Book Proceedings of the Princeton Symposium on Mathematical Programming

Download or read book Proceedings of the Princeton Symposium on Mathematical Programming written by Harold William Kuhn and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-03-08 with total page 627 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains thirty-three selected general research papers devoted to the theory and application of the mathematics of constrained optimization, including linear programming and its extensions to convex programming, general nonlinear programming, integer programming, and programming under uncertainty. Originally published in 1971. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book Mathematical Programming for Industrial Engineers

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Setting out to bridge the gap between the theory of mathematical programming and the varied, real-world practices of industrial engineers, this work introduces developments in linear, integer, multiobjective, stochastic, network and dynamic programing. It details many relevant industrial-engineering applications.;College or university bookstores may order five or more copies at a special student price, available upon request from Marcel Dekker, Inc.

Book Diagnostic Monitoring of Skill and Knowledge Acquisition

Download or read book Diagnostic Monitoring of Skill and Knowledge Acquisition written by Norman Frederiksen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An adjunct to the increased emphasis on developing students' critical thinking and higher order skills is the need for methods to monitor and evaluate these abilities. These papers provide insight into current techniques and examine possibilities for the future. The contributors to Diagnostic Monitoring of Skill and Knowledge Acquisition focus on two beliefs: that new kinds of tests and assessment methods are needed; and that instruction and learning can be improved by developing new assessment methods based on work in cognitive science.

Book Design Theory 88

Download or read book Design Theory 88 written by Sandra L. Newsome and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1984, Nam Sub, who was then the Assistant Director for Engineering at the National Science Foundation (NSF), created the Design Theory and Methodology Program. Among his goals in creating this program were to develop a science of engineering design and to establish design as an accepted field of engineering research. From 1984 to 1986 this program was directed by Susan Finger; from 1986 to the present Jack Dixon has been the director. The program itself has covered a broad range of disciplines, from chemical engineering to architecture, and a broad range of research paradigms, from psychological experiments to mathematical models. The present volume is based on the second NSF Grantee Workshop on Design Theory and Methodology, called Design Theory '88, which was held June 2-5, 1988 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, USA. It is, however, not strictly a proceedings since it includes some material that was not presented at a the Workshop and since it omits some papers and discussions that were presented at the Workshop. At the Workshop, invited speakers presented overviews of six different research areas based on summaries submitted in advance by the grantees of the Design Theory and Methodology Program. Since most of the speakers were not supported under the NSF program they brought fresh views to it. The other papers in this book were submitted directly to this volume and were not presented at the Workshop.
