This book was released on 1998 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE TRAVAIL PRESENTE DANS CETTE THESE A POUR OBJET INITIAL LA CARACTERISATION DE COUCHES SEMICONDUCTRICES EPITAXIEES DE ZNS, ZNSE ET GAN PAR LA MESURE DE LEURS PROPRIETES OPTIQUES LINEAIRES AU VOISINAGE DE LEURS RESONANCES EXCITONIQUES (MESURE DES SPECTRES DE PHOTOLUMINESCENCE, DE REFLECTION ET D'ABSORPTION DES COUCHES). LEURS PROPRIETES OPTIQUES NONLINEAIRES, NOTAMMENT LEURS PHOTOLUMINESCENCES SOUS FORTE EXCITATION LUMINEUSE ET LEURS SPECTRES D'EXCITATION, ONT ETE ETUDIEES ENSUITE. DES PROCESSUS TELS QUE LA RECOMBINAISON RADIATIVE DE MOLECULES EXCITONIQUES (ZNS), DES EXCITONS PAR COLLISIONS EXCITON-EXCITON, EXCITON-ELECTRON (ZNSE), DE PLASMAS ELECTRON-TROU (GAN) ONT ETE MIS EN EVIDENCE DANS CES CONDITIONS D'EXCITATION. LES EMISSIONS STIMULEES OBSERVEES DANS CES COUCHES ET LES GAINS OPTIQUES CORRESPONDANTS ONT ETE ETUDIES GRACE A LA METHODE DE SHAKLEE PAR VARIATION DE LA LONGUEUR DE LA ZONE D'EXCITATION, A DIFFERENTES DENSITES D'EXCITATION ET A DIFFERENTES TEMPERATURES. LES MECANISMES DE GAIN ONT ETE DETERMINES AUX TRES BASSES TEMPERATURES. NOUS AVONS MONTRE QUE, DANS ZNS (30 CM#-#1), L'EMISSION STIMULEE EST SURTOUT DUE A LA RECOMBINAISON RADIATIVE DES MOLECULES EXCITONIQUES ; QUE, DANS ZNSE (90 CM#-#1), LES COLLISIONS EXCITON-EXCITON JOUENT UN ROLE IMPORTANT ; QUE, DANS GAN (450 CM#-#1), LE PROCESSUS QUI INTERVIENT EST LA RECOMBINAISON RADIATIVE D'UN PLASMA ELECTRON-TROU ; ENFIN, QUE, DANS UN PUITS QUANTIQUE DE ZNCDSE/ZNSE PLACE DANS UNE STRUCTURE GRINSCH (650 CM#-#1), L'EMISSION STIMULEE PEUT ETRE EXPLIQUEE PAR UN ELARGISSEMENT INHOMOGENE DES TRANSITIONS EXCITONIQUES DU AUX FLUCTUATIONS DE COMPOSITION DE L'ALLIAGE ET AUX VARIATIONS ALEATOIRES DE L'EPAISSEUR DU PUITS, COMME SUGGERE PAR DING. EN CONCLUSION, DANS CE TRAVAIL, NOUS MONTRONS QU'IL EST POSSIBLE DE CARACTERISER DES COUCHES SEMICONDUCTRICES PAR LA MESURE DE LEURS PROPRIETES OPTIQUES LINEAIRES ET NONLINEAIRES. IL CONTRIBUE AINSI A L'AMELIORATION DES METHODES DE CROISSANCE DE CES COUCHES MINCES SEMICONDUCTRICES.

Book TOF Range Imaging Cameras

Download or read book TOF Range Imaging Cameras written by Fabio Remondino and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-09 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today the cost of solid-state two-dimensional imagers has dramatically dropped, introducing low cost systems on the market suitable for a variety of applications, including both industrial and consumer products. However, these systems can capture only a two-dimensional projection (2D), or intensity map, of the scene under observation, losing a variable of paramount importance, i.e., the arrival time of the impinging photons. Time-Of-Flight (TOF) Range-Imaging (TOF) is an emerging sensor technology able to deliver, at the same time, depth and intensity maps of the scene under observation. Featuring different sensor resolutions, RIM cameras serve a wide community with a lot of applications like monitoring, architecture, life sciences, robotics, etc. This book will bring together experts from the sensor and metrology side in order to collect the state-of-art researchers in these fields working with RIM cameras. All the aspects in the acquisition and processing chain will be addressed, from recent updates concerning the photo-detectors, to the analysis of the calibration techniques, giving also a perspective onto new applications domains.

Book Organic Solid State Lasers

Download or read book Organic Solid State Lasers written by Sébastien Forget and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-07-03 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organic lasers are broadly tunable coherent sources, potentially compact, convenient and manufactured at low-costs. Appeared in the mid 60’s as solid-state alternatives for liquid dye lasers, they recently gained a new dimension after the demonstration of organic semiconductor lasers in the 90's. More recently, new perspectives appeared at the nanoscale, with organic polariton and surface plasmon lasers. After a brief reminder to laser physics, a first chapter exposes what makes organic solid-state organic lasers specific. The laser architectures used in organic lasers are then reviewed, with a state-of-the-art review of the performances of devices with regard to output power, threshold, lifetime, beam quality etc. A survey of the recent trends in the field is given, highlighting the latest developments with a special focus on the challenges remaining for achieving direct electrical pumping of organic semiconductor lasers. A last chapter covers the applications of organic solid-state lasers.

Book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals

Download or read book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals written by Agnes Buka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book intends to give a state-of-the-art overview of flexoelectricity, a linear physical coupling between mechanical (orientational) deformations and electric polarization, which is specific to systems with orientational order, such as liquid crystals. Chapters written by experts in the field shed light on theoretical as well as experimental aspects of research carried out since the discovery of flexoelectricity. Besides a common macroscopic (continuum) description the microscopic theory of flexoelectricity is also addressed. Electro-optic effects due to or modified by flexoelectricity as well as various (direct and indirect) measurement methods are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the role of flexoelectricity in pattern-forming instabilities. While the main focus of the book lies in flexoelectricity in nematic liquid crystals, peculiarities of other mesophases (bent-core systems, cholesterics, and smectics) are also reviewed. Flexoelectricity has relevance to biological (living) systems and can also offer possibilities for technical applications. The basics of these two interdisciplinary fields are also summarized.

Book excerpt: Experimental microdosimetry deals with the measurement of charged particle energy deposition in tissue equivalent volumes, ranging in size from nanometres to micrometres. Microdosimetry is employed to improve our understanding of the relationship between radiation energy deposition, the resulting biological effects, and the appropriate quantities to be used in characterizing and quantifying radiation quality. Although many reviews and contributions to the field have been published over the past fifty years, this new book is the first to provide a single, up to date, and easily accessible account of experimental microdosimetry. This book is designed to be used in medical, radiation, and health physics courses and by Master's and PhD students. In addition to serving as an introductory text to the field for graduate students, this book will also be of interest as a teaching and reference resource for graduate supervisors and established researchers. Drs. Lennart Lindborg and Anthony Waker have spent a life-time career in experimental microdosimetry research in academic, industrial and regulatory environments and have observed the development of the field from its early days as a recognized discipline; they bring to this book particular knowledge and experience in the design, construction, operation and use of tissue equivalent gas ionization counters and chambers.
