Book Excitons in Confined Systems

Download or read book Excitons in Confined Systems written by Rodolfo Del Sole and published by Springer. This book was released on 1988 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the International Meeting on Confined Excitons held in Rome in April 1987. The aim of the meeting was to discuss excitons confined in a variety of systems from semi-infinite solids to quantum wells. In the part on excitons in semi-infinite solids, the long-running discussion on exciton reflectance, involving the concepts of additional boundary conditions and the dead layer, is summarized and extended. The papers on excitons in thin films and in "thick" quantum wells bridge the gap between semi-infinite semiconductors and the usual quantum wells, presenting interesting results on exciton quantization. The third part reports many new results in the recently developed area of excitons in quantum wells and on the very new topic of excitons in quantum wires. Knowledge of the quantum well properties is an important aspect in the determination of exciton states, so tutorial articles on the growth and band structure of quantum wells are also included.

Book Progress in Nonequilibrium Green s Functions

Download or read book Progress in Nonequilibrium Green s Functions written by Michael Bonitz and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of correlated many-body systems are of growing interest in many fields of physics, including condensed matter, dense plasmas, nuclear matter and particles. The most powerful and general method which applies equally to all these areas is given by quantum field theory.Written by the leading experts and understandable to non-specialists, this book provides an overview on the basic ideas and concepts of the method of nonequilibrium Green's functions. It is complemented by modern applications of the method to a variety of topics, such as optics and transport in dense plasmas and semiconductors; correlations, bound states and coherence; strong field effects and short-pulse lasers; nuclear matter and QCD.Authors include: Gordon Bayan, Pawel Danielewicz, Don DuBois, Hartmut Haug, Klaus Henneberger, Antti-Pekka Jauho, J”rn Kuoll, Dietrich Kremp, Pavel Lipavsky and Paul C Martin.

Book Green Photocatalytic Semiconductors

Download or read book Green Photocatalytic Semiconductors written by Seema Garg and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-20 with total page 855 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprises a detailed overview on the role of photocatalysts for environmental remediation, hydrogen production and carbon dioxide reduction. Effective ways to enhance the photocatalytic activity of the material via doping, hybrid material, laser light and nanocomposites have been discussed in this book. The book also further elaborates the role of metal nanoparticles, rare earth doping, sensitizers, surface oxygen vacancy, interface engineering and band gap engineering for enhancing the photocatalytic activity. An approach to recover the photocatalytic material via immobilization is also presented. This book brings to light much of the recent research in the development of such semiconductor photocatalytic systems. The book will thus be of relevance to researchers in the field of: material science, environmental science & technology, photocatalytic applications, newer methods of energy generation & conversion and industrial applications.

Book Microcavities

    Book Details:
  • Author : Alexey Kavokin
  • Publisher : OUP Oxford
  • Release : 2011-04-27
  • ISBN : 0191620734
  • Pages : 487 pages

Download or read book Microcavities written by Alexey Kavokin and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2011-04-27 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid development of microfabrication and assembly of nanostructures has opened up many opportunities to miniaturize structures that confine light, producing unusual and extremely interesting optical properties. This book addresses the large variety of optical phenomena taking place in confined solid state structures: microcavities. Realisations include planar and pillar microcavities, whispering gallery modes, and photonic crystals. The microcavities represent a unique laboratory for quantum optics and photonics. They exhibit a number of beautiful effects including lasing, superfluidity, superradiance, entanglement etc. Written by four practitioners strongly involved in experiments and theories of microcavities, it is addressed to any interested reader having a general physical background, but in particular to undergraduate and graduate students at physics faculties.
