This book was released on 2005-12-28 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a collection of papers from the Proceedings of the 5th Italy-Japan Symposium 'Recent Achievements and Perspectives in Nuclear Physics', held in Naples as part of the framework of the INFN-RIKEN Research Collaboration Program. The meeting was devoted to recent achievements and new challenges in the different fields of nuclear physics, with the aim to promote new collaborations between the two communities and thereby enhance the development of nuclear physics in the two countries. Particularly interesting are the topics dedicated to radioactive beams and innovative instrumentation: the prospects for future accelerators and experimental setups as well as novel future research directions. These projects are of key importance for the future of heavy ion nuclear physics.

Book excerpt: The last decade of the twentieth century is already proving to be as dramatic as any decade before. The chances of global peace seem stronger now than at any time since 1900 and the people and organizations that have contributed most towards this progress are recognized by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The Nobel Peace Prizewinners during the period 1971 - 1980 include men, women and organizations whose principles, dedication and diligence continue to shape history. These volumes are collections of the Nobel lectures delivered by the Prizewinners, together with their biographies, portraits and presentation speeches by representatives of the Norwegian Nobel Committee for the period 1971 - 1980. Each Nobel lecture is based on the work that won the laureate his prize. New biographical data of the laureates, since they were awarded the Nobel prize, are also included. These volumes of inspiring lectures by outstanding individuals should be on everyone's bookshelf.Below is a list of the prizewinners during the period 1981 - 1990: Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, A Myrdal, A García Robles, L Walesa, D M Tutu, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, E Wiesel, O Arias Sánchez, The United Nations Peace-Keeping Forces, The 14th Dalai Lama, M S Gorbachev.

Toki and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NEWS99 international symposium discusses symmetries in electroweak processes in nuclei. Many phenomena in nuclear and particle physics are related to symmetry. It is known that we are living in a left-handed world as far as the Weak interaction is concerned, but neutrino physics suggests that a right-handed world may also be relevant. Chiral symmetry and its breaking plays an essential role in generating hadron masses. Symmetries related to flavor in the strong interaction like isospin, SU(3) and so on are known to be violated although they play a crucial role for the understanding of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics. The treatment of tiny breaking is of particular importance. Weak and electromagnetic interactions are well established at the fundamental level and can be used to probe the structure of nuclei and hadrons. A wide variety of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics were discussed in NEWS99 with an emphasis on symmetry. Topics ranged from nuclear structure to neutrino properties,,covering highly phenomenological to fundamental fields.

Download or read book Spins in Nuclear and Hadronic Reactions written by Hiroyuki Yabu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spin physics is one of the most important and active areas of theoretical/experimental nuclear physics. In nuclear reactions, the observations of spin polarizations give important clues to the nuclear structures and reaction mechanism. For high energy nuclear physics, the polarized quark-parton distributions of the nucleon/nucleus are studied intensively. In the study of baryon structures and nuclear astrophysics, spin is an important observable through hadron reactions. The focus of these proceedings is on the spin-dependent phenomena in nuclear and hadronic reactions and related topics in nuclear and hadron physics. The main subjects covered are: spin polarization phenomena in nuclear and hadronic reactions; spin-dependent excitations in nuclei and spin observables; recent development in nuclear reaction theories; spin-dependent phenomena in fundamental processes; and related topics.
Download or read book Strangeness In Nuclear And Hadronic Systems Sendai08 Proceedings Of The Sendai International Symposium written by Osamu Hashimoto and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009-10-09 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on the proceedings of the International Symposium on “Strangeness in Nuclear and Hadronic Systems (SENDAI08)”, which is the third in a series of symposia on nuclear physics involving strangeness following SENDAI98 and SENDAI03.With the expectation of the completion of new accelerator facilities such as J-PARC and other new experimental facilities, recent theoretical and experimental results and future prospects of strangeness nuclear physics are discussed in great depth by leading experts of the field. The topics involved are electromagnetic production of strangeness, structure and decay of hypernuclei, hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions, among others. It will also serve as a good textbook for studying the current status of strangeness in nuclear and hadronic physics.
