Book Analyzing Time Interval Data

Download or read book Analyzing Time Interval Data written by Philipp Meisen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-28 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philipp Meisen introduces a model, a query language, and a similarity measure enabling users to analyze time interval data. The introduced tools are combined to design and realize an information system. The presented system is capable of performing analytical tasks (avoiding any type of summarizability problems), providing insights, and visualizing results processing millions of intervals within milliseconds using an intuitive SQL-based query language. The heart of the solution is based on several bitmap-based indexes, which enable the system to handle huge amounts of time interval data.

The audience for and participants in VECPAR are seen as researchers in academic departments, g- ernment laboratories and industrial organizations. There is now a permanent website for the series, http://vecpar.fe.up.pt, where the history of the conf- ences is described. ThesixtheditionofVECPARwasthe?rsttimetheconferencewascelebrated outside Porto – at the Universitad Politecnica de Valencia (Spain), June 28–30, 2004. The whole conference programme consisted of 6 invited talks, 61 papers and26posters,outof130contributionsthatwereinitiallysubmitted.Themajor themes were divided into large-scale numerical and non-numerical simulations, parallel and grid computing, biosciences, numerical algorithms, data mining and visualization. This postconference book includes the best 48 papers and 5 invited talks presented during the three days of the conference. The book is organized into 6 chapters, with a prominent position reserved for the invited talks and the Best Student Paper. As a whole it appeals to a wide research community, from those involved in the engineering applications to those interested in the actual details of the hardware or software implementations, in line with what, in these days, tends to be considered as computational science and engineering (CSE).

Download or read book Objects and Databases written by Klaus R. Dittrich and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These post-proceedings contain the revised versions of the papers presented at the \Symposium on Objects and Databases" which was held in Sophia-Antipolis, France, June 13, 2000, in conjunction with the Fourteenth European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming, ECOOP 2000. This event continued the t- dition established the year before in Lisbon (Portugal) with the First Workshop on Object-Oriented Databases. The goal of the symposium was to bring together researchers working in various corners of the eld of objects and databases, to discuss the current state of research in the eld and to critically evaluate existing solutions in terms of their current usage, their successes and limitations, and their potential for new applications. The organizing committee received 21 papers which were reviewed by a p- gram committee of people active in the eld of objects and databases. There were 3 reviews for each paper, and nally the organizing committee selected 9 long papers, 2 short papers, and a demonstration to be presented and discussed at the symposium. The selected papers cover a wide spectrum of topics, including data modeling concepts, persistent object languages, consistency and integrity of persistent data, storage structures, class versioning and schema evolution, query languages, and temporal object-oriented databases. In addition to the regular papers, the symposium included an invited p- sentation, given by Prof. Malcolm Atkinson from the University of Glasgow (Scotland) where he heads the Persistence and Distribution Group.

Book XML Based Data Management and Multimedia Engineering EDBT 2002 Workshops

Download or read book XML Based Data Management and Multimedia Engineering EDBT 2002 Workshops written by Akmal B. Chaudhri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-08-02 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises papers from the following three workshops that were part of the complete program for the International Conference on Extending Database Technology (EDBT) held in Prague, Czech Republic, in March 2002: XML-Based Data Management (XMLDM) Second International Workshop on Multimedia Data and Document Engineering (MDDE) Young Researchers Workshop (YRWS) Together, the three workshops featured 48 high-quality papers selected from approximately 130 submissions. It was, therefore, difficult to decide on the papers that were to be accepted for presentation. We believe that the accepted papers substantially contribute to their particular fields of research. The workshops were an excellent basis for intense and highly fruitful discussions. The quality and quantity of papers show that the areas of interest for the workshops are highly active. A large number of excellent researchers are working in relevant fields producing research output that is not only of interest to other researchers but also for industry. The organizers and participants of the workshops were highly satisfied with the output. The high quality of the presenters and workshop participants contributed to the success of each workshop. The amazing environment of Prague and the location of the EDBT conference also contributed to the overall success. Last, but not least, our sincere thanks to the conference organizers – the organizing team was always willing to help and if there were things that did not work, assistance was quickly available.

Book Design for Embedded Image Processing on FPGAs

Download or read book Design for Embedded Image Processing on FPGAs written by Donald G. Bailey and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-08-14 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design for Embedded Image Processing on FPGAs Bridge the gap between software and hardware with this foundational design reference Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are integrated circuits designed so that configuration can take place. Circuits of this kind play an integral role in processing images, with FPGAs increasingly embedded in digital cameras and other devices that produce visual data outputs for subsequent realization and compression. These uses of FPGAs require specific design processes designed to mediate smoothly between hardware and processing algorithm. Design for Embedded Image Processing on FPGAs provides a comprehensive overview of these processes and their applications in embedded image processing. Beginning with an overview of image processing and its core principles, this book discusses specific design and computation techniques, with a smooth progression from the foundations of the field to its advanced principles. Readers of the second edition of Design for Embedded Image Processing on FPGAs will also find: Detailed discussion of image processing techniques including point operations, histogram operations, linear transformations, and more New chapters covering Deep Learning algorithms and Image and Video Coding Example applications throughout to ground principles and demonstrate techniques Design for Embedded Image Processing on FPGAs is ideal for engineers and academics working in the field of Image Processing, as well as graduate students studying Embedded Systems Engineering, Image Processing, Digital Design, and related fields.
