Download or read book Mineral Nutrition of Livestock 5th Edition written by Neville F. Suttle and published by CABI. This book was released on 2022-05-30 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifth edition of this important book reviews recent advances in livestock mineral nutrition, updated throughout with new references that reflect the growing complexity of mineral metabolism. Major related themes covered include the assessment of the 'mineral value' of feeds, the false hopes placed on organic mineral supplements and limiting the 'mineral footprint' of livestock production to lower environmental pollution. Following a clear and easy to reference structure, the book also considers potential pitfalls, such as misleading estimates of mineral requirements for growth, and misinterpretation of genomic markers for mineral requirements and bioavailability of supplements. An essential resource for researchers and students in animal nutrition, agriculture and veterinary medicine, this book also forms a useful reference for veterinary practitioners and those concerned with human nutrition and environmental protection.

Download or read book Recent Advances in Animal Nutrition written by W. Haresign and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-27 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent Advances in Animal Nutrition — 1986 focuses on developments in the compositions of animal feeds. The book first discusses studies on the fat content of human diet. The text also looks at future trends in the marketing of animal products with particular reference to fats. The book then discusses the manipulation of fat characteristics in animal products; antinutritional factors related with dietary fats and oils; and method of analysis of feedingstuffs for the identification of crude oils. The text highlights the implications for research and the feed compounder of oils and fats determination and the implications of biotechnology for animal nutrition. The book discusses the manipulation of milk yield with growth hormone (GH). Endogenous GH and lactation potential; mechanisms underlying the galactopoietic effects of bovine growth hormone (bGH); and galactopoietic action of exogenous bGH are discussed. The text also explains near infrared reflectance analysis of forages, residues in animal products, and nutrient modulation of the immune system. The book also highlights probiotics in pig diets and use of synthetic amino acids in poultry and pig diets. The book is a good source of information for readers wanting to study the compositions of animal feeds.

Download or read book Poultry Feed from Waste written by A.R.Y. El Boushy and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In developed market economies with intensive animal production systems, such as The Netherlands, many new feedstuffs have been introduced as part of the diets of ruminant and monogastric animals. These new feedstuffs are often by-products of human food processing. It is important that these by-products and also the by-products from wastes are properly evaluated with regard to the possibilities of incor porating them into livestock diets. Research on the subject of feed from waste, its processing and its use in the nutrition of poultry has increased considerably during the last decade. The Department of Animal Nutrition of Wageningen Agricul tural University (WAU), Wageningen, The Netherlands, in close co operation with the Poultry Feeding and the Processing Industry, has been active in this field. In order to update research and to expedite further work in this field, a comprehensive review of the literature on the subject of feed from waste was made. Such a study would not only bring the industry up to date on the subject but could also indicate specific topics which may be of great value for developing market economies. Poultry scientists and technologists suggested that a review would fill a need as a reference and textbook, not only for the industry but also for undergraduates and graduates of agricultural colleges and extension services all over the world.

This book was released on 1978 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objectives of the symposium were to: 1)Review the present state of knowledge of fundamental nutrient requirements, applied biological as well as technical aspects of nutrition and diets for cultivated, freshwater and marine species of fish; 2)Identify the areas requiring further scientific efforts, pointing out and linking together the new significant facts; 3) Recommend action to be taken to bring progress to this key area for the future promotion and benefit of fish culture.
