Download or read book Conceptual Modeling Foundations and Applications written by Alex T. Borgida and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-06 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Festschrift volume, published in honor of John Mylopoulos on the occasion of his retirement from the University of Toronto, contains 25 high-quality papers, written by leading scientists in the field of conceptual modeling. The volume has been divided into six sections. The first section focuses on the foundations of conceptual modeling and contains material on ontologies and knowledge representation. The four sections on software and requirements engineering, information systems, information integration, and web and services, represent the chief current application domains of conceptual modeling. Finally, the section on implementations concentrates on projects that build tools to support conceptual modeling. With its in-depth coverage of diverse topics, this book could be a useful companion to a course on conceptual modeling.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wikipedia, Flickr, You Tube, Facebook, LinkedIn are all examples of large community-built databases, although with quite diverse purposes and collaboration patterns. Their usage and dissemination will further grow introducing e.g. new semantics, personalization, or interactive media. Pardede delivers the first comprehensive research reference on community-built databases. The contributions discuss various technical and social aspects of research in and development in areas like in Web science, social networks, and collaborative information systems. Book The Definitive Guide to SQLite

Download or read book The Definitive Guide to SQLite written by Mike Owens and published by Apress. This book was released on 2006-12-06 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to devote complete coverage to the most recent release of the popular embedded open source database SQLite. The book acts as both an ideal tutorial and reference guide. It offers experienced database developers a thorough overview of its capabilities and APIs, yet is mindful of newcomers who may be making their first foray into the database environment with SQLite. Readers are presented with introductions to the SQLite extensions available for C, Java, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Tcl.

Book On Knowledge Base Management Systems

Download or read book On Knowledge Base Management Systems written by Michael L. Brodie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current experimental systems in industry, government, and the military take advantage of knowledge-based processing. For example, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) are supporting the develop ment of information systems that contain diverse, vast, and growing repositories of data (e.g., vast databases storing geographic informa tion). These systems require powerful reasoning capabilities and pro cessing such as data processing, communications, and multidisciplinary of such systems will scientific analysis. The number and importance grow significantly in the near future. Many of these systems are severely limited by current knowledge base and database systems technology. Currently, knowledge-based system technology lacks the means to provide efficient and robust knowledge bases, while database system technology lacks knowledge representation and reasoning capabilities. The time has come to face the complex research problems that must be solved before we can design and implement real, large scale software systems that depend on knowledge-based processing. To date there has been little research directed at integrating knowledge base and database technologies. It is now imperative that such coordinated research be initiated and that it respond to the urgent need for a tech nology that will enable operational large-scale knowledge-based system applications.

Book Information Systems Design Methodologies

Download or read book Information Systems Design Methodologies written by T. William Olle and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1983 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The advantages of discussing topics in conference are many: they bring together individuals from around the world with a common interest, and the attempts to attack a standard test case in different ways highlights the similarities and differences among the methodologies employed. Discussion of these results helps the various approaches to converge, leading to some consensus. These consensus views benefit practitioners who are involved in designing information systems. The proceedings contained herein include a number of feature analyses of the methodologies included in the first proceedings, from the 1982 conference.
