Book Progress in Boron Chemistry

Download or read book Progress in Boron Chemistry written by R. J. Brotherton and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-12 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Boron Chemistry, Volume 3 discusses the chemistry and applications of boron and its compounds. This book offers a detailed treatment of five areas of boron chemistry. Organized into five chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the use of boric acid to favor alcohol formation in the air oxidation of hydrocarbons. This text then explains the standard procedure for hydrocarbon oxidation, which consists of passing air or a dilute oxygen in nitrogen stream via a suspension of boric acid in the heated substrate. Other chapters describe the radical-catalyzed addition of carbon tetrachloride to dibutyl vinylboronate and examine the growing interest in boron–nitrogen chemistry. This book discusses as well the polar addition of hydrogen bromide to unsaturated boronic esters. The final chapter deals with the chemical properties of organic boron–sulfur compounds. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, organic chemists, students, and research workers.

Book Science of Synthesis Advances in Organoboron Chemistry towards Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Science of Synthesis Advances in Organoboron Chemistry towards Organic Synthesis written by E. Fernández and published by Thieme. This book was released on 2020-05-22 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The widespread use of organoboron compounds justifies the efforts devoted to their synthesis, as well as toward developing an understanding of their reactivity. The nature of the mono- or diboron species is of paramount importance in determining the reversible covalent binding properties of the boron atom with both nucleophiles and electrophiles. By wedding the rich chemical potential of organoboron compounds to the ubiquity of organic scaffolds, advanced borylation reactions have the potential to open unprecedented synthetic alternatives, and new knowledge in the field should encourage chemists to use organoboron compounds. In this volume, the main objective is to provide a collection of the most useful, practical, and reliable methods, reported mainly within the last decade, for boron activation and boron reactivity. The volume covers the main concepts of organoboron compounds and includes experimental procedures, enabling newcomers to the field the instant and reliable application of the new tools in synthesis. Rather than aiming for a comprehensive coverage, the most advanced solutions for challenging transformations are introduced. To this end, a team of pioneers and leaders in the field have been assembled who discuss both the practical and conceptual aspects of this rapidly growing field.

Book Boron Reagents in Synthesis

Download or read book Boron Reagents in Synthesis written by Adiel Coca and published by ACS Symposium. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boron compounds have been used extensively in organic synthesis for more than sixty years. Some of the best known reactions in synthesis, such as the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling and the hydroboration reaction, involve boron compounds. Several natural products containing boron have been isolated in the last fifty years, including ionophoric macrodiolide antibiotics boromycin, borophycin, aplasmomycins A, B, and C, and tartrolons B, C, and E, as well as autoinducer-2. The study of compounds containing boronic acids for application in pharmaceuticals and materials science has grown tremendously over the last few decades. These include bortezomib, ixazomib, and tavaborole. Several more boron-based drugs are currently in clinical trials. Boron neutron capture therapy has the potential to provide a treatment for various cancers. In addition, materials bearing boronic acids are been studied as potential sensors for biological molecules, such as saccharides and glycoproteins that possess cis-1,2- or cis-1,3-diols.

Book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy of Boron Compounds

Download or read book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy of Boron Compounds written by Heinrich Nöth and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The revolutionary impetus of the NMR methods in organic chemistry has parallels in the field of boron chemistry. lIB NMR spectroscopy provided a basis for the elucida tion of structures and reactions of the boron hydrides. However, although many studies have been carried out with the higher boranes, carboranes, metalloboranes, etc. , and although certain patterns have emerged, the correlation between the observed chemical shift and the assigned structural unit is still not fully understood. Therefore, predictions in this area are still rather limited, and semiquantitative interpretations are not yet pos sible. Several years ago Eaton and Lipscomb sUpImarized the status in this field in their book "NMR Studies of Boron Hydrides and Related Compounds" and a plethora of new data has accumulated since then. The book also contained material on simple bo rane derivatives, but they were not discussed in any detail. On the other hand many systematic studies, both synthetic and spectroscopic, have been conducted on these simple boron materials in the last decade. Thus a large amount of NMR information is available, not only on lIB but also on 1 H, 1 3 C, and 14 N. However, this information is widely scattered in the literature, and often the data are not discussed at all. It see med appropriate, therefore, to collect these data and to present them in one volume.
