Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Investigations of Hadronic Few Body Systems written by Claudio Ciofi degli Atti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects the papers given at the European Workshop "Theoretical and Experimental Investigations of Hadronic Few-Body Systems" which, adhering to an invitation of the European Few-Body Physics Research Committee, was organized in Rome on October 7-11, 1986. All papers presented at the workshop appear in the volume, plus two papers which could not be presented orally because their authors were at the last moment unable to attend. The list of contents closely follows the programme of the workshop. The workshop, attended by 128 American, European, and Japanese physicists from 60 different institutions and universities, was sponsored by the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (lNFN) and was organized by the INFN Section located at the Istituto Superiore di Sanita (ISS), which kindly provided the venue for the meeting and many related facilities. The goal of the workshop was to summarize the present situa tion and the future perspectives concerning the theoretical descriptions of strongly interacting few-body systems and their experimental investigation by electromagnetic and hadronic probes, mainly at intermediate energies. To this end, representatives from most international groups working within different theoretical methods and with different experimental facilities, were invited and asked to illustrate their latest results and future research programs; the intention was to provide, by this way, an impartial and broad information which could be useful to whom is actively working in few body physics, as well as to young students entering this field of research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This volume presents an attempt to construct a unified cognitive theory of science in relatively short compass. It confronts the strong program in sociology of science and the positions of various postpositivist philosophers of science, developing significant alternatives to each in a reeadily comprehensible sytle. It draws loosely on recent developments in cognitive science, without burdening the argument with detailed results from that source. . . . The book is thus a provocative one. Perhaps that is a measure of its value: it will lead scholars and serious student from a number of science studies disciplines into continued and sharpened debate over fundamental questions."—Richard Burian, Isis "The writing is delightfully clear and accessible. On balance, few books advance our subject as well."—Paul Teller, Philosophy of Science

Download or read book Relativistic Dynamics and Quark nuclear Physics written by Mikkel B. Johnson and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1986 with total page 888 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats and contrasts two competing orientations toward nuclear structure and scattering: the traditional, relativistic meson theory and the more modern quark-gluon theory. It includes recent developments and focuses on fundamental theory, featuring discussion of research projects currently under study. Also considered are such topics as the application of meson theory in nuclear physics, the theoretical approach in electron scattering, application of quantum chromatic dynamics to the scattering of electrons from nuclei, lattice gauge theory and much more. The book will be useful to graduate students of all levels.
