Module Design for the MICEChannel written by A. E. White and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We describe the progress on the design of the RF coupling coil (RFCC) module for the international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in the UK. The MICE cooling channel design consists of one SFOFO cell that is similar to that of the US Study-II of a neutrino factory. The MICE RFCC module comprises a superconducting solenoid, mounted around four normal conducting 201.25-MHz RF cavities. Each cavity has a pair of thin curved beryllium windows to close the conventional open beam irises, which allows for independent control of the phase in each cavity and for the RF power to be fed separately. The coil package that surrounds the RF cavities is mounted on a vacuum vessel. The RF vacuum is shared between the cavities and the vacuum vessel around the cavities such that there is no differential pressure on the thin beryllium windows. This paper discusses the design progress of the RFCC module and the fabrication progress of a prototype 201.25-MHz cavity.

Book Progress on the Coupling Coil for the MICE Channel

Download or read book Progress on the Coupling Coil for the MICE Channel written by M. A. Green and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the progress on the coupling magnet for the international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE). MICE consists of two cells of a SFOFO cooling channel that is similar to that studied in the level 2 study of a neutrino factory. The MICE RF coupling coil module (RFCC module) consists of a 1.56 m diameter superconducting solenoid, mounted around four cells of conventional 201.25 MHz closed RF cavities. This report discusses the progress that has been made on the superconducting coupling coil that is around the center of the RF coupling module. This report describes the process by which one would cool the coupling coil using a single small 4 K cooler. In addition, the coupling magnet power system and quench protection system are also described.

Book The Engineering Design of the 1 5 M Diameter Solenoid for the MICERFCC Modules

Download or read book The Engineering Design of the 1 5 M Diameter Solenoid for the MICERFCC Modules written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The RF coupling coil (RFCC) module of MICE is where muonsthat have been cooled within the MICE absorber focus (AFC) modules arere-accelerated to their original longitudinal momentum. The RFCC moduleconsists of four 201.25 MHz RF cavities in a 1.4 meter diameter vacuumvessel. The muons are kept within the RF cavities by the magnetic fieldgenerated by a superconducting coupling solenoid that goes around the RFcavities. The coupling solenoid will be cooled using a pair of 4 K pulsetube cooler that will generate 1.5 W of cooling at 4.2 K. The magnet willbe powered using a 300 A two-quadrant power supply. This report describesthe ICST engineering design of the coupling solenoid forMICE.

This book was released on 2008-02-28 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The workshop has reviewed progress towards the future generation of neutrino oscillation experiments. These experiments will use very intense conventional neutrino beams and novel beams derived from muons or radioactive nuclei. These new facilities will provide a broad research front including muon physics and neutrino scattering experiments. The main technical challenges involve construction of very intense proton beams, targeting, effective capture of produced particles, cooling and ultra-fast acceleration of the resulting muons.

Book Design Methodologies and Tools for 5G Network Development and Application

Download or read book Design Methodologies and Tools for 5G Network Development and Application written by Suresh, P. and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-12-25 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for mobile broadband will continue to increase in upcoming years, largely driven by the need to deliver ultra-high definition video. 5G is not only evolutionary, it also provides higher bandwidth and lower latency than the current-generation technology. More importantly, 5G is revolutionary in that it is expected to enable fundamentally new applications with much more stringent requirements in latency and bandwidth. 5G should help solve the last-mile/last-kilometer problem and provide broadband access to the next billion users on earth at a much lower cost because of its use of new spectrum and its improvements in spectral efficiency. 5G wireless access networks will need to combine several innovative aspects of decentralized and centralized allocation looking to maximize performance and minimize signaling load. Research is currently conducted to understand the inspirations, requirements, and the promising technical options to boost and enrich activities in 5G. Design Methodologies and Tools for 5G Network Development and Application presents the enhancement methods of 5G communication, explores the methods for faster communication, and provides a promising alternative solution that equips designers with the capability to produce high performance, scalable, and adoptable communication protocol. This book provides complete design methodologies, supporting tools for 5G communication, and innovative works. The design and evaluation of different proposed 5G structures signal integrity, reliability, low-power techniques, application mapping, testing, and future trends. This book is ideal for researchers who are working in communication, networks, design and implementations, industry personnel, engineers, practitioners, academicians, and students who are interested in the evolution, importance, usage, and technology adoption for 5G applications.
