Book Data Analytics for Cybersecurity

Download or read book Data Analytics for Cybersecurity written by Vandana P. Janeja and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-07-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the world becomes increasingly connected, it is also more exposed to a myriad of cyber threats. We need to use multiple types of tools and techniques to learn and understand the evolving threat landscape. Data is a common thread linking various types of devices and end users. Analyzing data across different segments of cybersecurity domains, particularly data generated during cyber-attacks, can help us understand threats better, prevent future cyber-attacks, and provide insights into the evolving cyber threat landscape. This book takes a data oriented approach to studying cyber threats, showing in depth how traditional methods such as anomaly detection can be extended using data analytics and also applies data analytics to non-traditional views of cybersecurity, such as multi domain analysis, time series and spatial data analysis, and human-centered cybersecurity.

Book Current Trends in Database Technology EDBT 2004 Workshops

Download or read book Current Trends in Database Technology EDBT 2004 Workshops written by Wolfgang Lindner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-11-18 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises papers from the following ?ve workshops that were part of the complete program for the International Conference on Extending Database Technology (EDBT) held in Heraklion, Greece, March 2004: • ICDE/EDBT Joint Ph. D. Workshop (PhD) • Database Technologies for Handling XML-information on the Web (DataX) • Pervasive Information Management (PIM) • Peer-to-Peer Computing and Databases (P2P&DB) • Clustering Information Over the Web (ClustWeb) Together, the ?ve workshops featured 61 high-quality papers selected from appr- imately 180 submissions. It was, therefore, dif?cult to decide on the papers that were to beacceptedforpresentation. Webelievethattheacceptedpaperssubstantiallycontribute to their particular ?elds of research. The workshops were an excellent basis for intense and highly fruitful discussions. The quality and quantity of papers show that the areas of interest for the workshops are highly active. A large number of excellent researchers are working on the aforementioned ?elds producing research output that is not only of interest for other researchers but also for industry. The organizers and participants of the workshops were highly satis?ed with the output. The high quality of the presenters and workshop participants contributed to the success of each workshop. The amazing environment of Heraklion and the location of the EDBT conference also contributed to the overall success. Last, but not least, our sincere thanks to the conference organizers – the organizing team was always willing to help and if there were things that did not work, assistance was quickly available.

Book Business Intelligence

Download or read book Business Intelligence written by Marie-Aude Aufaure and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-01-11 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business Intelligence (BI) promises an organization the capability of collecting and analyzing internal and external data to generate knowledge and value, providing decision support at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Business Intelligence is now impacted by the Big Data phenomena and the evolution of society and users, and needs to take into account high-level semantics, reasoning about unstructured and structured data, and to provide a simplified access and better understanding of diverse BI tools accessible trough mobile devices. In particular, BI applications must cope with additional heterogeneous (often Web-based) sources, e.g., from social networks, blogs, competitors’, suppliers’, or distributors’ data, governmental or NGO-based analysis and papers, or from research publications. The lectures held at the First European Business Intelligence Summer School (eBISS), which are presented here in an extended and refined format, cover not only established BI technologies like data warehouses, OLAP query processing, or performance issues, but extend into new aspects that are important in this new environment and for novel applications, e.g., semantic technologies, social network analysis and graphs, services, large-scale management, or collaborative decision making. Combining papers by leading researchers in the field, this volume will equip the reader with the state-of-the-art background necessary for inventing the future of BI. It will also provide the reader with an excellent basis and many pointers for further research in this growing field.

Book Inductive Databases and Constraint Based Data Mining

Download or read book Inductive Databases and Constraint Based Data Mining written by Sašo Džeroski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-18 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about inductive databases and constraint-based data mining, emerging research topics lying at the intersection of data mining and database research. The aim of the book as to provide an overview of the state-of- the art in this novel and - citing research area. Of special interest are the recent methods for constraint-based mining of global models for prediction and clustering, the uni?cation of pattern mining approaches through constraint programming, the clari?cation of the re- tionship between mining local patterns and global models, and the proposed in- grative frameworks and approaches for inducive databases. On the application side, applications to practically relevant problems from bioinformatics are presented. Inductive databases (IDBs) represent a database view on data mining and kno- edge discovery. IDBs contain not only data, but also generalizations (patterns and models) valid in the data. In an IDB, ordinary queries can be used to access and - nipulate data, while inductive queries can be used to generate (mine), manipulate, and apply patterns and models. In the IDB framework, patterns and models become ”?rst-class citizens” and KDD becomes an extended querying process in which both the data and the patterns/models that hold in the data are queried.

Book Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence XVIII

Download or read book Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence XVIII written by Ngoc Thanh Nguyen and published by Springer.
